I'm getting two duplicate Facebook notifications, one typically several minutes after first one. I'm using a Nexus 4 with the FB App installed. I assume one notification is from the FB website and the second is from the FB App? Anyway, I temporarily deleted the FB App and second notifications stopped. So how do I configure to receive just one notice, preferably the late arrival.

I'm new to Android, so maybe this is an Android problem rather than an N1 problem, but my phone keeps getting error messages whenever I try to check my notifications through my Facebook app.

I'm running the custom rom listed below. previously i had "missed call" which had been giving me duplicate sms notifications (with local notifications off), i then uninstalled that along with the sms, mms apps which I replaced with handcent, which also has custom led notifications for sms.
Now I have two things going on, one- there is a little sms icon, just like the one from missed call, sans the red # mark, that always stays in notification area, and when i pull down not. menu it reads 0 sms. So, why is it there? Is it part of Handcent? Handcent uses the icon I picked from it's menu, which is different than what's in the not. bar.
two- still getting 2 sms not. ringtones, first one is default, i think, second one is one I selected, just one new notification though, which is the one I picked.
Now, I still have a ringtone under main settings>notification ringtones, which I assumed I would need for emails, but may hap that is cause of dual ringtones for sms messages, as I have one selected in handcent. ok just got a brainstorm, disable not. ringtone in handcent, but leave custom led, then leave ringtone in settings menu, which should alert for both. I would like to have different ringtones though, for text and email, but missed call was giving me issues, like dual notifications, not audible, but in bar, one i would always have to clear which became annoying. Also, I really like the custom led's, but when there is more than one alert, it just defaults to green, instead of displaying one color, then another.
side question- is there a way, or an app, to make separate ringtones for sms and email? yeah, missed call, i know about that one already, if someone was able to troubleshoot similar prob (dual notifications, with droid one OFF), then I would gladly listen, I used it fine before, maybe it has something to do with the rom I'm using, everything else works perfect with it though.
Ive been getting duplicate email notifications ( google), as well as text messages. How do I fix that? I dont have handcent, Ive heard lots of problemsw/ that. Im new to Droid there's so much to learn. thanks in advance for any feedback.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got duplicate ringtones in the phone and notifications menu settings. These ringtones were acquired from marketplace apps and saved. For instance, I have two 'Hello sir C3PO', three 'Incoming transmission', two 'Resistance is futile', and five 'You belong with me'. That's what I get for letting the kids play.
Anyway, I have removed the apps, but, I cannot find the files to remove the duplicates from the menu list. I've checked the /system/media/audio files and checked the SD card and cannot find them.
Anyone have a workaround for this yet, sorry if it was already posted in a diffrent thread.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHad the g2 touch / hero for a few days now and love it but today I have a problem with contacts being duplicated in the people app. All of my contacts are stored in Gmail and there are no dupes but today all of my contacts with a facebook profile are showing twice. Also, and I don't know if this is related, the people app no longer shows any albums for facebook contacts although they are there if I access them through the albums app.

