General :: Removed Battery While Factory Reset
Apr 11, 2014
I selected in recovery mode: Wipe Data / Factory Reset -> delete all user data
The screen went blank and I had to remove the battery.
Now the phone is jammed and won't start again. The white THL blinks and the screen goes black. Also it won't go to the recovery mode.

I rooted my phone to uninstall some bloatware system apps several months ago. Now, I need to perform a factory data reset just to remove the Google account associated with it. Is it safe to do so or will I lose any further system apps or worse, brick my phone? I have the apk's of the system apps that I removed, but for some reason I am not able to restore/install all of them. I used ES File Explorer back then to remove those apps. [My phone is Samsung GT-I5801 running Android 2.2]

So can I factory reset to go to stock after I installed bootstrapper and removed bloat after rooting? The issue is that the wall charger is not working while the usb charging works. I think it may have something to do with something I removed.

Motorola Atrix 2. Since all my personal and official data was stored on the sd card, which I couldn't pull out from the phone, I had activated the factory reset - including sd card formatting - before handing it over. As luck would have it, I was pressurized to give it up before the process finished so in a bid to save the data from getting into the wrong hands, I pulled out the battery while it was erasing data from the sd card according to the dialog box. My questions is: What are the chances of the sd card getting corrupted and the data becoming inaccessible? I need to know as I'm under a lot of stress because of it and there's no chance of getting it back. I had changed my google account's password the moment I reached home (after fifteen to twenty minutes) so I also the phone would have locked out.

Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

I find that my battery progressively gets worse and worse until I'll ultimately doing a factor reset and it fixes it. It really doesn't make sense to me. I don't use very few applications. The thing is it's always a downward progression. This is the 4th time I've done a factory reset and I will get 16-24 hours no problem. But the last week I've been getting 6-8 hours. It does this everytime, just gets progressively worse until I reset it and it's fine again. It really does only take me about 15 minutes to completely factory reset my phone and getting it back to the exact working condition as before though so that's not bad. This is not a "oh I haven't charged my phone it 37 hours nananan" threads or any other battery life battle. Just want to see if anyone else has noticed this.

If I do a factory rest will my internal battery calibration be reset? I'm asking because I have a seidio 3500mah battery and it won't fully charge in the phone. I'm wondering if starting fresh(factory reset) and a fully charged battery will re calibrate the charging settings to this battery. Will this work?

I have set up the one-click root on my X, and have also licensed and installed Titanium Backup. I am now ready to remove some of the crapware on my phone. I just have this last question. After "freezing" and/or removing some of the crapware, do I need to do a Factory Reset, or, can I just do a Battery Pull?

My phone all but died yesterday (see my other post) and was forced to do a factory reset. I went through and only re-installed apps that did not state about preventing the phone from sleeping. Most days I unplug my phone at 6am and its completely dead by 2pm. I unplugged today at 8am and at 2pm its at 75% to 80% (normally unplugging at 8 it would be at 30% at 2pm. I dont know if its the factory reset, or not installing apps that keep the phone from sleeping or what the deal is, but wow. My usage has been the same today if not more than normal cause of reinstalling my apps and re setting everything up from doing the reset. When I looked at my phone a few minutes ago to see if I have to do my normal afternoon recharge and it was still near full.

I recently had to do a factory reset and I lost all my apps. One of them was a text battery indicator that put a 1x1 icon on my screen that was transparent and just said "ninety percent" I can't find it at all in the market. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and remember the name?

I'm having some problems with my Android TV box. When I try to factory reset the box, it boots with the initial setup screen as you'd expect. However when I restart the box, it returns to its pre-reset state, with all my apps and settings as they were before the reset. I have tried the following:
- Full factory reset
- Installing older firmware, deleting partition cache, then reinstalling the new firmware
Despite all this the box still boots with my previous apps/data/settings.

I want to do a factory reset on my Verizon s3 to try and fix the issues from the latest software update.
I moved all pictures to the external sd card. Will performing a factory reset wipe out the contents of the external sd card? I don't care if the internal sd card gets cleared out.

