I accidentally (sure!) removed all permissions on a folder in / so now the system can't even read it to display it in root explorer. I've searched pretty hard and tried chmod and a couple other ideas in the terminal but nothing so far has worked.

I have a problem with my Xperia U (on rooted 6.1.1.B.1.54).Yesterday I accidentally removed downloadprovider.apk and downloadproviderUI.apk ... and I couldn't use googleplay anymore...
So I tried to get these apps in the folder again.. but they weren't "installed" And I accidentally changed my system/app folder's permissions to something bad. I had to remove the battery but now the phone does not start.There is a logo loop... What can I do?
Basically, it's a permissions problem. I've tried using Permissions fix on CWM but with no luck. As FAT doesn't have a permissions subsystem, seems like there is no problem with it, but as EXT4 has it, everytime the phone creates a new file/folder, it cannot read its own file.
Although I can connect and see the files on the computer, they're marked with a padlock. It means I don't have permission to access it.
I can regain access to the file and the phone can read it back again, but it's a pain in the place if everytime the phone creates a file, I have to put it back to the computer and redo the permissions sets. It can't even view it's own files. I've already tried to set the SD card root permission to myself, and with everyone capable of read/write access. But unfortunately, newly created folders aren't affected by this.
As far as it looks like, it creates a 'user' for every app that makes the file.
For example, the folders on that picture were created by the camera software, so the user of both is "10041 - user #10041". It has R/W access, but nobody else has access to even see what's inside.
I really enjoyed the transfer speeds with EXT4 (I'm on Ubuntu 12.04), even inside the phone and outside, using USB cable and apps feels snappier. I don't want to go back to FAT32..
I'm using a Motorola Atrix 4G and Morrisoft CM7 latest buid (Custom ROM).
Just to clear things up: Device CAN read and write files under EXT4, but it trips on its own tail by settings permissions badly.
Remove removed items from downloads folder....I downloaded an app from the market, installed it, removed it . Its still showing up in downloads section of market. anyone know how to remove it from downloads?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe permissions say that you must agree to allow them to delete files from your storage including your SD card; must agree to allow them to extract any information from your phone, etc. In other words they can do any thing they want with your phone and the data in it.
Is there any way to not grant these permissions and still get updates?

Sometimes my mobile taker restart with that message when "SD card unexpectedly removed or SD card damaged" message is shown I am unable to use SD memory's apps.

Before doing so I changed the default system sound to that droplet sound (in the normal settings view, no root, nothing special with this phone) but now I've upgraded the 'normal' setting to change 'system sound' has gone. At first empty ad card was working hood then when I used up a few gb and re inserted the sd card the problem began After 5-10 seconds of mounting sd it goes out and phone shows that sd is removed unexpectedly, sometimes my phone hangs in this cycle and reboots(starts again from bootanimation part) This sd works fine with other things like my Sony cybershot w-x50

So in order to install it the OP wrote in the instructions to factory restore the phone which I did. When I cleared the cache and everything and went to install it TWRP said it failed so I just erased it. Then when I went to reboot it was stuck on the screen with the red writing so I rebooted it in Recovery and it said there was no OS installed. I looked for this problem online and found that if I mounted the phone to my computer I could copy and paste a new ROM for my phone which I eventually tried to do but for some reason it does not allow me to check off either of the boxes next to "Mount SD Card" or "Mount Internal." It does let me mark all the other boxes. what I should do so the computer recognizes the phone as a "Removable Disk" like it used to so I can just drag and drop a new OS into my phone and put this thing behind me already?

Went to Verizon today they inserted a new SD card for me, by the time I got home which was about 5 mins the error message was back. When i go into settings under storage, it tells me to insert a SD card, problem is the card is already in the phone. Any JB keyboard that allows you yo disable the period like the gingerbread keyboard from before? I hit the period too often and bugs me to no end.

Whenever I listen to music on the phone after a minute or two I get a message saying "SD Card removed unexpectedly". This message continues to display until I restart the phone or physically remove the SD Card and re insert. The SD Card is 64GB so it shouldn't be a compatibility issue.

During the holidays I added my mothers and girlfriends gmail-account to my android phone (android 4.0) so they could check their email at wifi points. Afterwards (about a week ago now) I removed their accounts again. So, there is no trace from their accounts left on my phone. However, I just noticed that when they go to the play store on a pc, they can still install apps! Even though they are not logged in to my phone! I tried it, and indeed, my phone started downloading the app.
Googling how to stop this did not turn up anything useful, How do I disable their ability to install apps? I even added the accounts again to the phone, made sure all syncing was off, removed them (with all syncing off), and it still worked!
I seem to be missing the Instant Mix on Google Play Music on my Nexus 7 as well as on my Nexus 4. Has Google changed anything here or am i doing something wrong. The Instant Mix Tab is gone and when clicking the 3 buttons next to a song the option is missing as well. On my Desktop i still have them though!
