The power off menu doesn't come up when I hold down the power button, because the power button is broken. where the power off menu in android system ? and I am currently using the application reboot menu to turn off the phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an original Nexus 7 running Android 4.3. I just learned about the "Take bug report" and "Power menu bug report" method to capture screen shots and logs. Unfortunately, they don't seem to work for me.
I'm logged on with my normal Google account. When I use either method, I get the "Take bug report" popup. When I tap on Report, the popup goes away and then nothing happens - no email - nothing. I've seen a couple of other reports of this happening.

The problem is when i move the .apk to system/app and fix permisson to rw-r--r-- (all using Root Explorer) then reboot but the widget doesnt appear in the widget selector. I can make new folders, but I don't get the range of options that you would normally get when hovering your cursor over the "New" option (when opening the "New" context menu) when accessing my SD card via a usb cable plugged into the phone; I'm actually able to get the context menu when accessing the SD card by sticking it straight into the computer, but when it remains in my phone (and the phone's hooked up to the computer), I don't get the context menu.
Here's what I want:
Obviously, I can just use the SD card by plugging it directly into the computer, but it's inconvenient to take off the case, remove the back, etc. I'd rather just plug a USB cable directly into the phone. Why is my phone preventing me from getting that context menu when doing so though?

I've installed several apps that are supposed to have features that I can't even find. For example, I installed "Writer". This is supposed to have text formatting features (bold, italic, font size). But, after highlighting some text, I can't find anything that triggers a "Format" menu. A long tap on selected text will bring up a Cut & Paste menu. But if there's a Format menu, I haven't found it, yet.
I'm using Writer as an example, but I've tried half a dozen apps now that are listed as having certain features. Sometimes the program menu is the little checkerboard icon next to the Honeycomb task switcher at the bottom of the screen, but on many apps this menu is empty of anything useful. Some programs have an icon on the top of the screen that triggers a menu, but on others I've tapped on everything I can find and found no extra controls.
Is there some common screen gesture that I haven't discovered yet? Are developers listing future features that don't exist yet? Did Gingerbread have some context menu feature that's missing in Honeycomb? And is there some reason developers don't bother to provide a paragraph or two explaining how to use their product?
btw - I have an Acer A100 7 inch tablet, running generic Honeycomb 3.2 and downloading apps from GooglePlay. My device doesn't have a hardware Menu button, maybe that's the problem?
Is there an app that you can set to power down and reboot your system? When I had a blackberry, it would always reboot at 3:14am (my birthday).

Press-and-release, press-and-hold for 2 seconds, press-and-hold for 5 seconds, etc. don't work the first few times and then it randomly fires up. Anyone else experiencing this?

I saw an Android tip that said "Use the power button to end a call", but it needed to be turned on in the Accessibility menu. When I got to Settings->Accessibility, it is grayed out and it says "Downloaded accessibility application is required to activate". What app do I need to download to enable this accessibility setting?

I have a menu item which when selected would call another activity class. I am using switch case to select between menu items. I tried creating an Intent to start activity using the Class name but doesn't work.

If I go to Wireless & Networks in the settings and click Wi-Fi settings, I see it shows my router there and says "not in range, remembered" initially, but as soon as that page comes up, it connects. This is great, but I have noticed that only the onCreate method gets called and not the onStart method. Does this mean the service is properly restarted or do I need to do something special in the onCreate method to make sure it is? I did have my initialisation logic in the onCreate method and my starting service logic in the onStart method but it looks like it will all have to be in the onCreate method.
