View 2 Repliesgot my BRAND NEW Galaxy S3 yesterday and so far I'm loving it. I'm having the "duplicate contacts" Android problem like a lot of others. I just couldn't seem to get it fixed no matter how much merging, joining, splitting, importing, exporting, manually deleting, etc., so I finally just deleted all my contacts. I deleted ALL OF THEM from the phone. I deleted ALL OF THEM from my gmail account. When I look at the Contacts list in my phone now, they are GONE. No more effing DUPLICATES, right? Wrong. Let's say I want to send a text to someone. I open "messaging" and start typing a name, and lo and behold, a list begins to populate with a bunch of %$#@! duplicate names. WTF do I have to do??? THIS IS A NIGHTMARE that has lost me literally DAYS worth of time trying to figure out. I have sync OFF.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just have yahoo, facebook and Gmail synced, but some of my contacts show up 5-6 times and they're not from Gmail. anyone know how to remove them?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have duplicate contacts from Face book, my phone, and Google. I want to keep Google/FB synced, but I don't want the duplicates to come back. I also need a way to merge the duplicates. How can I do this quickly?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have checked my contact and have no duplicates, although I did find some with linked contacts which I have since deleted. However every time I open up the SMS app and try and search for a contact it display each contact about 5 or 6 times. I have checked the people app and I am certian that there no duplicates. I don't use facebook so no contacts there and I dont sync gmail contacts. remove these duplicate entries
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on HTC tattoo, and my contacts are duplicated on the people application. This is strange, as they all say phone contacts (thus aren't sim or google contacts or anything), but on view settings, it says I have 300 or so contacts which is how many I have if they were NOT duplicated. I have tried restarting my phone. For some reason, it shows fine then when it loads fully, the duplicates are back. I also noticed that only contacts synced with Facebook seemed to be duplicated, though not all synced are duplicated. I have attempted deleting one of two of a same contact, but this resulted in the other entry being deleted too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk so I accidentally imported my sim card contacts into my phone twice. Now while I have hidden the sim card contacts so everything looks ok on the people screen, if i go into a contact and look at what it is linked to there is 3 versions of the contact all on the phone and all just with the number. Is there an easy way to sort this out? or should I just delete all my phone contacts and import from sim again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am getting duplicate contact entries in most apps. I look in my contacts list, and there aint no duplicates at all. Nor are there any on my Gmail account. But when I go into chompsms, or handcent, or even ringdroid, it shows up multiples of the same contacts. Any way to fix this?

Does anybody else have a problem when composing a sms that when typing a recipient every contact is duplicated (two of each) in the scroll list that appears? In the people app I have unchecked Google and Sim contacts so I am not sure why this is happening?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy new HTC Aria will not hide my SIM Card contacts. When I click the phone button on the home screen it brings up a list of my contacts and shows the phone numbers stored on my phone and my SIM Card. I have unchecked the SIM Card in the People application, but they are still showing up.
View 19 Replies View RelatedIf i edit a contact, it's got like 3 rows of the same info listed, what's the best way to clean this out?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got myself an HTC Desire the other day and so far I'm pretty much in love. However! In my contacts, I've got it set to only show Phone contacts, and I've hidden Sim/Gmail contacts. I've also linked all my contacts with their Facebook profiles. So in my contacts list (People), it's fine. However, when I go to messaging and start typing a name in the To field, there's a duplicate of everyone. As far as I can see, there's no similar "hide SIM" option etc for the texting/calling, so I'm just wondering how to sort this? I saw someone to try deleting all phone contacts and just using your SIM contacts but to be honest I'd rather not do this, since I like to just use my SIM contacts as a basic backup if you get me.
View 22 Replies View RelatedHad the g2 touch / hero for a few days now and love it but today I have a problem with contacts being duplicated in the people app. All of my contacts are stored in Gmail and there are no dupes but today all of my contacts with a facebook profile are showing twice. Also, and I don't know if this is related, the people app no longer shows any albums for facebook contacts although they are there if I access them through the albums app.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got my Hero. I used HTC sync to sync my calendar/contacts with outlook. Outlook has previously been synced with Gmail. Now I have a ton of duplicate contacts. Obviously I shouldn't have synced contacts from Outlook and just let them sync from Google. Is there any easy way to fix this and get rid of all the Outlook contacts?
