HTC EVO 4G :: Widget For Sound Profiles To Check Device Status Via Homescreen?
Jun 5, 2010
Is there a widget for sound profiles? I know I can create a shortcut for the "sounds and display" setting but it would be a lot easier if I can toggle say, normal, silent, and vibrate from a simple widget.
Also I frequently have bluetooth devices connected to my phone. I've found a lot of bluetooth toggle widgets, but I'd like to be able to check the device status via my home screen.

do you know what app/widget that is on the left? Maybe, do you know similar apps that can show all kinds of notifications on homescreen (not lockscreen)?
The screenshot was on Simple Calendar Widget but it has to be another app.

I just picked up a Droid, after having blackberries for years. One thing I noticed about the droid is the lack of sound profiles. I basically had two profiles I would use on my blackberry and after downloading the app ' simple sound profile widget' I still cannot manage to get the two profiles I used on my blackberry. Here is the settings I would like to achieve:
Profile 1: vibrate only for sms/mms messages and phone calls (all other notifications silent)
Profile 2: Silence everything except alarm clock.
I think the main problem is that i cannot figure out how to separate out texts from all other notifications (emails, etc.)Any help would be appreciated. I kept hearing about how customizable droids were so I just assumed this would be doable.

I have searched a bit for this info but don't seem to find much on the issue. I just got my EVO after having a Blackberry for several years. Are we able to create additional sound profiles. Example, I need to have a quiet setting while I am at work so I get quiet notifications of emails or texts, but no ringer. I love the phone, just having a hard time making the adjustment away from the berry.

Is there a quick and simple way to change Sound Profiles? maybe a shortcut or a widget or something. I can't believe that every time I want to move from one profile to another (gooing into a meetiong for example) I have to press:- Menu / Settings / Sound & Display and then select the profile.

Since the latest firmware removed the vibrate option on the drop down tray and I usually use 3-4 profiles on my phone now the silent/vibrate/normal option was perfect.. What app can you guys recommend for a quick profile change?

1. Web browsing. Especially if I go to the Facebook website, when I click on some buttons, lilke "Search", nothing happens. It is as if it is a dead link. My only solution is that I reboot my phone, and then clicking on links work again. Anyone have this or no a solution?
2. I am going overseas to South Africa - what is my best option for using my phone? I wanted to just use it for Wifi capabalities, but do not want to incur any data/roaming charges. How do you exactly disable these features so that I just have Wifi?
3. When I go to "People" I see all my contacts, and there pictures are their Facebook pictures. However, if someone updates their profile picture on Facebook, it does not show their new picture. How does this get refreshed? I went to synch and made sure Facebook was synched, still have this problem.
4. What is the most efficient/easiest way to text message, and switch between sound profiles?

I just bought a Nexus 7 for my fiance and I, and was wondering if the apps she downloaded could be used on my profile. I didn't see them on my profile, and I don't want to have to pay twice for an app.

I have a Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1. What is your best app/widget to switch profiles? I want something that allows me to switch among: completely silent, vibration without ringer, vibration with ringer. I currently use the free app "Profiles' by "egg 'n stone". It's ok, but I was wondering if there's anything better.
I know there are plenty of widgets to enable/disable ringer and vibration; I tried several, but most didn't work well, especially when I tried to combine ringer and vibration: i.e. they were ok if I only wanted to enable or disable one of the two, but not both. Coming from Nokias and the Iphone, I must say I'm really disappointed there isn't soemthing integrated in the OS to switch profiles (like with Nokias) or at least a physical button to enable/disable the ringer, like in the Iphone.

I was wondering if would be possible to perform an action for each time the USB status of the device changes.
For example if the user plugs in the cable and it is in sync/charge mode it performs a certain action, if the user then changes the phone into USB Memory Card mode another action is performed and if the user then disconnects the cable then the another action is done.

I'm basically trying to check that the device is connected to the internet to that I can access and parse an RSS feed. This is also the 1st android app I have written so I'm still finding my way around so any help/advice would be appreciated. I'm sure the variables should be assigned to something but I don't know what. The classes don't appear to have public constructors so I can't do "WifiInfo info = new WifiInfo()".............

I'm trying to check if the phone is currently asleep in a service. It's currently a very messy implementation (I'm reading a file in the filesystem that says if the phone is asleep or awake every 10 seconds) so I'm wondering if this is possible with PowerManager or something.

How can i check the current status of the GPS receiver?
I already checked the LocationListener onStatusChanged method but somehow it seems that is not working, or just the wrong possibility. So basically i just need to know if the gps icon at the top of the screen is blinking (no actual fix) or solid (fix is available)..

I have made an app that sets notifications in the drop-down status bar of Android phones. However, there is a bug in my code (sometimes the notifications are set, sometimes they are not). I want to be able TO CHECK (in the code) IF THE NOTIFICATION IS VISIBLE TO THE USER. (i.e. can the user see the notification in the status bar?).
How can I do this?

I've just rooted and Villian 2.1ified my Orange Hero. Now I swear there was an easy way to link contacts to their fb profiles, but now I can only find a way to manually do it one contact at a time. With alot of contacts, this could take somewhere between three to four years.

I have the HTC widget for wi-fi access being turned on and off placed on one of my homescreens. The widget allows wi-fi to be on or off. When clicking the wi-fi widget ON the wi-fi won't come on until I manually go into Setting ->Wireless and Networks->wi-fi network and manually turn on my Wi-fi connection. Now this is not a huge issue but one none the less. Once I connect the wi-fi in this manner it work fantastic at 54mbps. with a good connection. I know the router is working since I use it for my laptops in the house and my in-laws come and use it as well with no issues.
Is this due to the fact that it has WPA password (which is already saved on the phone as the password and doesn't ask for it to access the wi-fi)? Could it be something I am doing wrong. Is there perhaps something I can do to fix this, whether it be a setting or a 3rd party widget to toggle between on and off.

Is there a way to know if there is an instance of your widget currently on the homescreen? I always end up using variables that change state with onUpdate() and onDeleted() calls, but that obviously that isn't effective in every scenario.

I was wondering if it's possible to get the icon (shortcut) of your app on the home screen during installation instead of inside the standard apps folder? And I did find out that Android has AppWidgets but I was wondering if it supports "standard" widgets as well (javascript/html/css) ?

I had the big version of the weather widget on my home screen till I accidentally removed it. I think I removed it. It's now blank where it formally was. This is the default weather thing that's on the home page of the phone when it's new. I am assuming I had HTC's Weather widget, but now when I try to re-add it (Plus Sign/Add Widget/Weather) I get an error that says "No room for this widget", "In order to install this widget you need to create space on a page of the Home screen". So I actually cleared everything off of the main home screen and I am still getting that "No room for this widget" error. How I can get the weather back on this page?? I can add the 2 smaller versions but not the one I formerly had.

So I had the setCPU widget on my homescreen, and was noticing that when I wake my phone up, the screen comes on but it would take about 4 or 5 seconds for it to respond to any scrolling or touch input. At first I suspected it was my screen off profile being too low (480/245). But I then removed the widget and the problem seems to be solved for the most part. Can someone confirm that this is an issue or is it just a placebo? Oh, running PlainJaneT2 Stock 2.1 with OC and A2SD.
