General :: Mapping Touchscreen To Physical Keys?

Feb 9, 2012

Any way to take games with virtual controllers (D-Pad and buttons) and map them to physical keys?" Either on a built-in keyboard like the Droid 4, or the Xperia Play's keys, or even mapping them to a third party device such as a bluetooth keyboard or Wiimote/PS3 controller.

So what I was wondering, is if there already is an app out there that can take a point on the touchscreen, and assign it to a keypress on a physical device?

Motorola Droid :: Make The Keys Bigger On The Touchscreen?

Nov 12, 2009

I have had the Droid for a week now...I m droid number 2 the first one the touch screen would not work. I am coming from a Blackberry curve. The droid Im finding is hard to text on. I have to text one handed (don't ask why..) so the phyical keypad does me no good. Is there a way to make the keys bigger on the touchscreen? I did 2300+ texts last month so I really need it to be easier to hit the keys. Also i find the words I've already texted are very small compared to the BB curve anyone have any thoughts on that. This may be too much phone for me..i love the apps amd how superfast it it. but the texting is a issue.

Motorola Droid :: Ghost Writer Touchscreen - Lost Control Of The Touchscreen

Mar 18, 2010

I wonder if ne one had an major issue with their touch screen before like I had with mine. So I decided to post this little story. Let me start off with a little background info. I got my droid november 6, 5 46am central time zone. don't ask me how but the vzw dude was letting me earlier cuz I had work. I was so happy that day leaving t mobile I did love my g1 but wen I read all about the droid I felt likt I had to leave her and move on. She did do a lot for me but time tells all and it was my time go and move on.Untill two months ago (Present time I'm talking in) I realized not everyone has the bubbly keyboard. I saw friends at my unit (I'm in the army reserves) that bought the droid a couple of months after me had flat keyboards n they were bitching bout how flat it was. I agreed with them since I was woth a g1 the keyboard was a bit flat but nothing to were its such a pain, so my friend shows me his keyboard and I looked shocked played with it was like wow and I pulled my n did a side by side side comprasion and this before I saw the bubbley keyboard thread on here. So unforunately my toucscreen starting doin its own thing like it was ghost writer and spazzing out. I had no control over it this happened monday nite and I was dreading it that I will end up replacing it. But it would not let me do nothing.I couldn't go ne where on my screen it would randomly hit different icons to the point were sum times it would call my contacts. I only had control over the physical buttons. So on Tuesday during work I fought the ghost writer to let get to setting a do a system restore. First minute of the set up was ok but right wen it finish and I was on the home screen again. I was like FUDGE I don't want to replace my rare Droid. After work I replaced it, I was real pissed I had the bubbly keyboard and (something I didn't noticed untill I got my replacement) the golden plated volume side button. I miss my precious rare droid. I was soo proud to be first non employee to have the droid in houston.

General :: Mapping Keycodes To Execute Commands

Apr 5, 2012

What I want to do is be able to map arbitrary keycodes to execute custom commands. I purchased a Bluetooth numeric keypad, and with CM7, I am able to sync it and generate key events. However, they're not mapped to anything, so it's pretty useless. My hope in buying this product was the ability to map the keys to input events and be able to control my phone (Maps, IME, etc) while my phone is docked in my car so I'm not doing the "distracted driving" thing. So, is there a way I could code an app/service that would capture key/scancodes and execute user-defined commands (such as screen events)? Further, could this service change its behavior when the IME is active, allowing me to map the keys to the on-screen keyboard? I use a T9 app, and if the program could map to screen events when the IME is active allowing me to type T9 on a physical keyboard, that would be amazing.

I have recovery installed but only way i can use it is through novotools but need touch screen.

So i need a way to flash firmware through sdcard on boot (Can be done, can't find guide though)

Or a script that will run reboot-recovery.sh on boot from sd or maybe emmc

Or that will run when the sd is mounted so that if i insert an sd card into the device with reboot-recovery.sh script on it it will reboot to recovery

General :: Physical Keyboard Toggle ON / OFF

Jul 26, 2013

In Jelly Bean when using a bluetooth or usb keyboard (certain mice and scanners also) force the on screen keyboard off.

Then anyone can choose to turn off the physical keyboard (or whatever device) by going into the input method option (also known as Input and Language) in settings and selecting the OFF option and upon doing so the keyboard (or whatever device) still works and now the on screen keyboard works also. (very simple)

The option to turn ON or OFF the physical keyboard is not present in the input method selector screen unless a physical device is attached via usb or bluetooth.

How can one do this from a terminal window or using a shell command.

I would like to automate this silly feature via Tasker or Locale but can not do so until I know the console command.

I know how to switch IME devices from the command shell or with the Secure Settings plugin but when a physical device is connected it does not show using the shell command IME LIST. Only virtual keyboards are listed, not physical devices.

General :: DROID 4 - Physical Keyboard Quirk With ICS

Aug 21, 2012

I have ICS on the DROID 4. Everything I use is stock, not rooted, all that jazz.

In the physical keyboard settings you can turn on these three options: Auto-replace, auto-capitalization, and insert a period after double-spacing with the space bar key.

If all three are turned on, they all work, as you would expect. However, if ONLY the double-space/period one is turned on -- which is what I desire -- then it does NOT work.

What is causing this glitch and how can I fix it?

General :: Nexus 4 CPU Logical And Physical Cores

I know that the nexus 4 has a quad core CPU by qualcomm, the snapdragon s4 pro. I searched everywhere on the web to find out what kind of CPU specs it has in terms of physical and logical cores. I'm guessing it has 2 physical cores (cpu0, cpu1) and 2 logical cores (cpu2, cpu3) but I'm not sure. I've successfully shutdown CPU 2 and 3 via terminal emulator. But the command won't work on core 0 and 1.

So are cpu0 and 1 physical or logical cores if so, How do I turn one of them offline.

General :: Touchscreen Fail After Custom ROM?

Oct 3, 2013

I wanted to root my new galaxy victory 4G LTE from Sprint and put a custom rom on it. Followed rooting guides and that worked fine. Then I went to find a rom that would work and all I found was victorious, which I was so eager to try I didn't even think to read that part that said VM only. Got stuck in a boot loop. That's where I made the real mistake and decided to try a rom for another galaxy model, a custom s3 rom. Ever since that my touchscreen has been unresponsive, soft buttons and hard buttons work though. Using ODIN I've tried to restore to stock, I've used KIES to try to update, and everything has worked as far as I could want it to, but nothing restored touchscreen functionality. I am able to get into the hard button guided recovery menu and download mode, but have been unable to get anything touch based to work, and cannot find a CM non touch recovery that will work with this phone.