So my aunt recently gave me her old HTC Thunderbolt. Ive tried doing a factory reset through settings and also through the volume down/power button but neither worked. Every time i try to do a factory reset it brings me back to the boot loader screen and says ***LOCKED***SECURITY WARNING***. I also tried loading the stock RUU onto the phone but it says *MAIN VERSION IS OLDER and wouldnt accept the RUU I put on the SD card. How I can get this phone to factory reset? Or where I can find a stock RUU that will work? Phones current software: Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich Bootloader screen says:
MECHA XD SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.08.0000
MICROP- /
RADIO-2.02.00.1117r

My current ROM does not allow me to Turn on the Debug Mode for some reason I don't know. The tablet is provided by our school so it has many restrictions like Facebook, Twitter and any other platforms that is not "trusted" by the government. The tablet is being updated like every day to patch the restrictions. I was be able to turn on the USB Debug mode but now they blocked it, too. So I decided to get tablet back to factory settings so I will be able to Turn on Debug Mode and root the tablet and remove the restrictions. I do press Power Button & Volume Up button to open up Android System Recovery. The weird thing is I only have:
-reboot system now
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
I don't have any other options like "Install from SD Cart" or whatever other tablets have. Anyway I do select 2nd option which is wipe/data factory reset option and Yes -- delete all user data option.
It says:
-Wiping data...
-Formatting /data...
.. and after a while it restart and opens up like nothing changed. Same tablet before I shut down. Neither 3nd option does work. What can I do to root it or make it to the factory reset?

I have a samsung galaxy tab 2 GTP3100. today it suddenly started to restart in every few minutes.
I tried to uninstall lastly installed app, but the device restarted every time I tried to do something with it. Then i tried to reset it from the settings>>backup & Restore. but no gain. the device was as it was before.
then i tried with system recovery mode. it opened with an error message
did not match sized 'system/csc/common/system/csc/default_workplace.xml' (No data found)
despite tht I performed "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition"
it said to have completed the above operation, no further error message. I rebooted the system... but no gain.. same as before.. not a single change. and the "restarting problem" was ther.

I have a nook tablet running Cyanogenmod 7.2 that I've just sold, but when I went to try to do a factory reset it asked me for the unlock pattern, which I don't ever recall setting up. I have to send the tablet to the seller by tomorrow and I cannot do a factory reset. Is there a way for me to do a factory reset before the system loads or otherwise? I would really like to avoid having to flash the rom again (I don't even have a micro sd card at hand).

The phone is a GT-S7560M. I have googled how to factory reset it and was told to hold the vol up, home, and power keys. When I do this the GT-S7560M logo comes up and then it goes dark If I release the buttons when the screen flashes it starts up normally and takes me to the screen where it asks for my password. If I hold the vol down button, home, power, then the phone vibrates. How to get past this so i can reset my phone?

Why a Froyo factory reset really isn't (plus, a fix for upgrade issues) | Android Central Its in reference to the X but I am going to factory reset tonight and see what happens."If you're one of those folks who is less than pleased with your Droid X after the Froyo update, this one's for you. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update. His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! [Android Central Forums] Thanks Fabrian, nice sleuthing!"

I was messing with my Samsung Galaxy S the other day and came across the Pattern Lock. I thought it was pretty cool so I decided to use it. So I came up with a pattern immediately and, without any thought, I accepted the design I made (It was a complicated one) and forgot what it was right after. I know at some point after failing to enter the correct pattern you get to a "Username" and "Password" box for your Gmail and/or Google account, but, Since my device runs strictly off WiFi and WiFi is turned off I can't sign in. I also tried force resetting my device but it doesn't work like all the videos on YouTube show.
Extra Info
Name of Device: Samsung Galaxy S Media Player 3.6"
Order from Amazon
Internal Memory: 8GB
Micro SD Card: 16GB (Kingston)
Model: N/A
1. During the Google Login screen, I can't access my notification bar, therefore, I can't turn WiFi or anything else on.
2. I tried the different variations of: Turning off device. Holding Volume up+Home Button+Power Button. The "Samsung" logo pops up, vibrates once, and the screen turns pitch black all while still holding buttons and nothing just happens to happen after. When I release the buttons, the device boots up normally but I end up back at the Google login screen.
3. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back, doesn't really affect anything.
4. I tried plugging my device into my computer, but since I'm trapped at the Google lock screen, I don't have the option of connecting "Mass Storage Device" to my computer.
5. I tried adb shell (or whatever the command is) into Command Prompt and it doesn't detect my device. I have all the drivers installed for the device but because I don't have the option of tapping "Connect Mass Storage to Computer" it doesn't sync in with my computer. It just charges my device as if it were a wall charger.
My last resort option was coming to Android Central. Otherwise I'll just go to Radioshack or various other stores and see what they can do if anything at all at least.
