I was playing with my htc evo 3d and popped the sd card out without unmounting it...i freaked out turned it off...got it back in turned it on and my icon themes were broken and most of my pics were broken...i factory reset the phone and formatted the sd card...now it doesnt run media scanner on start up or on sd card install...and the external_sd folder doesnt show up in astro file manager...

I am in the process of rooting my phone. What does "unmounting" the sd card and "mounting" it mean? I get that it means taking it out of the phone and in, but is there a certain way of doing it? I have my phone plugged in the computer right now, so can I just take the micro sd card out? Or can I just take it out whenever?And when I put it back in, is there a certain way to do that?Sorry for such a dumb question, I just want to be sure I do everything right!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI used Lenovo A789(ICS 4.0.4) android. I have Scandisk 32 GB memory cards. Some the mobiles give up a popup message "SD card unexpectedly removed or SD card damaged" .
Sometimes my mobile taker restart with that message when "SD card unexpectedly removed or SD card damaged" message is shown I am unable to use SD memory's apps.
I was using 4gb class 4 earlier , I bought 16gb class 6. At first empty ad card was working hood then when I used up a few gb and re inserted the sd card the problem began After 5-10 seconds of mounting sd it goes out and phone shows that sd is removed unexpectedly, sometimes my phone hangs in this cycle and reboots(starts again from bootanimation part) This sd works fine with other things like my Sony cybershot w-x50

So in order to install it the OP wrote in the instructions to factory restore the phone which I did. When I cleared the cache and everything and went to install it TWRP said it failed so I just erased it. Then when I went to reboot it was stuck on the screen with the red writing so I rebooted it in Recovery and it said there was no OS installed. I looked for this problem online and found that if I mounted the phone to my computer I could copy and paste a new ROM for my phone which I eventually tried to do but for some reason it does not allow me to check off either of the boxes next to "Mount SD Card" or "Mount Internal." It does let me mark all the other boxes. what I should do so the computer recognizes the phone as a "Removable Disk" like it used to so I can just drag and drop a new OS into my phone and put this thing behind me already?

Went to Verizon today they inserted a new SD card for me, by the time I got home which was about 5 mins the error message was back. When i go into settings under storage, it tells me to insert a SD card, problem is the card is already in the phone. When i turn the phone off and then restart it is fine for several mins the the error message pops up and i cannot use the SD cardNot sure where to go from here?????? phone is Droid razr x HD

I recently bought an S4 and all was well until I decided to start using the phone to listen to music. Whenever I listen to music on the phone after a minute or two I get a message saying "SD Card removed unexpectedly". This message continues to display until I restart the phone or physically remove the SD Card and re insert. The SD Card is 64GB so it shouldn't be a compatibility issue.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a Sumvision Cyclone Voyager Tablet with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and I a problem when a micro-sd (Kingstom 16Gb class 10) card on the slot, when the screen turns off (going sleep) by itself and after 5 seconds it comes back on with a msg that the micro-sd was removed.
If I remove the micro-sd it works OK.
I already tested with another micro-sd 2Gb class 4 and I got the same problem (I have this SD card working on my phone for more than one year without a problem).

I am getting a Removed SD Card notification. It says to "Insert a new one".THe card is installed. When I go to Settings/SD Card, the Unmount SD Card and Format SD Card are grayed out. I can't access any pics or music as it says no Media Card. What is going on and how do I get the phone to recognize the SD Card?

In the middle of a call this morning, it went silent and when turned on again, it displayed "SIM card removed. Reboot phone". I took the card out and put back in 3 times, but it still happens. Wi-Fi is working, phone is still running apps. I tried to press the SIM card tightly while trying to connect, but it's no good. A quick Google search does not show many people with this problem. Anyone has a quick solution before I call ATT or Samsung?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell the problem is I have the pre-installed SD card and for some reason, it is now saying that "the SD card is unmounted or removed" but its not. When I go into settings I have the option to Unmount it, so why is it saying that. If I restart the phone, the SD card works for about 2 minutes then tells me that its Unmounted again, which it is not. when I try to take a picture the phone tells me this AGAIN!
I cannot save any files, access music, pictures, or video. I can access the files when it is plugged into the computer, but when i try to add something to the SD card from the computer, it doesn't go on the phone. Is my Card corrupt? Do I format it? Help?
If this helps, this didn't happened until i upgraded my Droid to Froyo.
On my new Ally (had it for 2 weeks i think now, mabye 3) i keep getting a message that says "SD card removed unexpectedly". I'm not touching the SD card, and all i have to do is pop it out and back in and all is well. whats going on? Also, how big of an SD card does the ally support?

During the holidays I added my mothers and girlfriends gmail-account to my android phone (android 4.0) so they could check their email at wifi points. Afterwards (about a week ago now) I removed their accounts again. So, there is no trace from their accounts left on my phone. However, I just noticed that when they go to the play store on a pc, they can still install apps! Even though they are not logged in to my phone! I tried it, and indeed, my phone started downloading the app.
Googling how to stop this did not turn up anything useful, How do I disable their ability to install apps? I even added the accounts again to the phone, made sure all syncing was off, removed them (with all syncing off), and it still worked!
I seem to be missing the Instant Mix on Google Play Music on my Nexus 7 as well as on my Nexus 4. Has Google changed anything here or am i doing something wrong. The Instant Mix Tab is gone and when clicking the 3 buttons next to a song the option is missing as well. On my Desktop i still have them though!