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got my 1st smart phone last week (Desire) and to be honest i am still not sure what to think of it. One of the problems that i have been having is that when i start a text message and go to put the contact in all of my contacts are duplicated, even though this is not the case when i open up the People folder. Is there any way that i can get this to return to normal? Each of the duplicated contacts in the messages widget has a blank face next to it and the other has a picture of what looks like a sim card.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust received my Incredible last night and already have 2 sets of contacts. One from Google (Gmail) and one from the backup assistant. They have you download those on the backup assistant when setting up the phone. I would like to delete the backup assistant ones and use the Google ones. How would I go about that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to 2.1 and have some issues with my contact list. I have all my contacts still, but whether it be the facebook app or the 2.1 upgrade, I now have multiple copies of each contact. Within each contact it has the persons number as well as their "main" number which is the same thing just duplicate, and when I go to add a contact for a text or for calling someone, some contacts show up with all their numbers (home, business, etc) 4 or 5 times. Anyone else have this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOver the last couple of weeks, I've had some problems with Facebook for HTC (between contacts and FriendStream). Through performing some fixes, I've had to remove my Facebook account from the phone, and set it up again twice. Well tonight, after removing the account, I could not get ANY of my contacts to show up at all. This includes my regular Google contacts (not just the ones synced with FB. It looked like the phone was trying to sync and never loading when I opened the people app.Well, this went on for about an hour with no luck, even with rebooting several times. I finally decided to setup my Facebook account again. Sure enough, once I setup the FB account, all of my contacts showed up fine with no syncing issue. The problem is, now when I go into a contact that has no FB contact link, press the "link" icon on the top right, select Facebook, it lists multiples of ALL of my Facebook friends. Almost as if each time I setup my Facebook account again, it just re-imported all of my FB friends without replacing them. How can I delete these duplicates, or even all of my Facebook contacts / friends from my phone, and re-import them? Anyone else have this issue? It seems that removing my Facebook account from my phone not only causes problems with all of my regular Google contacts, but also doesn't delete the Facebook friends left behind on the phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Gmail set up on my Nexus One (personal email). I also have Microsoft exchange setup (work email) and both work fine. The problem is that under my contacts there are duplicate entries both for Gmail and Microsoft exchange. That is causing some problems with my SMS app (duplicate contacts) and wanted to see how I could avoid syncing Microsoft exchange and delete it from my contact but still keep it on my phone. I have already unchecked the box to not sync my contacts but did that after adding it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am sick and tired of deleting duplicate entries in contacts and calendar. There is no rhyme or reason. I get some contacts duplicated numerous times. I get duplicate appointments and my new ones refuse to link to the PC. I have tried everthing that two weeks of constant googling can come up with. I am sooooooo GD sorry that I purchased this POS phone and from my point of view the Android system is also a POS.
Next time I am going to finally bite the bullet and get an iPhone.
If anyone has something new please let me know what to do. I have deleted ALL contacts in Google. I have deleted ALL duplicate contacts at least a dozen times. The stupid system still adds, at random, duplicate contacts and tasks. The stupid phone has even linked contacts with no reason or input from me. The calendar has put holidays in numerous dates. Columbus day was in the calendar seven times when I did the last cleanup (I have done 3 seperate cleanups today alone). Independence day was put on both July 4th and 5th. When I deleted it from the 5th it disappeared altogether. I thought my old Palm Treo was bad.
A widget which puts all the posts from the "big ones" in one, scrollable feed? I want Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and various RSS feeds in one big feed on one of my home screens, preferably with customizable colours.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a BIG touble when adding duplicate contact fields in Android 2.1 update 1. please have a look at my code:
ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation> op_list = new ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation>();
op_list.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.RawContacts.CONTENT_URI)
.withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_TYPE, null)
.withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_NAME, null)

I have been using go SMS pro and I made some backups and made it auto backup by schedule..I've noticed now that something probably went wrong and now I've got most of my SMS twice or trice, or even 4 times duplicate..And if ill try to fix it handily by my self it'll take me 40 years, cuz I got over a thousand messages.. and each one is 2-4 times..
Is there any app that you know that could scan it and delete it by its own?Like scanning the whole SMS and delete those who are the same..?
I have two png image files that I would like my android app to combine programmatically into one png image file and am wondering if it is possible to do so? If so, what I would like to do is just overlay them on each other to create one file. The idea behind this is that I have a handful of png files, some with a portion of the image on the left with the rest transparent and the others with an image on the right and the rest transparent. And based on user input it will combine the two to make one file to display. (And I cant just display the two images side by side, they need to be one file). Is this possible to do programmatically in android and how so?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if it's possible to have an app that has a portion of its code implemented using Android 1.5 (API Level 3) and part using 1.6. (For example maybe implementing one of the app's activities in 1.6 while the overall app is in 1.5)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a Note 10.1 2014 and I've got a duplicated SIM of the one that I have in my S4. I tried sending out a message from the Note 10.1 but it failed. I'm wondering if it's impossible for me to use the same phone number to send a text message from either device which shares the same duplicated SIM card.
