Is it possible to have an application open that allows you to send and receive video calls from people using Skype on their PC's, laptops, macs etc?
Using a front camera?
ie Galaxy S (in some places), or iPhone 4 (although I'm sure this would go against their policies..)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a cheap-ish, reasonable spec., probably secondhand Android phone for my daughter which must be capable of video (pref. 2 way) Skype-type calls via wifi.
It won't be having any kind of SIM (PAYG or contract) in it initially, but must function as Skype-type video phone via wifi - unless someone tells me that's not possible! I can put my own O2 SIM in it if necessary to set up whatever needs doing to make it function.
Is it possible to set up a phone in this way? (ie. to be able to make & receive Skype-type video calls without having a SIM card in it).
If it is - how exactly do I do it? Should I use Skype as a carrier or are there other providers who would do the job better/easier? Which Android phones will best do the job?
Is it possible to use fring to call landlines if you have a Skype phone number? ( I pay monthly for a skype number).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not entirely sure this is even possible, but I am attempting to figure out if it is possible to watch live feeds from the droid to a computer. I ask because I im a dallas cowboys fan that lives in New York so most games aren't broadcast. The nfl mobile app lets me watch live feeds and games, but as you can imagine the screen is only so big. I'd like to watch the video on my computer screen. Is this possible or should I just look for some website that would ultimately do the same thing?
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy s4 recently developed a problem where both audio and microphone are disabled ( speaker, headset, earpiece.. all audio input and outputs ) during phone calls using the default 'phone' app , but works fine using vibr , Skype ect. There is no other issue with the sound everything works fine.
I have tried....
-a factory reset
-certain apps that divert sound to one output
-plugging and unplugging a headset
-contacting my service provider ... for no reason as its the phone that's at fault.

1. Can Qik be used for video chat from Evo to Skype? If so how? I am able to do this with Fring, but i was just wondering if Qik can do this as well.
2. Has anyone had any problems with the weather widget? The stock one that came with the phone. Recently mine has randomly stopped displaying the weather, but it would still show the city i'm in. If i hit refresh it will sometimes display the weather but then it will disappear again.

I have an HTC Magic and I have a couple of contacts who I frequently talk with on skype. Is there anyway to talk with them skype-to-skype on the Android phone?
The Skype Lite app does not allow calling.
I don't mind either calling using my local minutes OR using my data plan.
Are there any other applications that could assist me with this?
I'm a new g1 owner and i have heard that you can call anyone through the data plan instead of using your minutes. Is this true? if so how? and what are some concerns and limitations to doing this?
View 8 Replies View Relatedi need an app that has a pc counterpart for video chat. i want top be able to get in touch with my momma via my EVO as soon as i get out of Basic Training. i have been trying every app. fring does not have a working pc app, qik does not seem to plan on this either. skype just released a app who only supports Voip phone calls no video(fail) and none of the conventional im apps are supporting video either: aim, talk, yahoo. did i miss something? is there one?

It looks like I can change the orientation in Windows Movie maker, but when I try to save it as mp4 - it says "invalid format". It has it's own format to save it in and doesn't appear to have any other options.

have not tried on 4G yet since it;s dead at home (have it at the office and couple of streets down from my house - maybe I'll take a walk tonight?)
UPDATE:
-when initiating the call from the PC it rings on the phone and I only get "call terminated" when I pick it up on the EVO
- when initiating the call from the EVO it rings once and it hangs up (does not ring on the PC and I cannot answer it)
doing a restart of the EVO right now

alright, a power off and on of the EVO did it.
Should this option be checked or unchecked?? Think i accidentally checked it but have no idea what it is Can anyone tell me what it is or tell me whether i should have it checked or not?

I can even sign in to skype. But When I try to call someone via Skype (call someone to their phone) it just kindda blocks internet connection. neither call works neither surfing the net works. But connection works on my laptop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm writing an android application that collects cell signal strengths.I am having trouble getting the "current" cell signal strength, but I don't have any problem getting the "neighboring" cell signal strengths.To get the current cell signal strength, I created a PhoneStateListener and implemented the onSignalStrengthChanged callback.It works, but not very well.It seems like the signal strength hardly ever changes, and resolution jumps to only a few numbers.I would accept the answer that the resolution of the signal strength hardware is coarse, but when I use the TelephonyManager's getNeighboringCellInfo() method, it works much better.The signal strength readings from neighboring cells change frequently, and they have much better resolution.So, how can I get the current cell signal strength in the same way that I am getting the neighboring cell strengths?It seems odd to me that the functionality of the neighboring cells is better than the current cell.

So far when I was going abroed I have talked to my girlfriend using my notebook (wifi connection and using skype video call). Using the video call I was able to see her, talk to her and the other way around. Now as I bought my first smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S) I would like to do the same thing without taking my notebook to my travels.
Is there any software which will allow me to have a video call from the phone to PC? I am asking about software which work on Android 2.1 and support front face camera on the phone, so I am able to see her (and she can see mee) while talking to her!
I do not have Froyo as in my country there isn't original update yet. And I would rather wait for the official update.
