General :: Connect To Shared Network Folder And Save Changes?
Jul 3, 2013A Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is connect to a shared network drive located on the network it's connected to (eg \sharefoldersharesofficeshares) I open a file from the shared folder, like a word or excel document, and make some changes. Here comes the challenge: When I save the file, it does not save back to the shared folder but only locally on the tablet. That means that if I go to a computer on the same network, connected to the folder and open the file I just edited on the tablet; No changes has been made
The problem is that I have yet to find a android word/excel processor that has the option to save on a network drive.
The only solution without an app with the option stated above is to somehow syncronize the android folder where the edited file is saved. Unfortunately that requires some actions that I would not like to teach the non-IT personal who uses the tablet.

Trying to access shared folders on my home network (3 computers running XP) via the Media Share.
Set up the files for sharing on the computers.
On my Droid clicked on "Media Share" -> "Start" -> "Computer" -> "Copy" -> "Windows File Sharing" -> "Next" -> Shared 3 folders on my computer. -> "Next" -> Verified my home network was availabe, clicked "Next" -> clicked "Next" -> "Shared Folders" -> "Add Server" -> "Scan for Servers" ->
At this point it finds the IP address of the laptop Im working on. using DHCP. But when I click on it, it keeps asking for a user name and password. dont have one for XP and no password on the files.

Apr 5, 2012What I want to do is be able to map arbitrary keycodes to execute custom commands. I purchased a Bluetooth numeric keypad, and with CM7, I am able to sync it and generate key events. However, they're not mapped to anything, so it's pretty useless. My hope in buying this product was the ability to map the keys to input events and be able to control my phone (Maps, IME, etc) while my phone is docked in my car so I'm not doing the "distracted driving" thing. So, is there a way I could code an app/service that would capture key/scancodes and execute user-defined commands (such as screen events)? Further, could this service change its behavior when the IME is active, allowing me to map the keys to the on-screen keyboard? I use a T9 app, and if the program could map to screen events when the IME is active allowing me to type T9 on a physical keyboard, that would be amazing.

General :: Pictures Shared In Landscape By Default
Mar 22, 2012Every time I share a picture via twitter, g+, Facebook, or mms, or even upload it to a message board, the orientation defaults to landscape regardless if its taken in portrait mode. This is pretty annoying. It also happens when I try to edit my avatar using the xda app.
How can I fix this so that a picture is uploaded in the orientation that the picture is taken in?
General :: Can't Get To Connect To Samba Shared Disk
Jul 17, 2013I cant connect nor find my samba network drive from Android whatsover... I have tried using different apps (ES File Explorer, AndroXplorer and AndSMB), but none of them are able to connect nor to find my shared folders....
On the android client side, I am using anonymous login and I have tried using both the ip address of the samba server in the hostname field and the hostname itself. I also tried with the domain set or empty. I have a Galaxy Nexus with Android 4.2.1
On the server side, I have the following configuration ( add V0BRW3vK to pastebin address -> I cant post links) and I can access it through windows, ubuntu and even through my playstation =D But not with my android device... Therefore, I dont think it is a server issue (unless if Android connects in a different way).
It is also perhaps worth mentioning that my samba server has a static IP and it is not on the DHCP list of the router. However, Im not sure if this should influence something as I'm even trying to access it directly through its IP.
Is there something I need to do in the android device beforehand in order to connect to the network drive? Any hints of what could be going wrong? Most of the issues, I read about it seem to handled in my config and have been discarded due to the fact that I can connect to the shared folder with other devices. The only other thing that comes to my mind now is to either find an open source application that connects to a samba shared folder and run it with logging.

We also shared our calendars with each other and can view them online. However, we cannot see each other's calendar on the GS3. Is there a setting or something that we are missing?

Mar 6, 2012I've been searching for an app or a way to be able to access the shared folders of my desktop PC in my android mobile (Huawei U8650 not rooted) and my tablet (Acer A100 also not rooted).
I want to be able to watch my movies in the shared folders or read my ebooks like I do from my laptop.The PC is connected with a wifi rooter as all the rest devices. Since the laptops can access the shared files, I guess my android devices should also be able to do it... but how...?

