I'd like to remap some of the keys on the PHYSICAL keyboard. For example, I've never inserted a smiley in a message and don't intend to start now, so remaping the dedicated smiley key to something useful would be productive.

I reecntly bought a Rapoo BT keyb (E6300), it is optimized for the Apple products therefore some keys do not behave as i wish with my Nexus S.
I'd like to find out how (as per title) remap the keys or at least find out Vendor and Product ID...
so, using this command from the terminal: cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I discovered that my KB has Vendor=099a Product=0500.
Now I'm gonna build a custom Keyboard layout, should i create a keyCharacterMap as well?
well, after some more digging, i think i won't need to make a KCM. Still i can't find a way to let my Keyb to use my keyboardlayout. According to catalog it still uses the generic.kl even if in the right directory a file with the keyboard name exists...
They function key has a few weird stains on it that look like dirt or coffee stains. Those were there when I first got the phone. Is there any method to clean it without messing up the phone? If it involves buying some sort of cleaning solution, please suggest something I will use for other purposes other than this one issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter successfully rooting my phone, after my reboot i noticed that the bottom row of touch sensitive keys and the physical keyboard do not light up when touch or slid open. to fix this i have to go to the brightness setting and uncheck and check automatic brightness again?

The keys work fine, but certain ones make a clicky or crackly sound (typically after not been used for a moment, then they're fine after being pushed). There is also a strange feeling to them to go along with the sound.

Looking to remap my home key, and my menu and back soft keys on my s3. I've looked at editing scripts, and even Xposed modules for this and here is what I found.
I can remap my keys manually, but I cannot map them to open an application.
With Gravity Box Module, I can map the applications to launch on a double press or a long press.
Here is what I want to do with a single tap.
[MENU SOFT KEY] [HOME KEY] [BACK SOFT KEY]
Open Phone Open search Open Camera
Is there an xposed module for this?

So far I like most of what I see, with two caveats: The lack of camera flash (I've not had one before, but with a 5 MP camera it seems a waste to not have one) and the lack of a physical keyboard.
I've yet to meet an on-screen keyboard I liked, but I've not tried a 4" screen before. Any first impressions, especially from people used to physical keyboards? Good, bad, ugly? Honestly that's the main thing I'm worried about.
Are there any existing or forthcoming handsets without physical buttons for Home/Menu/Back/Search? I know these are required for the Android interface, but are there virtual keys on any handsets? It's a small gripe, but on my Legend I am not loving the keys after operating the touch screen!

This is typically not too noticeable, but sometimes it takes up to 5 seconds. Is there a way to make it so that opening the keyboard just resumes this phone already in landscape? And yes, I've seen the "No lock" thread, but I still want the phone to be somewhat difficult to accidentally unlock. What would be perfect would be a double click of one of the other buttons to waken and unlock the phone. Is this possible? Maybe it's a root thing?

Sometimes at sporadic times (not every time)when I type a random letter or character I have to press a button two times to replicate the character or space and I'm a fast keyboard typer and its been bothering me lately and I'm wondering if anyone else has those issues? I already have went to sprint and had them exchanged the phone and the new phone still to no avail does the same thing. I thought it was Advanced task killer that may have caused my phone to be acting weird but I hard reset the phone and still no avail. Maybe its just a bad keyboard? both times? the phone is an august build and battery is also an august build. I'm at work right now and plan to hit the sprint repair store near home. I just want to know if anyone else has this issue? So I dont want to look like an idiot to the tech.

My Moment does that and it's annoying as I end up pocket dialing people or opening up programs because the keyboard slide on it gets jarred and unlocks the screen.This will be a deal breaker for me between the Epic 4G and EVO.
