General :: Facebook Contacts Merging With Google Contacts Stop It?
Oct 18, 2012My Facebook contacts are merging with my ICS "People" address book and Google contacts. I don't want this.
I opened the FB app from my Rezound (ICS) and looked at the settings. The "Sync Contacts" option is set to "Don't sync"
Then I looked in the Android Settings --->Accounts&sync--->facebook where there are three boxes, sync calendar, sync contacts, and sync live feed. I made sure all those boxes are unchecked.
I figured I'd just try deleting FB from my Rezound but it seems to be undeletable if that's a word. It's like standard bloatware that I actually use on occasion.
So why are my FB contacts still merged with my Google contacts? I am seeing my contacts with their FB photo and this drives me crazy. I don't want FB communicating with my address book. Gingerbread didn't do this.
General :: Linkedin Incomplete Contacts Sync
Jul 4, 2012I have a galaxy note with gingerbread, rocket rom (I don't understand much about roms, if necessary I can upload a screenshot of the "about" section).
I use the built in contacts app, and sync it with my gmail contacts, facebook contacts, and linkedin contacts.
I noticed that on the linkedin account, only the first 70 contacts out of 98 sync with the phone. Meaning that on the computer, I have 98 contacts on the linkedin web site, but on the phone I only see the first 70 (alphabetically), and the rest are simply missing. I have some of these contacts also on gmail and facebook, so I have the contacts on the phone, but it's like they don't have a linkedin account as well.
Tried removing the linkedin account, restarting the phone, and adding the account back but nothing changed.

Dec 19, 2009I imported the contacts from G Mail (just a few e-mail contacts I had). All the phone gets is e-mail contacts I already have in my phone (e-mail address entered in that contact with their phone info). Some of my contacts are now two times in the phone, once tagged Google and once tagged Phone. How can I merge these contacts? Also, the contacts aren't being synced up to Google, just from Google to the phone.

Nov 26, 2010I just recently got my xperia x10 and had to almost immediately upgrade to the 2.1 system. I am noticing a few things that I'm not fussy about from the 1.6 system but the thing that is bugging me the most is that I cannot (figure out how to) link contacts in my phonebook to their facebook and twitter accounts. In 1.6, when you edited a contact it gave you the option to click LINK. I cannot find any of this on the new system. As well, for contacts that I had linked before, their facebook profile pic (current from the time when i linked them before upgrading to 2.1) shows up on their contact information (i usually only link facebook, as i dont use twitter as much) and their profile is linked. However when i go into EDIT, it says FACEBOOK, Timescape and a big exclamation mark that has a message beside it saying : Timescape Plug-In Manager contact information is not editable on this device. i SHOULD be able to edit and link all my contacts. that was the whole purpose of the xperia having this timescape program.

Nov 21, 2010My Eris won't sync my Google, Facebook, or Twitter accounts. It last did so last Monday, 11/15. I have had emails, messages, tweets, etc. sent to me, but they never sync to my phone, I have to go online to get my Gmail (refreshing within the app does nothing), but refreshing manually from the Facebook and Twitter apps does work. Going into Settings > Accounts & Sync > Sync Now does nothing, and all of the settings here are correct.I've tried rebooting and pulling the battery, but it still does it. Haven't installed anything new recently, since my internal storage is full.

I have noticed that my bars are never full. I even compared it with my friend's Nexus One w/ her T-Mobile service and she had 3 bars when I only had 1.
I constantly get zero or 1 and occasionally 2 if lucky. I thought I was in a bad service area but I'm sitting at home where I had full bars before getting this one - same Verizon.
What could be the cause? Do I need to take it to VZ store (I got the phone from BestBuy) and have them take a look?
My apps - Facebook/Twitter/Google Finance/Etc are all slow and often fail because of low connectivity. It's really annoying and I'm not getting full 3G impact on my phone for $30 that I'm paying!
General :: Samsung Galaxy 3 - Organizing Contacts (Google And Facebook)
Jul 20, 2012I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am a little confused on how information for contacts is organized.
I saved all my contacts info on Google, so when I added my Google account to this photo, everything downloaded and synced up. Seems okay.
Because I find the Facebook app calendar syncing feature to be less than adequate (for example, I like having higher resolution pictures display on this large screen) I downloaded a third-party Facebook contacts sync app. Works great.
Now, I have several contacts that are both Google and Facebook contacts. At least one of my Google contacts has a Google picture that that person has uploaded which is different from their Facebook picture that is syncing tocmy phone. Do I have the option to select which picture displays? I thought that selecting default information for the contact would work, but I don't seem to have that option there.
I guess another way of asking this question is how Android decides which picture to display when there are both Google profile pictures and Facebook picture synced on a phone. SCH-I535

Aug 27, 2010I recently had my DI replaced due to a tech issue, but before I switched over I backed up everything using "My Backup Pro".
When it backed up my contacts, it backed up EVERYONE - including 550+ people I follow in Twitter. I did not have these as visible in my People (phonebook) list, just in Twitter. When I synced with my new DI, My Backup Pro installed every contact to my People list, as the app must have thought it was all part of my phonebook. I tried to make the list invisible like I had it on my original phone, but that did not work, so I deleted each Twitter contact manually from my People list. They no longer show in my People list (though are available to be made visible from Twitter).
This did not solve the problem. Any app that accesses my contact list (even Search People) displays the FULL list which includes my Twitter contacts. There is no long-press or menu options available to hide them.
I am willing to clear my contacts and upload the list again, as they are all backed up to my Google account, but I am afraid it would sync with the server and delete what is saved there.
Any advice on how to clear my contact list of my Twitter followers, or start over with my Google-saved contacts?

Jul 14, 2010Coming from my i Phone, and after my new Evo 4G pulled in all my face book info, I had quite a few double, triple, and even quadruple contacts. What to do? When I went to my Google apps contact page, I saw that I can merge them there! Very easy to select the contacts, click merge, and then it gives you a preview of the merged info.

My question is.. where is this "linking information" stored? If I get a new phone, will they still be linked? Am I wasting my time by linking all these contacts?

I currently use an Apps account and a regular account both with a myname@mydomain.com login. Once I got the hang of which services used apps vs, regular vs. both (and how to tell which one I was using for what), this seems to work OK on the desktop. But on Android certain services like Checkout seem to only work with @gmail.com accounts. I wonder if this change will make things more or less confusing on Android.
