I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?

General :: Android Phone For Skype Type Video Calls
Feb 29, 2012I'm looking for a cheap-ish, reasonable spec., probably secondhand Android phone for my daughter which must be capable of video (pref. 2 way) Skype-type calls via wifi.
It won't be having any kind of SIM (PAYG or contract) in it initially, but must function as Skype-type video phone via wifi - unless someone tells me that's not possible! I can put my own O2 SIM in it if necessary to set up whatever needs doing to make it function.
Is it possible to set up a phone in this way? (ie. to be able to make & receive Skype-type video calls without having a SIM card in it).
If it is - how exactly do I do it? Should I use Skype as a carrier or are there other providers who would do the job better/easier? Which Android phones will best do the job?

I have traced the problem to the bug in Skype that doesn't delete com.skype.raider or something like that. The only way to get rid of this file is to root and delete it from /data/data which is only accessed by rooting. I don't want to root, but I need Skype. I have heard you can temporarily root your phone. Does phone automaticaly go back to stock after you restart?

Dec 11, 2013my s4 recently developed a problem where both audio and microphone are disabled ( speaker, headset, earpiece.. all audio input and outputs ) during phone calls using the default 'phone' app , but works fine using vibr , Skype ect. There is no other issue with the sound everything works fine.
I have tried....
-a factory reset
-certain apps that divert sound to one output
-plugging and unplugging a headset
-contacting my service provider ... for no reason as its the phone that's at fault.
I have run out of options and am not tech savy with phones / android

However, no matter which rom i used, when trying to power down the phone it would power off and boot into clockwork mod. I could never actually power the device off. I of course am going to get the new phone and I am going to give her my current Brand new Galaxy S3, which is only like 2 weeks old (2 weeks and 1 day to be exact). and I am just gonna hook myself up on the new line and give her mine. My question is, can you hook up phones that are rooted/Rom'd. I believe you can, cause I hooked up my buddies phone temporarily a week or so ago, and it was a LG Revo with the Gingervolt ROM on it. and they gave me a new SIM card, hooked it up and i was ready to go. So I don't think their should be an issue.
and yes I know this has been discussed over and over, but Galaxy Note 3 or LG G2 ? They are both amazing. But I want the one that has the best Dev work on it. and I do like the size of the Note 3. But I heard the LG G2 has a bit of a better camera, but I am not a huge photo taker, mostly just at parties, and when I am playing shows with my band I will have my GF take pics with my S3, and they turn out perfect. so I don't think that's a deal breaker for me.

So for instance - if I wanted to, I could wake up my mac remotely using my phone, and start having a conversation with anyone who happened to be near my computer as if I had called a phone number. I could activate video streaming from my phone to my computer or from my computer to my phone if I wanted to, all controlled by my phone to my computer or vice versa
So it's sort of like skype, but only between my phone and the computer, and I can activate it even when my laptop is closed using ssh wake on demand or whatever.
