General :: How To Remove And Add Options To CM7 Power Menu

May 2, 2012

I'm looking to remove and add some options to the CM7 power menu.

I've been building CM7 from original source so which files control what's displayed in the power menu? There are just so many files it's going to take a very long time to work out which ones I need to modify.

General :: Galaxy Nexus - Changing Settings Menu Options

Jan 5, 2013

I'm running a Galaxy Nexus, and the ROM I'm currently on has a performance option in the Settings Menu, which gives control of the kernel and stuff. However, I'd rather use TricksterMod, and I would like to be able to launch TricksterMod from Settings instead of the Performance app.

So far, I've decompiled my Settings.apk, and looked through the files, and I'm not sure what to change.

I have to change settings esxmlsettings_headers.xml, correct? Specifically,

Code:
header android:icon="@drawable/ic_settings_performance" android:id="@id/performance_settings" android:title="@string/performance_settings_title" android:fragment="com.android.settings.performance.PerformanceSettings" />

I would also have to change settings esvaluesstrings.xml, specifically, the string referenced by "@string/performance_settings_title" so that I can have the correct name, correct?

And similarly, settings esdrawable, for the icon.

The big question is, what do I replace with for "com.android.settings.performance.PerformanceSetti ngs"? Do I need to move TricksterMod somewhere specific, or what would I reference? dataappcom.bigeyes0x0.trickstermod-1.apk?

After making all these changes, I'd simply recompile and push the Settings.apk back without signing, correct? Have I missed any steps?

General :: Power Menu Bug Report Function Not Working

Aug 10, 2013

I have an original Nexus 7 running Android 4.3. I just learned about the "Take bug report" and "Power menu bug report" method to capture screen shots and logs. Unfortunately, they don't seem to work for me.

I'm logged on with my normal Google account. When I use either method, I get the "Take bug report" popup. When I tap on Report, the popup goes away and then nothing happens - no email - nothing. I've seen a couple of other reports of this happening.

Android :: Android - Keeping Options Menu Open After User Clicks On Menu Item

Nov 19, 2010

I have an Options menu up and running in my Android application and I've overridden the onCreateOptionsMenu, onOptionsItemSelected and onPrepareOptionsMenu methods to customize the menu a little. My question is related to keeping the Options menu open after the user clicks on a menu item. Basically, I'd like to be able to hide the menu until the user clicks on the device menu key. Once the user clicks on this key, I'd like to be able to hold the menu in place regardless of how many times the user clicks on menu items. If the user wants to hide the Options menu, they'd just need to click on the device menu key again. Is this type of interaction supported (or even advisable).

General :: Remove Unwanted Space From Power Toggles

Dec 30, 2012

I am currently running ICS 4.0.4 on my motorola razr and I downloaded the app "power toggles" from google play [URL] ....

The one thing that annoys me the most is that I made the notification icon transparent but the problem is that there is a huge space left when for example receiving messages or downloading apps. I am wondering, is there a way to remove that annoying space? I know in JB there is a option for removing notifications as default but I am currently running ICS...

I read about some other people having the same problem here -> [URL] .....

General :: Remove Menu Padding / Spacing In ICS?

Jul 20, 2013

I just moved to ICS, and I'm doing some modding in it.

There's one thing I don't like and that is the spacing/padding on the left and right side in some (most) menus.

how to remove this?

Let me illustrate with a mockup:

The left is how it is, and the right is how I'd like it.

It is ofcourse also very noticeable in the Settings menu:

Motorola Droid :: Expand Power Buttons Phone Options Possible?

Nov 5, 2010

I wonder if there is a way to expand the power buttons "phone options" with things like 'reboot' for example. Yes, I know some themes have this ability, but I am looking just to expand the power button offerings and wonder if there is a root option or file edit or something can do so. Not interested in installing a theme just for this, they are not my gig, so I will pass on that as an option - so if the answer is no then, no worries.

Android :: Set Options Menu Up - Only 2 Buttons Per Row?

Aug 4, 2010

I was trying to set up my options menu so that there would be 2 buttons on the 1st and 2nd row and then 1 button on the 3rd row. Here is the code I was trying to use but I'm guessing groupID argument isn't what I thought it was.

menu.add(1, MENU_NAME, 1, "by Name");
menu.add(1, MENU_NUMBER, 2, "by Number");
menu.add(2, MENU_POSITION, 1, "by Position");
menu.add(2, MENU_COLLEGE, 2, "by College");
menu.add(3, MENU_UPDATE, 1, "Update Roster");

Maybe this is solved somehow with the XML Layout but I'm not really good with the layouts ;( So I managed to not get too far that way either.

Android :: Options Menu With SurfaceView And ListView

Jul 7, 2010

In my application, I have extended SurfaceView and ListView. I create a LinearLayout as below

mainForm = new LinearLayout(this); mainForm.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL); mainForm.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams( LinearLayout.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LinearLayout.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT));

I then add the SurfaceView and ListView to the mainForm and then setContentView(mainForm);

I also override onPrepareOptionsMenu and call menu.clear() and then dynamically create menus each time the menu button is pressed by the user. The application loads fine and the SurfaceView works fine as I directly draw images to it in a sleep loop. The ListView displays items and is desined to refreshed with new items. The options menu also displays once as well................................
