is there anyway to make skype to evo calls? i have searched youtube and tried to do this but just cant seem to get it to work with fring...any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated...sorry if this has been discussed before

Is there anyway to make VoIP calls or Skype Out calls on the EVO? I am switching from the iPhone 3GS and am going out of the country on vacation in a month and I got used to making Skype Out calls over WiFi when out of the country.

(im dialing a US number)... is there something else I can use.. I dont use google voice because i have an account with skype and most friends of mine do to... are they any work arounds for this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have nimbuzz on my milestone 2.1. I am trying to make VOIP calls on my skype account through nibuzz. When using wifi it works great. When using 3g I have a weird prob.
I can receive calls fine but I when I call someone I can't hear the person answering and he/she can't hear me. It won't work even with echo sound test. Does anyone have any idea why this would happen. I tried uninstalling and re installing and all that so.
Can anyone tell me what I have to do to be able to receive calls to my Skype phone number on my DX? Other than setting Skype to forward to my cell number.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a cheap-ish, reasonable spec., probably secondhand Android phone for my daughter which must be capable of video (pref. 2 way) Skype-type calls via wifi.
It won't be having any kind of SIM (PAYG or contract) in it initially, but must function as Skype-type video phone via wifi - unless someone tells me that's not possible! I can put my own O2 SIM in it if necessary to set up whatever needs doing to make it function.
Is it possible to set up a phone in this way? (ie. to be able to make & receive Skype-type video calls without having a SIM card in it).
If it is - how exactly do I do it? Should I use Skype as a carrier or are there other providers who would do the job better/easier? Which Android phones will best do the job?
Here is what I would like to do:
I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?
I would like to make some phone calls that do NOT appear on my Verizon phone bill. I have a DINC and want to call a cell phone. Both ends are in the US. I don't mind paying a service such as Skype. Is there a way to make this happen?

Well that feature has been hacked and re-enabled by one of our members by the name of xeudoxus, who I have been talking to and he says this was quite simple and took him a matter of 15 minutes to do it. To install this, simply download the apk that's in the thread, copy and paste it in your memory card and install it using a fill manager application. When it is done installing go to the application and call us to tell us how awesome it runs. So for instance - if I wanted to, I could wake up my mac remotely using my phone, and start having a conversation with anyone who happened to be near my computer as if I had called a phone number. I could activate video streaming from my phone to my computer or from my computer to my phone if I wanted to, all controlled by my phone to my computer or vice versa
So it's sort of like skype, but only between my phone and the computer, and I can activate it even when my laptop is closed using ssh wake on demand or whatever.
Is there any way to make video calls with this phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used my phone with no problem yesterday (made and received calls), then went to sleep and charged my phone overnight. When I woke up this morning, I tried to make a call and just got "this number is not in use", thought it was something to do with that persons number. Tried to call some other numbers and always got the same thing. I asked my brother to call me and it just went straight to voicemail. Then, when I opened "Phone" I noticed that there was something wrong with my last few calls made. Phone numbers here in Iceland are 7 letters, for example 1234567.. but all the recent calls I made looked like 6171234567, that 617 always got added before the number I tried to call and that made it fail. I only see 1234567 when trying to make the call, when I look at the phone while listening to "This number is not in use", I never see that 617 until I've hung up and check the call log. I did try to call +3541234567 though (354 being the Icelandic country code) and that went through fine. But if I don't use it, the 617 gets added. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? I thought it might be some setting so automatically add a country/area code before a number or something like that, but didn't find anything in settings.

Am I missing an additional setting to switch from the phone's mic and speakers to my the connected bluetooth headset or is this a bug in the software?

I have a Skype-Out plan and a Skype number I use for my business. With the new Skype application, will calls people make to my Skype number ring the Skype app on my Droid? If so, will this be a huge battery drain if Skype is constantly waiting for incoming calls?

As I understand it, it's not really running Skype at all, it's just a fancy way to call their local Skype number, which you can actually do on any cell phone, right? So you still use minutes. If you make long-distance calls, you'll also use credits. If you make local-calls, I assume you don't? And do you use credit if you make Skype-to-Skype calls? View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed VoiceSearch_2.1 and HTC_IME mod successfully. The voice to text works great! However I can't seem to make the Phone Call functionality work. When I long press the search button and use the command "Call <name>" where <name> is someone in my list of contacts (People) e.g. "Call Home" it recognises the words correctly but all it does is bring up a result screen from a Google Web Search. Am I doing something stupid?

It seems that the issue has to do with the SE dialer. Is there a way to go to the stock generic Android dialer? If not, any other suggestions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just published an app to Google Play. It is an app that allows people (mostly tourists) in my area to easily find businesses around them. One functionality that my app offers is to make a phone call to these companies by tapping a button in the app, including emergency numbers.
Google Play says that the app requires "direct phone access, it can call phone numbers without your intervention, which can lead to a high phone bill, but not emergency numbers". This doesn't completely fit my intention.
My app would work just fine if it had to ask the user every time it wanted to make a call, and it doesn't call anything when no buttons are tapped, plus I DO want the app to be able to call emergency numbers (with the user's consent off course).
Is it possible to make phone calls redirection through viber? example, someone calls you on mobile 1 in a regular call and it redirects the call through viber to mobile 2 the same for whats upp but for messages?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy first question is about the car dock. I am in California and we have a hands free law. I cannot stand wearing the stupid little ear pieces. Right now, I am using my Garmin Zumo GPS as a hands free device. The Zumo syncs BT with my Blackberry and the Zumo cradle has a mic, so I don't need a ear piece. The output is sent through my truck speakers with a tape deck adapter. Works great. My question is this - If I have the phone in the car dock, can I use it is in the same fashion as the Garmin, minus the BT sync of course? Will I be able to make speakerphone calls while in the cradle and port the sound through the tape deck adapter?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a weird issue that has sprung up twice now with making phone calls and I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Visually everything looks like it is functional with my phone service on the phone. I have bars, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I can't make any outbound calls either through my contacts or by manually dialing. I the number pad and it makes the response noise but doesn't actually type the number. In contacts, I hit call and the same thing happens. The fix I have found is just to soft boot the phone. Now I hear you all saying "No big deal, just restart." Yeah, it is no big deal unless I have to make a call in an emergency say calling 911 or things of that nature. Waiting for 5 minutes for my phone to reboot in an emergency can cost lives. I know I am being a little dramatic, but c'mon, at the end of the day, it is a phone and it is having trouble making calls.

My mom called me like 25 times asking me to look up something, when I FINALLY got the call on the house phone I was able to look it up in maps but unable to call her back at all (was using wifi). My EVDO data services work fine but theres not voice AT ALL. I tried calling my number from like 5 phones nothing, I also reset it turned off the cellular radio and turned it back on nothing. Now for some reason the only time I can receive calls and make calls is when I have it set to 1xRTT only....Idk wtf going on but the one time I needed to use the PHONE on my handset it decided to not work....I had like 3 people try and call me and nothing not very convent.
