General :: What Causes Gmail App To Leave Outgoing Messages Stuck In Outbox

Sep 12, 2012

For years now (and on many different phones and Android OS versions), I've run into a reoccurring issue in the Gmail app: now and again, a batch of messages I've told the app to send will get stuck in the Outbox as "Sending" and won't ever send, even after I've rebooted the phone, cleared the cache, insured the phone is online, etc... This only seems to happen when there's some sort of an internet connection issue, but I haven't been able to figure out if it's associated with one particular thing: airplane mode, being out of connection range, having auto-sync or background data turned off, etc... If it was caused by being in one particular state, I'd just avoid sending email while in that state.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Stuck In Outbox / Exchange Corporate Account

Oct 4, 2010

I have a Droid 2, brand new from Verizon. My company uses Exchange Server 2003 R2. No PIN is required, and OMA is set up for my account. I can receive emails to the phone with no problems; the setup was simple and the messages sync'd to the phone quickly. I can't send, reply, or forward messages. The messages stay in the outbox. The replies I seem to find on this topic online seem to be related to IMAP/POP accounts, and this is neither.

Motorola Droid :: Gmail Not Sending / Syncing Right - Sitting In Outbox

Mar 2, 2010

Just today I have three emails that just sit in the "outbox" in "sending" mode and do nothing. I also notice that I will read all of my emails and then the "unread" number still shows, i.e. 4 - and I will wait a while, and log onto gmail.com on my notebook and the ones that I just read are sitting in there unread or undeleted. What gives? I am mostly concerned with them sitting in the outbox. Its been running flawlessly and yes IMAP.

General :: Can't Send GMail / Stuck On Sending

Nov 18, 2011

I have an LG Optimus V, rooted, 2.2 (not sure what it's rooted to, it arrived that way). It has worked fine (except auto-rotate quit awhile back, I gave up trying to fix it) but for the last 2 days or so, GMail absolutely WILL NOT send. Every single email I try to send, it always gets hung on "Sending..." and it won't move a muscle.

It has nothing to do with the quality of the connection, I'm at home operating over a Wi-Fi.

Moreover, the "Sending..." never goes away unless I "wipe" the phone. Even turning it off & on won't do it, and I have no way of deleting it without deleting the entire conversation. I look up and every email I've sent, EVERY ONE has "Sending...." on the screen, and short of doing a "wipe" it absolutely won't go away.

General :: Cannot Send Gmail Messages On Android

Jul 21, 2012

As of today, I cannot send or reply to gmail messages on my Razr Maxx phone. I can receive messages, however. It worked fine yesterday and in prior weeks.

To try to fix this, I went to gmail in my browser and made sure I did not have too many devices open (a problem I encountered earlier this week). I also cleared the data and cache on my phone and rebooted. Still no luck. I can send messages via gmail in Thunderbird, so the problem appears to be partly phone related. It is my primary account, so I can't delete it without going back to factory settings, which I wish to avoid.

HTC Incredible : Gmail Messages Should Appear On Phone Without Having To Refresh Or Manually Sync Gmail App

May 14, 2010

im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.

considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?

General :: How To Stop Saving SENT Messages On Gmail Server

Mar 23, 2013

Every message I send from Gmail on my phone (HTC One S) shows up twice when I log into Gmail from an Internet Browser. I read this: [URL] which explains that I need to set my SENT messages to not be saved on the server (so that it shows up only in the IMAP/SENT folder, and not that folder plus the GMAIL/SENT folder).

But I don't see any settings in the mail app to do that. I even looked in the Gmail app, and didn't see them either. I am using IMAP and the default mail app on the HTC.

I switched to the Gmail app and though the settings don't exist to save (or not) on the server, when I send from this app I don't get duplicate sent emails.

Tap your power button to power off the screen.

Wait a few seconds and return.

You'll find you just sent the draft to yourself.

General :: Completely Remove App And Leave No Trace?

May 9, 2013

I have an app that when someone downloads it from the Play Store, recognizes the phone and connects to a server (Internet is needed) so every time I open it I have all my data and my "app activity" shown there. So, here's the thing: I want to sell the phone to a friend of mine, but I don't want (neither does he) to reset to factory because he wants a large amount of the apps I have already installed and it is part of the price.

So, I ask you: Is there a way to completely remove-uninstall an app and ALL of its data so that there is no way for the app to have MY data displayed, and basically the app is "reseted' to factory, so that my friend can use from scratch?

HTC EVO 4G :: Gmail Messages Not Going To Laptop

I've only had my Evo for a few days, so maybe this is easy to fix. I can't find an answer in the manual. I set up the phone to get my g mail, and this seems to work just fine. However, I do most of my e-mail stuff at home on my laptop (using Outlook), and I've noticed that many of the e-mails that I get on the phone never make it to the laptop. Not all of them, just some of them, but some pretty important e-mails are MIA on the Dell. If it were to be the other way around it wouldn't bother me at all.

Android :: Can Gmail Messages Be Stored On G1?

Jan 31, 2009

I have tried searching the forums for an answer with no success. I am hoping there is a way of saving "X" amount of G mail emails to the phone rather than them being accessed via a data connection. I recently went on holiday and wanted to access emails that contained flight references etc that I had already received before traveling. However, I didn't want to connect to a Roaming carrier for a connection. Basically, is there a G mail client on the G1 that can store messages?

General :: Droid Incredible Won't Leave In Awake Mode Even After Factory Reset

Jan 18, 2012

I have a Droid Incredible that will not enter Sleep mode -- the "Awake time" stays the same as the "Up Time" no matter how often I reboot the phone. I removed any recently downloaded apps and went so far as to do a full factory reset -- the problem remains.

Here's what happens: My battery, which formerly lasted for about 12 hours of regular use, now lasts no more than 4. Settings > About Phone > Battery shows that the Up Time and the Awake Time are the same. "Battery Use" lists a bunch of non-app program (Display, Voice Calls, Cell Standby, Android System, etc), and clicking the little graph at the top of the screen shows that, while the "Screen on", "Phone Signal" and "Charging" go in and out depending on whether the phone is on, has signal or is charging, the "Awake" bar is solidly blue -- as in it has always been awake. Moreover, the phone gets noticeably warm, as if I were using it for an hour or two straight.

I first had this problem a month or so ago. After searching on this forum and others I adjusted the sync rates on things like Facebook and Twitter apps and deleted a couple of apps. The problem went away and I thought all was fixed. Then, yesterday, I was on an airplane, turned my phone off at takeoff and back on upon landing, and soon after I noticed the Awake problem was back.

I hadn't downloaded any new apps recently but went back and deleted a few downloaded in the last three weeks or so anyway. I looked at the current apps running, checked sync frequency on the same old things again, went back to these forums and tried everything that was listed (downloaded some sort of program monitoring apps, force stopped things like Calender that may have been problematic, uninstalled recent updates), all to no avail.
