Samsung Galaxy S : Ringtone Volume Go On Level 6 To Loud To Room-filling Boombox
Aug 20, 2010
why does the ringtone volume go from too quiet on level 6 to loud to room-filling boombox level on level 7?
there should be one step in between 6 is way to low and 7 is way to high.
using JM2 maybe it's fixed on a later firmware?
is there any other way to add a more sensitive adjustment?

I put some MP3s on my Inc and the audio player plays them fine and they're pretty loud coming out of the speaker.
Now, I took one of those MP3s and set it as my ring tone. I turned the ringtone volume all the way up and when I got a call, it's like half the volume as it played as an MP3.
Why do I lose so much volume? Is there any way to make that louder?

I have just purchased my X10 no more than a day ago and find that when talking to someone the ear piece volume is not very loud. I have set the volume setting to max and its still very faint and hard to hear.
I also find the Ring Tone Volume is not very loud, even after setting it to max. I have confirmed the Firmware is the latest version, just as a process of elimination.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or could be that I have a faulty handset?

I got my phone about a month ago and got sick of the lags and decided to upgrade. Upgraded to I9000XWJM2...much better but still see lags in some places....however the thing that bothers me is the phone volume went down! Sometimes I have to strain myself to hear on the speaker!

Is there a way to make the ringtone volume and notification volume the same? When I turn the ringer volume down using the side buttons on my phone it only turns the ringer down, nothing else. I'm coming from the Evo where you can click "use same volume for both" or something to that effect. Is this a 2.2 thing?

I'm writing an Android application that plays back voice mails using Media Player, which are just WAV files that have been sent to the device. When I play the file, it's played on the device's speaker, or else it plays through headphones if they're plugged in. What I want to do is play the file so that it sounds to the user as if it's at the same volume level as a normal phone call. Is there a way to route playback so that the file is played through the phone's ear piece instead of out of the speaker?

Yes, I work in a restaurant and my default ringtone just doesn't do it (can't hear it)! I need a loud ringtone (not a siren, or alarm bell, etc) just a nice loud recording or ringtone.

I posted this in the Eris 2.1 leak bugs and fixes thread, but it was lost and ignored in a "back-n-forth" by two other members."For some reason, my ringtones get very loud when receiving a phone call.Regardless of how low I set the volume, it starts at the set volume for a split second, then gets loud to about 80% of full volume.Tried rebooting a few times and double checking the settings.Any one else experience this? Recently purchased the Virgin Mobile Supreme (Sprint Vital, ZTE N9810). The one thing that is bothering me is that there is only one volume setting for the combined ringtone and notifications. I would like to set these volumes separately.
I tried one volume control tool, but even though it had 'separate' controls changing ringtone changed notification and vice versa.

I'm a brand new HTC Desire user, and on the advice of some friends I've installed Meridian media player and Audiomanager (among other apps, of course). The problem I have is that the minimum volume for media is still too loud for me while listening to music at work. Is there any way I could say, lower the overall volume of the phone? Secondly, what kind of app can people suggest as an equalizer for adjusting bass/treble etc?

Overall I'm pleased with the phone, but the volume seems a bit quiet. I've maxed all the volume settings, but my ring tone and notifications are definitely less audible and crisp than on my old HTC Magic. Has anybody else noticed this?

I've had the Desire for about 3 weeks now and it's a brilliant phone. However, quite often I listen to music from my Desire through my headphones to help me get to sleep. Unfortunately though, the lowest media volume setting is too loud through my headphones. It's seems to be either a choice of no music (i.e media volume turned to zero) or the next level up (which is too loud). Is there anyway to get a volume in between the two? I've tried apps such as AudioManager but to no avail

My phone seems to be eating my battery away more than normal. No new apps have been installed and I am only using the phone how I normally have. what could be causing this? And also the in call volume is way to low, I am a gas engineer and working on site with this phone is a nightmare I can not hear a thing. Will the 2.1 update change this? I can not wear a Bluetooth headset for too long as it starts to hurt.

Got a Desire partly because once the 32GB comes out (on pre-order) I'll be using it as an mp3 player as well as a phone. Managed to find a good program to sync my music with it (MediaMonkey) and now the only other hurdle to this seems to be the volume levels which are too low for my liking. Will simply getting headphones with a volume control push the volume up further? I'm planning on buying some headphones for it that'll include a mic, volume control and maybe a couple of buttons to control the music, but is there anything that has all these? I'm not keen on bluetooth devices in the slightest, so just want some super-duper in-ear headphones really.

I just got a Droid 2 and I think the phone is amazing... except for one thing. I am amazed that the volume rocker doesn't function logically like any other volume rocker. I have heard brief mention of this being a common problem, but I can't seem to find any other threads on the issue. Here's what I want my volume rocker to do: (just like any other phone,) I want it to adjust volume level, then go to Vibrate (everything!) and then go to Silence (everything!) Right now, when it goes to silent, some things still vibrate, and when it's on vibrate, some things still ring--and it is driving me crazy! On a related note, it would also be awesome if I could set it up to silence all notifications beside phone calls, text messages, and the alarm, when I want it to, like when I'm sleeping. If somebody could humor me and tell me exactly what I need to do to get my D2 to function in these respects like a regular phone, but while not impeding its other awesome functions, that would be great.

Just wanted to make sure if this is a common issue or something wrong with my handset (so that I can try getting it replaced).
When I hear calls using phone's default speaker, the sound comes okay till one volume level. If I move up, the sound distorts.
If I use speaker-phone, things are worse. After a certain level, sound crackles a lot.
For music via phone's loud speaker, the sound doesn't crackle. But as identified by many, I can hear music with no bass & lots of treble.
Is this normal for Desire?
Comparing it with my wife's N95 (which has stereo speakers) was a nightmare for me.

I do have the option on that decreases the volume once I move it, but even before I move it, it's sometimes very hard to hear unless if there is no other noise. Could it be the actual ringtones? I used ringdroid to edit down songs and make a ringtone on the aria.

I'm having a small issue with my current phone and headphones. The problem is that headphones and phone have no problem with higher output volume. Temporary solution - speaker boost, trouble is: it causes any equalizer to FC.
How can I increase the volume at kernel level? If that's not possible then rom level would be enough. No apps, just pure source changes.
