Anyone having issues with gmail and their evo today? Nothing has changed in my settings / haven't installed anything new in the past few days but gmail isn't downloading new messages automatically. I can open the gmail app and manually sync it and new messages will show up but outside of that there is nothing doing.

I accessed my Google Play account from my daughters phone, to download an app for her. I unticked the option to automatically download emails (or something similar).
But, she's getting all my GMails automatically downloaded onto her phone.Where do I go to change the configuration - so the only place my GMails go is my phone?
I just received a replacement N1 because my original unit accumulated quite a bit of dust under the screen. Anyway, ever since I transitioned to the replacement unit I've been noticing some strange behavior in my Gmail accounts, namely the fact that all my new email messages are being automatically marked as read. It doesn't happen immediately as best as I can tell, but probably in the neighborhood of 30-60 minutes after they are received.Has anyone else ever come across this issue and can advise me of a solution?

Also, when I get a picture message, it doesn't automatically download the picture. It notifies me, and then I have to manually click "download"
View 17 Replies View RelatedI read today that there was a new version of Swype available from their download page, so I logged in and downloaded it and installed it. Everything it working fine. However, since I installed it I have noticed in the notification bar that I have now downloaded two new Swype installed files. Thing is, I never went back and redownloaded it. Once I had opened up Twicca and once I had opened up the Market apps and it just started donwloading.
Anyone have any idea what's going on and how it's downloading without me instructing it to?
im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
For some reason when I want to download attachments (usually jpegs) that someone has sent me via text message, I have to turn off my wifi and and use either 3g or 4g. Why would they not load via wifi?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Eris stops receiving mms messages after about 5 weeks and sometimes sms messages dont come thru either. This is the second time this has happened. Often im not even alerted that a message tried to be received. Other times i get this generic message as an incoming message that says who its from, the message size (which always states 30kb), and expires (5 days from the current date). It also shows a gray box that you can touch to download but it tries and then sends a message to the bottom of the phone that says "download of message unsuccessful." Occasionally when a new pic message tries to come thru, it forces an old unsuccessful picture message thru. Verizon has no answer or resolution nor does HTC. I have tried using the other message programs and they dont work either.

The problem I am having is that a few of my previously read messages aren't showing up in K-9 mail. They should be in the most recent 25 messages but they don't show up. Any idea what's up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAsking a question for my father in law who is having problems with his EVO (I have an EVO but can't replicate this problem to help).
During the past week, the EVO with the problem was not downloading MMS messages onto the phone. The download process would start but would result in an error that said something like "generic network failure." We thought it was a temporary network connection issue. This started with the stock "Messaging" app installed on the EVO.
What then happened is VERY ODD. All of a sudden literally HUNDREDS of old previously deleted messages dating back to June of this year (yes, it is now NOVEMBER) were being downloaded and loaded into the messaging app. This happened not only with the thread that could not receive the recent MMS message but essentially ALL THREADS from whomever might have contacted my father in law since June! This happened once, we totally cleared out the messaging app threads and even deleted the cache information and data through the Manage Applications options on the phone and, once again, receipt of a few current messages would again trigger this FLOOD of text message data from MONTHS ago!!
Has anyone heard of this problem? It seems to me to be related to the Sprint Network because there should be no remnants of any of the old text messages once deleted from the phone itself. We went to a local Sprint store this morning and even did a hard reset BUT upon testing the text apps again, the problem recurred!
This problem occurred first with the stock Messaging app and, thinking that the Messaging app was the problem, we installed ChompSMS with the hope of fixing the issue but the problem occurred with Chomp as well.
Again, I am posting this for my father in law's EVO...I have an EVO too, running ChompSMS with NO PROBLEMS...matter of fact I have NEVER heard of or seen this issue with many-month-old text REAPPEARING on the phone. Any suggestions or thoughts?
Is there any way to download attachments from the Gmail app rather than going to the browser version? This is kinda annoying as I have to either login to my gmail through the browser or forward the mail to my other email account.

I can send them but everytime I hit the download button for a message I get an error message saying that download was unsuccessful. Does anyone else have this problem? Could it be because I am a new customer and this is the first day?

I absolutely loath those messages that scream, blare music, say offensive stuff, etc. With my old Lotus, you actually had to choose to play the attached audio, but I can't find anything anywhere to set this on my new Evo. If anyone knows how to either make the audio in messages manual instead of automatic, or just disable their audio completely, I'd be eternally grateful to learn this!

View 6 Replies View RelatedI own a T-Mobile Comet and have been able to download the iPhone MMS messages and send pictures before. I have owned this phone for roughly a year, and starting a couple weeks ago I have been unable to receive the MMS messages or send my pictures, I use Handcent. What happens when I get the message- It says Subject:no subject 1 KB and has a download button, after I press it all that happens is it says "Downloading" for hours on end and never actually does. When I send pictures the send spiral just spins endlessly and it doesn't send. My mobile data is on, my WiFi is off and I'm not sure what else I need to do.

Then I remembered that being in the UK I had recently taken advantage of changing my email from googlemail to gmail, although I had changed this in my mail on the phone it seemed to upset the marketplace downloads
Changed it back to googlemail and all works fine.
Does this piece of crap not have the option to download .doc or .docx attachments? With my Incredible I can click the attachment and it downloads it automatically. This thing tries to open it instead of download it. Any thoughts on this?

"Unfortunately , Gmail has stoped"
I tried:
- clear cache & dalvik
- clear settings
- remove app preferences
- uninstall (TB) and download from play store again
- remove account and setting account again
Attachements are correctly downloaded.it crashes just after download.
Every few weeks or so my Droid keeps deleting all of my texts. No message with it or anything I just open my texts and there all gone. What the hell is causing this? I told verizon about a half dozen times and they told me that its impossible that its doing this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI love Handcent but this inability to resend automatically is killing me. I don't have good signal at home (basement flat), so I often send a message and then just wait for the signal to drift in, so it sends. My old blackberry or Nokia had no problems with this. Handcent doesn't handle it well. it either gets stuck with the little whirling whindmill thing and never sends, or it comes up with the red X and the process stalls. I actually prefer the red X, as at least that enables a quick "retry". but it seems to be totally random whether it gets stuck or fails to send. Why oh why is such a simple feature not bug-free in an app like Handcent that is so popular and has been around for some time now?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my new DROID a few weeks ago, new email messages arrived and I was notified by a ringtone, and a blinking green light in the upper right corner. Now that has stopped completely. If I want to check for new email messages I have to manually start the email app and manually select refresh for the app to go out and look for new messages (via Yahoo pop mail). What happened? Is there a simple setting somewhere that got switched?
