View 28 Replies View RelatedSo I'm a little confused about Skype on Android. As I understand it, it's not really running Skype at all, it's just a fancy way to call their local Skype number, which you can actually do on any cell phone, right? So you still use minutes. If you make long-distance calls, you'll also use credits. If you make local-calls, I assume you don't? And do you use credit if you make Skype-to-Skype calls? What if someone Skypes you -- do you still use credit? Second, can Fring really do real voip Skype calls? Just using my wifi and no minutes? Can I see all my Skype contacts? Can they see me?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSkype Blocks Fring ? Or Not? Fingerpointing... But Where is Skype for Android? So what will we use now for video calling on our Evo's ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep trying to setup Skype in Fring, and it has a spinning circle above the SKP logo for about 5 minutes until it says that it cannot log into Skype. I tried searching the forums and couldn't find anything. I know some are having the same issues and reporting them on the Fring site, but I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI had to delete Skype from my Mac as it was causing problems (still dont' know why) but anyway I downloaded fring to use skype from my phone. But I'm not sure how to go about adding skype contacts?
It says add contacts but when I type their name in it's looking for them on Fring not skype. What do I do?
All I get is "call terminated" when I pick up and the connection is established. Tried initiating the video call from both ends (PC and EVO) with the same result. anyone?
have not tried on 4G yet since it;s dead at home (have it at the office and couple of streets down from my house - maybe I'll take a walk tonight?)
UPDATE:
-when initiating the call from the PC it rings on the phone and I only get "call terminated" when I pick it up on the EVO
- when initiating the call from the EVO it rings once and it hangs up (does not ring on the PC and I cannot answer it)
doing a restart of the EVO right now
UPDATE 2:
alright, a power off and on of the EVO did it.
I am using fring on htc 4g... It makes a fringe to fringe video call pretty ok. I cant figure out how to dial someones skype account to a PC.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am getting a Galaxy S end of this week or early next week. Wondering how good it will be for VOIP. I am thinking of using either Skype, Fring or Nimbuzz in the background 24x7, connected mostly over 3G but sometimes (at home and at work) over Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is going to drain the battery faster, then I can have it on 3G all the time. I'm more than happy if I can get one day out of it. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have an application open that allows you to send and receive video calls from people using Skype on their PC's, laptops, macs etc?
Using a front camera?
ie Galaxy S (in some places), or iPhone 4 (although I'm sure this would go against their policies..)
my s4 recently developed a problem where both audio and microphone are disabled ( speaker, headset, earpiece.. all audio input and outputs ) during phone calls using the default 'phone' app , but works fine using vibr , Skype ect. There is no other issue with the sound everything works fine.
I have tried....
-a factory reset
-certain apps that divert sound to one output
-plugging and unplugging a headset
-contacting my service provider ... for no reason as its the phone that's at fault.
I have run out of options and am not tech savy with phones / android
Anyone know? I have an acct setup. Says I am online.

I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?
I would like to retrieve the incoming call's phonenumber and do something with it.Could you please help me because I can't find any information about this.Where do i start and how do i get hold of the phone number?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to forward all calls to my number on to the new predefined number automatically. Is it possible to forward incoming call? Probably it is possible for Froyo at least. I found application called Easy Call Forwarding. But many people reckon it dosen't work actually. We can notice forwarded call by onCallForwardingIndicatorChanged() from PhoneStateListener but I have no idea how to set forwarding mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to do is make a phone number click-able I guess you can say.
On my app there is two phone numbers on two different tabs. I want the user to be able to press the phone number (either or) and it will call the number from their phone.
I'm really new in Android programming, so I have a simple question getting a phone number from contacts in my application. The method I want to implement is that the user clicks a button in my app and will be forwarded to the contacts. In contacts user has to click on a phone number and this number should be returned to a textfield. Is there a simple way to do this instead to implement it by ContentResolver?

View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know a way to call a phone number that is in a calendar entry on the Incredible? This is a feature I used 10 times a day on my blackberry and I can't believe there wouldn't be some way to do it on the incredible. I am a sales rep and when I set up an appointment I put the name of the office and then I type the phone number right next to the name. When I opened the entry on my bb I could then click on the number to initiate a call. The incredible doesn't seem to recognize the phone number as anything different than text..
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a new g1 owner and i have heard that you can call anyone through the data plan instead of using your minutes. Is this true? if so how? and what are some concerns and limitations to doing this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy work number is a contact, if I choose that contact to dial, the X goes to do it but in the reception bars area a red circle appears and the screen reverts back to the previous one. I can dial other numbers fine and there is service. My work number is also in all my co-workers contact cards as well. I had one contact that I deleted and added again, and then the X would dial and the call go through. Any thoughts? It is only a few numbers this happens with, no pattern I can see yet.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs anyone using the Skype modified app that allows you to call over the data network? I was wondering how it's working for others. Mine has been horrible as far as call quality. Almost unusable. I'm on 3G. I was wondering if there were any settings that needed to be enabled or unenabled? My Skype WiFi works great.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was curious to know if anyone is aware of any program that allows you to make calls and adds the dashes in the number as you type them. For instance, right now with the Inc when placing a call, the number displays like this:
5555555555
Anyone know if there's a way to make it:
555-555-5555
A little easier on the eyes. I doubt that there is something like this but thought I'd ask.
I've been trying to find out how to choose which contact phone number to call. I'm talking about if I have a mobile number and home number programed to one name.
I'm sure this is an easy thing to do, I just can't figure it out right now.
I have a group that I text to, a sports team, but two of my contacts in the group don't get my messages. They bounce back to me because they are sending to their land phones! Obviously there are multiple phone numbers for these contacts, and the first time this happened I went into the contacts to set the mobile number as default - but that makes no difference. Google Android still tries to send them to the landlines! My phone uses ICS.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I'm used to a blackberry and especially how easy it is to dial out on a blackberry. I just got an x10 and I'm very excited about what I've been able to do so far but dialing out takes 3-5 button presses and some searching for the names of the person I'm looking for.is there an app or other way to get a phone call off to a specific persons number. I'm hoping there may exist some way I can just start typing a name and click "call" like I would on the blackberry.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a serious problem when making calls without a headset, with the phone in my hand. People I call are telling me that they hear a phone number being dialed loudly while I speak to them, as if I am making a call while speaking to them. Today it happened and the person said she had to shout to be heard over this loud noise-which I cant hear!! I must be touching some button or application with my hand or face, but what?

I can even sign in to skype. But When I try to call someone via Skype (call someone to their phone) it just kindda blocks internet connection. neither call works neither surfing the net works. But connection works on my laptop.
