What it is is that I have currently got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I have had it a while. But the problem was that because I came from a iPhone 3G I had all my contacts on there of which I cant retrieve. apart from GMAIL cause I cant sync it because I don't have my iPhone just the backup folder, neither icloud because I never had it at the time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy GNex took a baseball to the screen; the screen is shattered and unresponsive, but the phone will power on and I can see the file structure if I connect via USB to my PC. I've retrieved all the files and photos that I want to save from the phone by copying to the PC, but not the text messages. I had a backup for the text messages, but it's gone (different story for another time). So I've been searching for a way to retrieve these text messages that can be executed entirely from the PC side, since I have no way of installing an app on the phone. I'd either like to be able to copy the SMS database to a new phone via PC, or dump it into some sort of manageable text format.
From the searches I've done, it seems like I might be able to do this using some sort of developer's code; (i.e., Install this program, plug in the phone, enter these lines of code, etc.)
The phone is stock (not rooted), and was just recently updated to ICS 4.0.4 (?)
Samsung says they can "fix" the phone for $160+, but that they won't be able to save any of the data since the phone isn't navigable (I assume they'll just send a replacement).
I am using a Samsung Galaxy S, with a program called DejaOffice. It syncs with a PC remotely just fine. Then it syncs with the native Android database. Recently it has started "joining" two similar contacts (Mother and Daughter, same home address, different cells numbers, different first names). The Android does this by itself. A contact disappears from the Android contacts database, and I go check one of the two contacts and find that the other has been joined to it. When I edit the remaining contact there are two Phone tabs, each with the correct information in it. I understand that if I then push the menu on the phone, there should be an option to Unjoin. But nothing happens when I press that menu button. If I simply select the contact (edit is then one of the menu choices), there is a Join menu selection (which works), but not an unjoin option.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOur organisation just changed from ADSL to Fibre Optic cable, and as a result we all had reconnect our devices to the exchange server. As a result, not all my outlook contacts come down from the MS exchange server. I can see them in 'Contacts' in Outlook on my Mac, I can see them in 'Contacts' in the remote desktop, but they are not visible on my phone.
Emails sync down fine, as well as 95% of my contacts.
I have problem in my gmail contacts that when I save any I don't find it in "My contacts", I find it in "Other contacts". My phone Samsung Galaxy mini with android 2.3.6

I have lots of funny contact names because of the SKYPE nicknames. Also, some contacts are made from email handlers.
So to organize them nicely, I spent last few hours on my Gmail / Contact account, renaming, adding photos, merging etc... Except, that when I want to SYNC it. Not all of the contacts update, and some remain as they were.
I would trash them all and import new set from Gmail, but I'm worry that when I do that, it might trash my gmail contact as well
Also, is there any way to change the contact font size? I have many long names, and lots of contacts. The screen cuts most of the names off and many of the contacts share same name. I have to open the contact, to find out details in order to know who I'm looking for.
I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am a little confused on how information for contacts is organized.
I saved all my contacts info on Google, so when I added my Google account to this photo, everything downloaded and synced up. Seems okay.
Because I find the Facebook app calendar syncing feature to be less than adequate (for example, I like having higher resolution pictures display on this large screen) I downloaded a third-party Facebook contacts sync app. Works great.
Now, I have several contacts that are both Google and Facebook contacts. At least one of my Google contacts has a Google picture that that person has uploaded which is different from their Facebook picture that is syncing tocmy phone. Do I have the option to select which picture displays? I thought that selecting default information for the contact would work, but I don't seem to have that option there.
I guess another way of asking this question is how Android decides which picture to display when there are both Google profile pictures and Facebook picture synced on a phone. SCH-I535
I have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.
Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.

I have no idea why this is not integrated into Android's version of Gmail or why it is not a selectable option like Calendar, or why there isn't support on this when you do a search, so that's why I'm posting this.

My question is if I delete a contact from my phone that is also on what's app then while deleting that contact android shows this message:-"This contact contains information from multiple accounts. Information from read only accounts will be hidden in your contacts lists, not deleted". This means that contact is not being deleted but hidden somewhere in contacts lists. I want to know how can I recover those hidden contacts.

Ive just received my new Galaxy S yesterday and I must say I am pretty thrilled. However I cannot send the same text message to all of my contacts. When I go above 10 it says it cant send to more than 10 contacts.
Is this problem related to
1. Samsung ?
2. Android ?
3. Or my Mobile Carrier....which is Optus in Australia.
When I'm trying to select more than 10 contacts to sens an SMS, it says that No more 10 contacts allowed. Does any one know how to fix this? Moreover, how can I send an SMS by just select the group and it insert all the contact of that group?

As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a Motorolla SLVR L7, now I've got my Galaxy S Captivate.I was able to get my contacts from the L7 onto the sim, and the Captivate seems to be reading the sim contacts just fine.I then imported from my Sim card onto my Captivate's internal memory.I had assumed that this would allow me to sync up those contacts into my Gmail, so that I can do manual backups and have a keyboard/mouse to manage them.Except they aren't being loaded into my gmail.

I can make and receive calls faultlessly , but definately have to be able to access my contacts hands free. every time i try to re-pair it it offers an option to share contacts, but does not work once paired .Can anyone more technically savvy than myself offer any ideas / help , unless i can get this to work the phone will have to go back
