General :: S4 Will Not Turn On At All / Any Way To Retrieve Photos If No SD Card

Just yesterday my several month old galaxy S4 suddenly shut off. As this has happened several times before, I attempted to restart it but with no luck even with a new battery and being plugged into the charger. Verizon advised me that there may be an internal issue. Any way to retrieve photos from a phone with these issues, if it wont turn on and there is no SD card. Also the phone is password protected.

I'm currently working on a project to show turn by turn navigation signals on my bicycle. I'm using my arduino board to turn on the led's. My question is: is it possible to get the turn info from a android navigation app like maps or sygic so it can be read by another application?

I was hoping to retrieve some accidentally erased pics from my phone with an SD card adapter. When I opened up my phone I was surprised to see that there was NO sd card. who have that memory chip, but is there any hope for me without the card? Incidentally, Google+ backed up a few of my photos.

Can't turn on auto-backup for photos on my S4. Every time I try within the G+ app it immediately disables when I return to said page. Looked in sync settings and I see no issues. What is going on here? I just want to auto backup my photos.

I'm trying to help my gf with a phone issue with her Droid Incredible. Her screen recently stopped working, so we took it into the Verizon store and she got a warranty replacement. We still have her old phone (it must be returned within 10 days), and I was hoping I might be able to retrieve her photos from the onboard memory.
She does have an SD card, but she only installed it a few days prior to this incident, so I assume her photos were being stored to the onboard memory prior to this.
The phone appears to still be functional except for the screen... It still rings when it receives calls (but can't answer them), still beeps for text messages, etc., and when I hook it up to a computer via USB, two inaccessible disk drives appear.
The problem, as far as I can tell from reading online, is that the onboard memory can't be accessed unless you click "Disk mode" [or whatever it's called] on the phone after plugging it in, and if you don't click this option, it defaults to "Charge Only".

I'm only slightly knowledgeable in smartphone maintenance and technology, I know how to do fairly general maintenance tasks on my S4 but have difficulty when an issue comes up. Older phones used to be easy for me to handle. As phone technology advances, I find it harder and harder to keep up.
Anyway, Since the 4.3 update rolled out for Sprint customers, I've been having issues with deleted photos reappearing. Specifically, the ones stored on the SD card in folders that have a little sd card icon next to the folder icon (photos on the device delete just fine). I've searched for the issue but most of the things I read are related to a new card being installed or Picasa syncing the deleted photos. I don't have a new SD card, I've never had a Picasa account or had it on my phone, I've disabled syncing in Google, Google+, Facebook, Gmail, I've deleted Dropbox, turned off every sync option available in settings and the gallery settings, gone to apps > all > gallery and cleared data, gone to My files and tried deleting them there, installed a photo gallery app and tried deleting photos through it. None of these have worked.
I then thought I'd hook up the phone to my computer (running Windows 7) and try to delete them that way but the computer will not display any of the photos stored on the card. Only what's on the device. So irritated with this! Why can't I directly manage photos on my device through the gallery like the days of yore? WHERE is the syncing coming from??? Where did the SD card folder even come from? I didn't create it. And why the limited access to files when connected to my computer via USB? Gotta figure this out somehow. Photos and videos have somehow taken up 7GB of memory.
I don't want everything syncing and linking to everything else!! I like to keep things separate and manage each app/program/utility independently. The occasional access via, say, Facebook or something, is okay now and then but complete, automatic connectivity isn't something all of us want.

I have a Samsung S4. I recently created new folders to organize my vacation photos. 2 folders do not show up on my phone but I can see them all when I plug the usb into the PC and view them there,
Why I can't view / find them on my phone?
The rest of the folders show up, just not these two. One previously showed up on my phone and I was able to view it just fine but then I renamed it and now I can't see it anymore. I don't believe it was hidden and I even did a reboot but still these folders no longer show up. I can only access them if I plug in the usb cable to the pc and view from there.

I've got a question: Is it possible to turn the sd card reader in an android device from SDIO to SPI?
It would be great because it would be possible to read sd card whose SDIO interface is broken when the SPI Interface is still intact. It would be slow but you can get your Data back when the SPI interface is still working.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about programmatically getting the sms messages off of your phone's sim card on an android platform. I would like to write a program that allows you to save either individual messages or entire threads to the sd card, but after looking around for a bit, I have discovered that google decided to take out that api from the current android sdk. I saw in a few places that there are hidden apis for this, but no one knew what they were or how to use them.

So I put my 32gb lexar sd card into my Samsung galaxy discover and my phone said the sd card was blank and it needed to be formatted so I tried to format it but it froze my phone I had to pull the battery out then when I tried to turn it on it just gets stuck at the logo screen.

So Verizon just replaced my eris with a refurb and everything seemed to work fine. I was initially able to lo load a photo album widget, but that after doing some SD card file editing, when I tried to look at photos, the pictures no longer load. I can look at them if I access the pictures within the camera function. But if I try to look at the the android photos apps, I get a never ending 'loading SD card data'. If I try to view them through ASTRO, the htc.photo program forces closes repeatedly and I have to pull the battery. I've already moved my data from the SD card, reformatted it, re-loaded the data and that allowed me to view the pics in the camera feature, but overall this isn't working. Because it worked at first, I'm thinking it isn't the phone and it's something I did.

Does anayone have a good photo viewer other than Photo Viewer and Photo Gallery? I would like to have my photos listed in their prospective folders but the 2 I have don't do that. I switched from the Samsung Moment to the Hero and I know I had a program on the moment that did that but I evidently forgot to backup that program so now I can't remember the name and haven't found anything in the Market that does that.

I am strongly considering switching to the Samsung Captivate (I know not the right forum but this is general android questions I have). My dilemma is there are certain things I love about my iphone that I am not sure I will get on Android: 1.Can I sync photos from my mac to my android and vice versa? 2.I have heard the "ipod"/music player on the android isnt so great? 3.As I understand I get 16gb on the Captivate but then I can install another 32gb card to get more on there? Has anyone else gone from iPhone 4 to Android and how was it for you?

I just loaded a bunch of my personal photos onto my Incredible's SD card from my Nikon D300 but all the photos are fuzzy, what am I doing wrong? Could the photos be too large since the Nikon is 12mp camera? I wanted to load one as my wallpaper but it never loaded so I'm thinking perhaps I need to crop all these photos in Photoshop before loading it.I want to use the SD card to show family photos (in a slideshow mode) to friends, and studio photography work to potential clients.Also, I was using the standard photo icon to view the photos, is there something that works better?

OK new owner of an LG Ally. I want to get my photos and videos off my old sd card copied to my new, much larger sd card. I wont read in my pc unless I format it and I don't want to do that.
It's no doubt easy but it's making me crazy. System is a whole lot different than Im used to.
