I'm running the LG MS840VV3 rooted.
I can't seem to find any good roms for it, they are all based on gingerbread, I'm dying to find an ICS version rom.
Regardless, when I reboot my backed up rom, all my apps are still there and such. Makes it nice for testing. However, is there a way I can keep all my apps from my basic Rom into any new rom I install.
Would not wiping the data before installing the rom work?

merging SMS between 2 Android devices. Both are Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3 or 4.4.2 (I might update to 4.4.2 soon), none are rooted. I have been using G Cloud Backup but it does not seem to offer a merge option. It's a one-shot, one of the device won't be used afterward.
I don't know in which format SMS are stored on the device... maybe these format would be easy to merge? Or maybe there is an app that could do that (backup phone 1, restore it on phone 2 with a merge option...)?
What happened is that I received SMS on both devices and I'd like to merge them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen numerous questions regarding problems merging sms messsages after being restored from databases, applications, social networks or ported from different operating systems, etc all of which seem to relate to compatibility issues.
One of my contacts recently changed telephone numbers resulting in subsequent texts being listed in a different thread. After adding the new number to the existing contact I now have two sms threads under the same person's name. I'd like to merge these and delete the old number but I can't find a way to do that. This means that if I want to keep a name for the old sms thread then I have to keep the old number in my contacts. Seems a bit daft to me.
I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000 with 2.34 firmware but unless I'm missing something WM, iPhone, etc have the same issue. I don't know if apps like GO SMS and Handcent address this problem but even if they did its like taking a sledgehammer to a minor inconvenience.
I'm searching for an app for merging and /or comparing the content of any kind of files as WinMerge do for Windows. Any tool for our Android Devices?

One day I made a backup of my phone via ClockWorkMod like every good boy should, and updated to CyanogenMod 10.1
After a few minutes I realized I didn't exactly what 10.1 just yet, and wanted to switch back to 10. So I went to ClockWorkMod and restored my backup.
Now in my folder, I have all of the normal folders in the /sdcard/ directory, but I also have a 0 folder (which I found is a feature in 4.2.1 to allow for multiple users or something of that sort?).
Basically I want to safely remove the "0" folder, but merge all of the goodies in it with the stuff in my /sdcard/ folder, so it will be back to the way it was before I got 10.2/4.2.1 and just have all of my stuff on my /sdcard/ area.
I rooted with unrevoked but idk how the heck to install the roms i want? and can you even install roms with unrevoked?? plus can i use rom manager? i used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787304

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is where I am now near enough after a day of doing this. I rooted my phone initially and it seemed to work, I had superuser permissions but it didn't seem to be fully rooted, I couldn't flash any ROMS and when in HBOOT setting, when I tried to go through the recovery part to flash the ROM the red triangle just stayed there it didn't change. I thought if I rerooted it may help, so I did, with the same step by step guide, however when I connected the phone and opened the windows push batch files the red triangle didn't change and I had to disconnect and turn the phone back on.
So now I have my phone which I do not think is fully rooted as the push files didn't work properly and I cannot flash any ROMS as I cannot run the recovery mode properly or get to use clock work mod as the red triangle is just always there. Everyone seems to have been having success and I just cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried so many things from downloading custom ROMS from modaco etc. but I cannot flash any ROMS and now I'm just stuck. If there is a way I can properly just root the phone and flash the ROMS id be happy, I feel like I know what to do, but I just do not understand why when rooting, the last part when u connect the phone and open the push files didn't work, and also why when i thought the rooting had worked the first time, i still couldn't get to the part where I flash the ROMS.
How much or how little do these rooted roms affect battery life? I am moving from an Eris to Droid and I like the pinch-zoom feature of the Eris and I know there are some Rooted mods for this feature. just curious if my battery life would get a lot worse then Stock. Now I honestly don't know if I would OC the Droid, I need to use it for a week or 2 first before I decide if I want to Root it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a ROOTED Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results.So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

I opened the FB app from my Rezound (ICS) and looked at the settings. The "Sync Contacts" option is set to "Don't sync"
Then I looked in the Android Settings --->Accounts&sync--->facebook where there are three boxes, sync calendar, sync contacts, and sync live feed. I made sure all those boxes are unchecked.
I figured I'd just try deleting FB from my Rezound but it seems to be undeletable if that's a word. It's like standard bloatware that I actually use on occasion.
So why are my FB contacts still merged with my Google contacts? I am seeing my contacts with their FB photo and this drives me crazy. I don't want FB communicating with my address book. Gingerbread didn't do this.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what's wrong. I've rooted my phone, 2.2 with Clockworkmod Recovery. I've loaded up my sdcard with .zip files of a few ROMs I'd like to try, go through the whole process of loading up a new ROM, and every single time the phone boots back into the stock ROM. I've had some success with loading up the given ROMs in ROM Manager- but I'm trying to install Smoked Glass 8 or Ultimate Droid, and those are not working.

I'm trying to figure out why my text message 'conversations' are merging so that they get lumped under one main 'person'?
I've only had the phone a couple days, so not a ton of messages yet. But a couple of times now, all messages have gotten 'lumped' together under one user, regardless of who they are received from or sent to.
The first time it happened, I cleared the entire thread. But now it's happening again. Even forwarding a message to someone else gets included in the same thread.
But it seems as if the messages are going to the right people, not sure. The problem is hitting 'reply'. Not sure who will get it.
Last night I downloaded the Handcent SMS client, and am using that now (disabled the notifications, etc., in the default SMS client). The HTC SMS widget seems to work OK with the Handcent client thankfully, but it is only showing the last 'conversation' of a long thread. So not sure if it's a default message app issue or not.
I imported the contacts from G Mail (just a few e-mail contacts I had). All the phone gets is e-mail contacts I already have in my phone (e-mail address entered in that contact with their phone info). Some of my contacts are now two times in the phone, once tagged Google and once tagged Phone. How can I merge these contacts? Also, the contacts aren't being synced up to Google, just from Google to the phone.

I also synced with the Gmail contacts and slowly I'm merging them. how the hell do I export the contacts to a new fresh CSV as I make changes on the phone? I set up a PSXROMS folder on my SD card, and my first d/l was Metal Gear Solid disc 1 and 2. I got them from here PSX ISO Download Section. So I downloaded the .rar, unzipped to get the .bin (says it's compatible), open the emulator, the emulator sees the files in the folder, I click it, it refreshes the rom screen. The emulator doesn't start. Am I doing something wrong? Wrong file type?

Whats the difference between a 2.0.1 ROM and 2.1 ROM?
I've been rooted for awhile and always stuck with either AdamZ ROM or Pete's Bugless Beast and they were all based off of 2.0.1. Is there something special I need to do in order to run a ROM based off of 2.1?
I'm currently running Warm TpT and I love it, and just wanted to know what the difference is between ROMS w/ Sense opposed to ROMS w/o Sense. I live in an area w/ 4g and am quite fond of it so I've stuck w/ ROMS running sense. Also, are there any Senseless ROMS that have 4g?
