This is my second Nexus. I just purchased a new charge cord because I needed to turn off my nexus to charge properly, and I hated that. But this new cord only did me good for a bit. Now, the nexus refuses to charge, unless you put the cord a certain way, and if you even touch it while charging, it stops charging.Edit-now its not charging no matter what I do

how the Nexus Tablet 7 charges? Not through the USB port, right?
I have a Transformer right now w/ the dock & 2 full sized usb ports on it. But I have been waiting for the Nexus Tab for months, because of the screen, processor, and price. however since it does not have a microSD, I would definitely need to be able to plug in my 500GB usb hdd into it. I would need a OTG cable, right? And it does not use the MicroUSB port to charge, right? Otherwise how could you use the usb and charge it at the same time?
My Nexus 7's (2013) battery was low so I decided to charge it. I plugged it in to a AC adapter and it showed that it was charging. The tablet's battery was decreasing! I decided to turn it off and charge it. I've been trying to fix the tablet for a while. It showed empty battery icon, LED light above the usb port was flickering 5 times. Then it showed no more sign of life. I've tried many things including holding power button for 1 minute, tried different chargers, plugged in a different outlet, used original charger. The tablet is still under warranty but I don't want to go through all the trouble to get a new one. My tablet is not rooted.

So, I have 3 batteries for my phone. 1 stock (1750mAh) and 2 extended (2000mAh). No I don't need all that juice... its a story for another time. Anyway....
Lately when I charge a battery in the external charger (using a USB cable and the wall plug supplied with the phone) the battery will not fully charge. The LED on the charger will change from red to green (Usually I charge the battery overnight, or while I'm away at work during the day). However when I put the battery in the phone, it will show somewhere between 80%-90% charged.
1) Would a 100% drain and charge reset the battery's "fuel gauge"?
2) My phone automatically powers off at 6% (which is fine, needs enough juice to save current settings and power down properly). Is there a way to truely drain the battery down to 0%? (I'm thinking of some kind of low-voltage lightbulb or LED connected to the positive and negative terminals should drain that down to 0%. Is this recommeneded or is it fine just running it down till the phone powers off?
Normally I try to plug my phone in and charge (or power off and swap batteries) once they hit about 40%-60%. I'm only interested in doing a full drain to see if that will get these batteries to fully charge in the desktop charger. Besides I've read from a few sources that it is GOOD for the battery to do this once in a while (Fully drain, charge to100%) to properly maintain them.
And as a side note, charging the battery in the phone (either with the wall plug or from USB cable on my computer) will always result in a 100% charge, which makes me thing the issue is with the desktop unit itself (perhaps faulty circuit that cuts off charge current when it thinks its full ?)
I turn off my 4G/LTE on my Galaxy Nexus to save battery but when charging or plugged in, I would like to take advantage of the faster speeds. Is there a way to automatically turn on/off 4G/LTE in relation to the charging status? 3G on battery, 4G when plugged in.

Yesterday I've upgraded my Alcatel OT-997, ICS 4.0.4. with Kuano's TWRP and now it's:

The problem is the damn thing doesn't charge when it's turned on. It shows the lightning bolt over the battery icon, but in settings shows that charger is not connected. However, when it's turned off it charges, normally. I tried different settings in USB menu: Mass storage, MTP, Camera mode and Charge. Tried with and without Debugging mode. All of those work when connected to a computer in the sense that I can use internal storage, access both SD cards, and so on. But it doesn't charge.
I have tried 3 different cables, 3 wall outlets, and 2 PCs so it's not that. I suppose it's not a hardware problem otherwise it wouldn't charge properly when it's turned off.
So now I use schedule to turn it off before I go to sleep, and to turn on before I wake up, so it would charge while I'm sleeping.
I've noticed my Gnex's battery loosing its s#!t and draining rather quickly than before. I mostly charge it by plugging it into my laptop via the usb cable and very few times via wall socket. I was wondering does slow charging via "usb on laptop" damages/degrades battery life? Google search didn't throw any relevant info.

Im using the battery circle app to monitor my battery %. I have "calibrated" the battery by using the phone until it shuts it self off then charging it to 100% while its off then unplug it and turn it on and then plugging it back in.
Usually i will get between 15-19+ hours on normal use if i unplug it and plug it back up when it drops suddenly to 9-% in the mornings but if i dont ill get somewhere around 13 hours of life. is there something wrong with the phone, battery or charger?
I have a Point of view tablet (Jelly Bean 4.1) and when I shut it down it always turns it self on if it's charging.

N9500 . It is recognized by the PC ONLY if i deselect DEBUG USB and re-select again. It will never charge. If i connect to pc when turned off, it will get stuck in the first image (the one with Battery and Lightning, but won't go through the second image (animation of battery "filled up" and battery percentage) At beginning i thought about an hardware problem, but these 2 strange behaviours give me the idea of something software inside the phone that's not working in the right way.

I have problem that the phone charges very slow like ~12% per hour with both the PC USB cable and the original wall charger.
I know that the phone supposed to charge very slow in USB mode however I've noticed that even when charging trough the wall charger the phone still charges in USB mode. (I can see it in the phone status menu)
My question is: Is there there really another charging mode (shown in phone status) when charging trough the wall charger?
I did factory reset and wiped data but the problem still exists.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC desire S S-OFF rooted 3 days back. I flashed it with Endymion Rom 2.2 2 days back. I was charging my battery and when i saw it after a while it was at 50 degrees C and it was discharging though connected. after unplugging temperature reduced.
I calibrated my battery last night by fully charging it, the charged it again at off state the again when its on then wiped battery stats and charged again. the voltage is a little over 4.2V.
Now i had put it for charge and when i saw it was 85% charged and Temp was 40 degrees C and phone was idle all this while . at 85% it was 4220mV. i was using it while charging and temperature dropped to 38 and voltage reduced till 4214mV and again incresed to 4219mV by the time it was 87% charged. is it heating more when its idle? What is the solution? Is this normal?
Is there an app/mod (or a tasker profile) out there which can be used to simulate a USB connection (for charging) without physical connection with a USB cable? I am on 4.1.2.

Like for iPad, they get extra operating current 1600mA, so with the original 500mA the iPad is charging by 2.1A, right from the USB port. Even Blackberry Z10 gets the same treatment!
Can we do a OSX-side kext mod for Android to specify the extra operating current, such that Android charge faster on Mac? As most devices can take at least 1A nowadays.
Are Android Composite loaded by /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOUSBCompositeDriver.kext ? How can I locate and modify the field for extra operating current?
I hope to build the kext mod and, in the future, to build a small utility app for users to specify the extra operating current for Android.
