I havent seen a thread on this yet, and im sure this will help those of you wanting to flash a custom ROM (even a rooted version of Froyo!)after rooting your phone with unrevoked 3.1
Step ONE:
The first thing to do is to download and install Titanium Backup from the market, and backup all of your apps and user data.Once this is done, shut your phone off.
STEP TWO:
Press and hold your volume up button. then press and release your power key while continuing to hold your volume up button.
Your phone will boot into a white background menu that has green text at the top, followed by FASTBOOT highlighted in red, followed by text in orange, then 4 options. You can release your volume up key once this menu is up.
I installed unrEVOked3. It says it was successful. I downloaded ROM manager,busybox, and Titanium Backup. Busybox says my phone is rooted. I have a USCC american HTC Desire. I tried to Install Defrost 5.7 when I try to install in it looks like all is well, then it goes to a white screen with green HTC logo. I then have to do a battery pull and restore to get back to my phone being usable. I am getting a list of saved backups because I have been trying repeatedly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI put the bakedsnack1.9.evo.zip on the sd card, wiped data/factor rst and wiped cache partition as the notes say. I then went ahead and tried to install the rom off the sd card and i'm getting "can't open /sdcard/bakedsnack1.9.evo.zip bad) installation aborted.
Did I do something wrong when I rooted?
It may be the rom, I just tried to unzip and I'm getting an error. I'm going to redownload and open it on the pc to ensure it opens then send to sd card and try again.
Update. just redownloaded it from bakedsnack.com and that one also will not open.. Odd

I've been using a galaxy Y S5360 for almost 18 months and I have been using custom ROMs for around 15 months. First I tried Creed 3.5 and loved it. A few months moved to Jellyblast 3 which was again fine. Two days ago I tried installing Hyperion and my phone got bricked I managed to flash stock ROM using odin . But now my phone gets bricked everytime I try installing a custom ROM ( tried Creed 3.5, Jellyblast 3 and Hyperion 8) and Im stuck with the stock ROM .

It always says: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information". I've loaded up my sdcard with .zip files of a few ROMs I'd like to try, go through the whole process of loading up a new ROM, and every single time the phone boots back into the stock ROM. I've had some success with loading up the given ROMs in ROM Manager- but I'm trying to install Smoked Glass 8 or Ultimate Droid, and those are not working.

If I flash the new OTA ROM, do I loose all my settings, like my gmail accounts, checkbook balances, game scores etc? I did (at least I think I did) and Nandoid backup using ROM Manager, confirmed the filename that I chose was on the SD card. Does that mean that if I boot into recovery mode, I should see the file? And can I boot into recovery to verify that it's there and then back out? Sorry for the noobie questions, searching through the forums (which I did) can be very challenging.

I'm running the LG MS840VV3 rooted.
I can't seem to find any good roms for it, they are all based on gingerbread, I'm dying to find an ICS version rom.
Regardless, when I reboot my backed up rom, all my apps are still there and such. Makes it nice for testing. However, is there a way I can keep all my apps from my basic Rom into any new rom I install.
Would not wiping the data before installing the rom work?

View 49 Replies View RelatedThis is where I am now near enough after a day of doing this. I rooted my phone initially and it seemed to work, I had superuser permissions but it didn't seem to be fully rooted, I couldn't flash any ROMS and when in HBOOT setting, when I tried to go through the recovery part to flash the ROM the red triangle just stayed there it didn't change. I thought if I rerooted it may help, so I did, with the same step by step guide, however when I connected the phone and opened the windows push batch files the red triangle didn't change and I had to disconnect and turn the phone back on.
So now I have my phone which I do not think is fully rooted as the push files didn't work properly and I cannot flash any ROMS as I cannot run the recovery mode properly or get to use clock work mod as the red triangle is just always there. Everyone seems to have been having success and I just cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried so many things from downloading custom ROMS from modaco etc. but I cannot flash any ROMS and now I'm just stuck. If there is a way I can properly just root the phone and flash the ROMS id be happy, I feel like I know what to do, but I just do not understand why when rooting, the last part when u connect the phone and open the push files didn't work, and also why when i thought the rooting had worked the first time, i still couldn't get to the part where I flash the ROMS.
How much or how little do these rooted roms affect battery life? I am moving from an Eris to Droid and I like the pinch-zoom feature of the Eris and I know there are some Rooted mods for this feature. just curious if my battery life would get a lot worse then Stock. Now I honestly don't know if I would OC the Droid, I need to use it for a week or 2 first before I decide if I want to Root it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a ROOTED Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results.So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.
