Android :: Device Orientation / Mapping Device Y To Screen Y

Oct 30, 2009

How do I map the device Y axis to the screen Y axis?I can't figure this out.I'm the developer of Tricorder, and I'm trying to make it so that the accelerometer and magnetometer indicators I draw always point in the right direction. On the G1 phone with the slider closed, all is well. But when I open the slider, I end up showing that gravity is pulling me to the left (if the phone is held with the display vertical). So, I know that the device, and hence sensor, Y axis is always in the direction of the earpiece; and the screen Y axis changes when I open the slider. And I know that I can use remapCoordinateSystem() to change the device axes to match the screen axes. But where do I find out what the device's orientation is?In other words, how do I compute the correct values for the X and Y parameters to remapCoordinateSystem()?

Configuration.orientation seems quite useless.Suppose it is set to LANDSCAPE.What does this mean?Does it mean a device which is "naturally" portrait (i.e. the sensor Y axis points to the narrow end), and which has been turned into landscape mode?If so, which way was it turned?Or does it mean a device which is naturally landscape? In other words, LANDSCAPE could mean that the screen axis is off from the sensor axis by +90, 0, OR -90 degrees. Not much help.So how do I do this?Obviously I want my app to work on all devices, not just the G1 phone.

General :: Phone Not Mount SD Card But Mount In Recovery Mode

Apr 1, 2013

When the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.

When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.

I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.

The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).

HBoot: 6.93.1002
S-Off ( Revolutionary)
Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)

I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.

Motorola Droid X :: Deodex Problem - Mount - Device Or Resource Busy

Oct 17, 2010

Droid X - 2.2 - Rooted

Attempting to deodex, followed the instructions exactly on this thread ([HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.) but on my last step when entering "mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system" I get the following response from cmd prompt, "mount: Device or resource busy"

The OP said I should try placing the phone in Charge Only mode or whatever it's called, as opposed to USB Mass Storage, just tried that and again, same message.

If no ideas how to fix this, does anyone at least know what to do so that when I reboot I won't have to do a Nandroid restore? It's getting really annoying going on the 3rd or 4th time.

Android :: Use Vold(New Volume Manager Daemon) To Automatically Mount Sdcard When Device Startup

Mar 29, 2009

I am porting android to my own device now. I checkout the latest source code from android.git.kernel.org. I have successfully compilated filesystem images and burn those images to my devices. But i couldn't automatically mount my sdcard when android startup. The / sdcard directory is empty when i used 'ls /sdcard' command. I have copied the vold.conf file from development/data/etc direcotry to my device(/system/etc), but it's invalidated. When i read the source code(vold), i found the vold daemon relate to switch driver, device mapper driver and android gadget driver. Are there some document or information about how to configurate android kernel to support vold new volume management and wirte right vold.conf configuration file?

Android :: How To Check Code On Emulator / Device?

Is there a way to check if our code is running in the emulator vs a real device? I'm using a Map View which requires a signing key. I'm using the signature of the eclipse debug key when running on the emulator, but this won't work when I build a release version. I think I need to have a check to see if I'm running on a real device, and set it to the real release key at that time.

General :: Mapping Keycodes To Execute Commands

Apr 5, 2012

What I want to do is be able to map arbitrary keycodes to execute custom commands. I purchased a Bluetooth numeric keypad, and with CM7, I am able to sync it and generate key events. However, they're not mapped to anything, so it's pretty useless. My hope in buying this product was the ability to map the keys to input events and be able to control my phone (Maps, IME, etc) while my phone is docked in my car so I'm not doing the "distracted driving" thing. So, is there a way I could code an app/service that would capture key/scancodes and execute user-defined commands (such as screen events)? Further, could this service change its behavior when the IME is active, allowing me to map the keys to the on-screen keyboard? I use a T9 app, and if the program could map to screen events when the IME is active allowing me to type T9 on a physical keyboard, that would be amazing.

Any way to take games with virtual controllers (D-Pad and buttons) and map them to physical keys?" Either on a built-in keyboard like the Droid 4, or the Xperia Play's keys, or even mapping them to a third party device such as a bluetooth keyboard or Wiimote/PS3 controller.

So what I was wondering, is if there already is an app out there that can take a point on the touchscreen, and assign it to a keypress on a physical device?
