Skype keeps showing up in my task killer window, but I don't ever open it, nor will I ever use it. I thought I turned off any and all ways it could open, but apparently not. I really don't want it sucking up my battery life.

Here is what I would like to do:
I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?
My dad is going overseas and has a BlackBerry Storm with Skype and I have a Droid with Skype. Can I call him overseas for free using skype? I know that if we both used our laptops to talk it would be free, so is there any difference in using skype mobile to skype mobile?

I'm looking for a cheap-ish, reasonable spec., probably secondhand Android phone for my daughter which must be capable of video (pref. 2 way) Skype-type calls via wifi.
It won't be having any kind of SIM (PAYG or contract) in it initially, but must function as Skype-type video phone via wifi - unless someone tells me that's not possible! I can put my own O2 SIM in it if necessary to set up whatever needs doing to make it function.
Is it possible to set up a phone in this way? (ie. to be able to make & receive Skype-type video calls without having a SIM card in it).
If it is - how exactly do I do it? Should I use Skype as a carrier or are there other providers who would do the job better/easier? Which Android phones will best do the job?

I have traced the problem to the bug in Skype that doesn't delete com.skype.raider or something like that. View 1 Replies View Relatedmy s4 recently developed a problem where both audio and microphone are disabled ( speaker, headset, earpiece.. all audio input and outputs ) during phone calls using the default 'phone' app , but works fine using vibr , Skype ect. There is no other issue with the sound everything works fine.
I have tried....
-a factory reset
-certain apps that divert sound to one output
-plugging and unplugging a headset
-contacting my service provider ... for no reason as its the phone that's at fault.

1. Can Qik be used for video chat from Evo to Skype? If so how? I am able to do this with Fring, but i was just wondering if Qik can do this as well.
2. Has anyone had any problems with the weather widget? The stock one that came with the phone. Recently mine has randomly stopped displaying the weather, but it would still show the city i'm in. If i hit refresh it will sometimes display the weather but then it will disappear again.
I want to be able to turn off all incoming and outgoing calls while I'm at the gym. I dont want to be bothered AND sometimes i accidentally call last person when i hit a specific button on my headphones i obviously use my phone as my mp3 player so I want to be able to turn off "phone" connection and maintain data connection for radiotime, slacker, pandora. so i dont think airplane mode would work.