I had a look with in the settings but cannot find anyway of turning them back on.
Over the last couple of weeks, I've had some problems with Facebook for HTC (between contacts and FriendStream). Through performing some fixes, I've had to remove my Facebook account from the phone, and set it up again twice. Well tonight, after removing the account, I could not get ANY of my contacts to show up at all. This includes my regular Google contacts (not just the ones synced with FB. It looked like the phone was trying to sync and never loading when I opened the people app.Well, this went on for about an hour with no luck, even with rebooting several times. I finally decided to setup my Facebook account again. Sure enough, once I setup the FB account, all of my contacts showed up fine with no syncing issue. The problem is, now when I go into a contact that has no FB contact link, press the "link" icon on the top right, select Facebook, it lists multiples of ALL of my Facebook friends. Almost as if each time I setup my Facebook account again, it just re-imported all of my FB friends without replacing them.How can I delete these duplicates, or even all of my Facebook contacts / friends from my phone, and re-import them? Anyone else have this issue? It seems that removing my Facebook account from my phone not only causes problems with all of my regular Google contacts, but also doesn't delete the Facebook friends left behind on the phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason on my Nexus 5 running Liquidsmooth AOSP, I can not receive any GCM push notifications. My push notifications work fine on stock. This is happening for apps like instagram, twitter, snapchat, etc. It only appears to happen when my phone in deep sleep, when the screen is off for roughly 5+ minutes. I have tried PNF, different gapps, different kernels. Also on a clean install of course.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor awhile, my Facebook push notifications were working just fine until I had updated to Jelly Bean. I tried everything.. to clearing cache, data, uninstalling, and even the BlackBerry trick again (worked once before) and couldn't for the life of me figure out why they weren't working anymore. I thought maybe it was Facebook clashing with JB. I read everywhere and found out some people had no issues and some had some where every push notifications didn't work and some just Facebook.
Well I spend a day or so trying to figure it out and finally found a new, simple fix.
1) Open the Facebook app.
2) Tap on menu button on the top left
3) Account > Account Settings
4) Apps and Websites
5) Clear out Facebook related apps (Like Friendcaster or HTC Sense)
6) Clear data on the Facebook app and launch app
I noticed some off the apps in there have a push notification toggle button and I believe it was messing up the push notification system of there was to many to keep up with.
Once I spent 20 mins clearing those apps out, I cleared data and started the app notifications started working again. I didn't know it worked until someone wrote on my wall and I was shocked to see a notification!

On my GNex running CM10 (stable release), I have Facebook notifications turned off completely. But twice today and yesterday my phone will vibrate and it comes up with a notification for Facebook..and all it does is open the app right to my newsfeed. I don't have any actual notifications in FB either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.
In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.
Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"
Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.
None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.
I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.
Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.
I'm a longtime iPhone user (since 3G) who just switched to Android and the Galaxy Note 3 this week. There are several things I miss about iOS, and one of them is badge notifications without the need for a 3rd party app. Ideally, when I'm due a notification from Facebook, I want only a badge notification on the app's icon, like you do in iOS, and I'm getting that with "Missed it!" installed. However, I don't want an actual notification (via audible tone and indicator) in the notification bar. Is it possible to disable notifications via the notification bar, but still have it display a badge notification on the icon?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Droid Maxx. I downloaded the Facebook app, but the problem is that it places all of my Facebook direct messages (emails, not "likes" or comments) on the main pulldown screen (the one where you swipe from the top when the phone is open).
I don't want this. I'm not a huge Facebook user, and I only want to see that stuff when I directly log into Facebook. I tried unchecking the box in Settings > Active Notifications, but these notifications are still appearing. With the iPhone, it was easy to simply turn off push notifications, but I can't seem to find this on the Droid Maxx.
Is there a setting I'm missing that controls the content that appears on the pulldown menu? How can I stop this from happening?
How can i make it so i view my facebook notifications in my facebook app? I dont want to keep going in-between the facebook app and my browser to check every single one.

With the legend i am am awhere of the Sence UI ? i liked how facebook contacts synced to my phone and when i rang i saw there display pictures, does the Nexus one do this?

I've been using facebook home on my Nexus One since Friday evening and I actually really like it as a lock screen, but I lament every time I hit the home button and don't go back to the default launcher.
Can modify the facebook home apk so that the lock screen is still facebook home, but so that when swiping up to hit the 'Apps' bobble or hitting the home button, you get taken to the normal launcher. Can it be done?

I have it set up to receive SMS notifications from a handful of my friends whenever they update their status, post something on my wall, etc. and it used to work perfectly on my Blackberry. I got the new EVO a couple of weeks ago and am no longer receiving them. Anyone else having this issue and if so, is there a fix?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have seen that HTC Sense devices ignore multicolor LED notifications but I assumed that the Nexus One is capable of doing them. Why are they not possible anymore? Why are they specified in the Android SDK and even the Google supported phones drop that feature? At the moment we only see a white flashing trackball which sucks! There is no possibility to do reasonable silent alarms anymore. Can someone tell me why?
