I looked for a plain black wallpaper for the X in the menu system. Doesn't seem to exist.
Resorted to taking a photo with the lens completely covered. And then chose that for my background. Is there a better way?

Are any of you having trouble with this? The sensor doesn't seem to be working the way it should. I have a problem accessing the keyboard during calls to automated services and sometimes the screen won't stay lit long enough for me to end my calls.
Aside from that, my Droid keeps freezing up today. I haven't had any trouble with that before. I've got a week to go before I pass my 30 day trial. I'm not sure what to do. This phone has to be mailed in as I got it online. If there's a way to fix these problems, I'd rather not send it in and wait 3 weeks to receive a new one.
If not, please consider this a formal request. I understand it will take away the sliding keyboard functionality, but I still want one. Honestly, I just like the idea of a slip over silicone case, as opposed to a snap on case. Any help where I can at least find a basic black slip over silicone case for the droid?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I was going to update to Froyo manually when I noticed that my 'check for system updates' is disabled in the about phone menu. I can only think of two reasons:
1. I'm rooted (doesn't seem likely)
2. I'm roaming but still on 3g (This would be annoying as I have to drive 20 miles to verizon towers)Any ideas? On a separate note maybe this is an advantage.I'm new to the Android platform and have heard of issues upgrading to 2.2. Maybe I should just wait until Moto puts out the patch?

I love flikie wallpaper hd app but for some strange reason it fails to load an image sometimes and I just have a blank black screen that stays until I manually change it. I have 400+ wallpapers that I have set to change every 30 min and no I don't have a solid black wallpaper. Anyone else have this problem? Have a solution?

Can someoen clarify for me ha and also when I'm searching for wallpapers do I want pixel resolution or screen size for best look.
Some custom ROMs have different ringtones. I have a "Ringtones" folder on my SD with my own, but the ROMs carry theirs internally and once you change ROMs, so do the ringtones. I haven't looked yet, but would they possibly be in the ROM zip file and could I just pull them out of the zip to my computer? I guess I will look now, but let me know if this is the right way or if something else works better. Ultimately I would like to pull off all system ringtones so I can condense to my own and ones I have selected. It's overwhelming sometimes given that I don't and won't ever use 70% of the stock tones.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Chinese Mediatek 'pbablet' phone/tablet combination; running Android 4.2.2 Model: MTK6572. Due to it being cheap, it was ideal so I thought, for flashing and development, however I maybe wrong.
However I cannot get it into recovery mode. It won't display the menu when holding down volume + and the power button when powering on.
When pressing these two buttons together on start-up, it actually remains a black screen, and it won't turn on after doing this, and I have to keep pressing the tiny reset button on the side of this device every time I attempt to enter recovery, to get it to turn on as normal again.
Pressing and holding volume - and power at the same time on start-up brings up "Factory mode" (in Chinese) and has no options available for flashing/ROM/ functions, except 'testing' the devices' hardware. This phone doesn't have any other physical buttons except power, volume + and -
I am able to successfully enter CWR by flashing it with MTKDroidTools and rebooting into the recovery mode (while powered up and in the android OS) however I still cannot get into CWR or any recovery mode at all while powering up with power and volume +
I just want to be able to enter a recovery mode on this device, to ensure no future issues and doubts upon the unfortunate events of a permanent brick. My idea is to flash this phablet with ParanoidAndroid; or cyanogenmod, and I could try doing this with a software reset, but then what if the ROM is incompatible, and totally bricks it? Then I have no way in hell to revive and reflash, because I can't access the recovery mode anyway.
I have came to the conclusion that it maybe due to the filesystem, potentially due to it's fbifs, that is the cause to no recovery mode, but what if it's ext4, does any of this make a difference.
Is there any way to make this device open the recovery menu while powering it on?
When I attempt to enter recovery mode while powering up with volume +, the device is basically a brick, until I press reset. It doesn't respond at all. The only way to enter recovery menu is by booting into android resetting the device into recovery mode via an app.

I followed the instructions and examples on Android website to create a context menu but mine shows up completely black and i cannot change any options in it ; anyone out there had the same experience and can help me solve this issue.
FWIW, here are my class .java and the menu .xml files code...
i have a huawei G510, android 4.1.1 with root, i updated google maps and with titanium i integrated to system, and now only get a black screen on load, no maps. but i move the apk to data/app it work good, in system/app give me the black screen problem.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter a hard reset on my first Hero, the factory/system wallpaper files disappeared. Thereafter, I was unable to set the background for the lock screen to anything but the default. When I go to set lock screen background, the device reports "no media found".
Now that I have another Hero, I would like to backup those 22 factory background/wallpaper files.
1) Is that possible? If so, how? Does it require me to root the device so I can actually "copy out" the files?
2) Does there exist a backup software that can do a full system file backup? If so, please recommend one.
3) I have seen several file manager-like applications. Do any of these applications browse system files and allow one to copy them? (Is rooting reqired)?
4) Does anyone have copies of the system/default wallpapers? If so, will you please zip them up and post it here?
5) WHY did the pictures disappear after a hard reset? If they are part of the ROM, why did they not return after a reset?
The power off menu doesn't come up when I hold down the power button, because the power button is broken. where the power off menu in android system ? and I am currently using the application reboot menu to turn off the phone.