Now on my home computer I have a shared folder with all our digital photos. what I want to do is access these photos on the Note and view them as a slideshow. A second computer (with Picasa) can access these pictures over the home network and run a slideshow. I want something similar on the Note - is this possible? I know i can access network drives with, for example, ES File Explorer, but how can I view the photos in a folder (and subfolders) as a slideshow?

May 16, 2012I have an Exchange account with my school that I sync my email and contacts to my android phone with no problems. However, the school made a shared calendar for our class schedules that I added to my Exchange account (by adding the URL), but this calendar will not sync to my phone. If I create my own events in my personal calendar, that works fine and shows up, but the calendar that I added from the school will not. It shows up just fine on Outlook on the PC.
My current solution is to just add that calendar to my google account and sync it, but the problem with that is that our class schedules can sometimes change suddenly and gmail doesn't sync very often, which has led to some problems for me in the past. I would much rather have the direct syncing of the calendar to my phone instead of through google.
What makes it more aggravating is that my friend has no problem syncing the calendar with iOS, so I know it should be possible. I've tried using Touchdown but that has the same problem.Here is an image from the Outlook Web app showing both calendars

I have a chinese phone without CWM recovery, so I can't flash anything, but I do have root. How to install Google play services in any way!

Jun 24, 2010I'm trying to get the lat/long values, from the corners of the screen. But my getProjections don't make any sense.. I mean ... mymap.getProjection().fromPixels(0, 0) or mymap.getProjection().fromPixels(screenWidth, screenHeight) just delivers me unreal numbers..
I'm trying to set up an algorythm that would avoid cluster of graphics in the map and for that, the app needs to know which area of the screen is being showed latitude/longitude wise.

Aug 26, 2009I have a love-hate relationship with my G1, with the inability to remap keys at the top of the list. I've looked high and low for information, going so far as to try to decipher pages like this:http://www.kandroid.org /android_pdk/keymaps_keyboard_input.html and even reading the android platform code on github. I don't see things like page_up and page_down defined in the android keymappings. And I suspect that the original scancodes are being assigned to touch gestures.Since the number keys don't have a third component could an enterprising developer map to the unused caps for missing keys? Not that it would be all that useful at this point but it would give someone a hook to build on. Or if that isn't possible, how about a virtual floating task bar kind of thing (maybe mostly transparent overlay?) that maps gestures like the swipe up/swipe down and more traditional arrows and enter type keys for the trackball? This isn't entirely a nit-picky kind of request. I have a medical condition that in the winter makes my fingertips extremely painful and the trackball hurts. I'm guessing that there weren't many arthritis sufferers on the Android development team, either. You would think that the touch screen should make things easier, not harder. Even my old, old Omnigo and HP100LX had utilities to remap keys, so it seems odd that there isn't some kind of app that could be developed. I think if I had enough time (which I don't) I might be able to eventually puzzle out a crude version of the task bar thing but I'd much rather pay a couple of dollars in the market.

But it depends too much on geometry and thus not very flexible. Then I found a much easier way to do shadowing here: http://www.paulsprojects.net/tutorials/smt/smt.html But it uses ARB_depth_texture and ARB_shadow extension. So I bet it can't be used with Android's OpenGL ES 1.0. I've tried googling for "Shadow Mapping" and "OpenGL ES" but still can't find a good tutorial. Can anyone recommend me a good place/site I can study for this please?

There are plenty of apps that will track my run via gps if I bring my phone on the run with me, but I don't wanna do that. I want to be able to map a course out, enter how long it took me, save the map and even share it with friends. Ideally the app would have the gps running features I mentioned above just on case I ever do start bringing my phone with me. Aug 16, 2010I am looking for an application that can create a map by me carrying the phone and walking a certain path.There is a 300 acre park near where I live. The maps they provide are way off base. I would like to walk all of the trails and have the Droid record where I am walking.You know, this may be easier than I think using ASE and writing a Python script. I'll just get the location every half second and write it out to a file. It'll be interesting to see how the maps turn out, seeing the low resolution of the GPS receiver.
