I have an ATT Samsung Captivate i897. I can get it into download mode and recovery mode. When it boots up it goes through the ATT splash screen, 3G splash screen and then screen goes black. nothing brings up the screen. home buttons are green. In recovery mode error message states can't mount dbdata error. I really just need to get my data (pics) off of the phone. Is there a way to recover this data either forensically or hacking without deleting the data on the internal drive? When I connect it to my computer it does not recognize it? I tried installing the drivers, tried Kies, Recuva, etc. with no luck. I am using a Windows 7 machine 32bit. I have access to a Macbook Pro?

When the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).
HBoot: 6.93.1002
S-Off ( Revolutionary)
Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.

So I'm pretty new to rooting. On some themes or roms they require me to Mount System and Mount Data. I have clockwork recovery installed and when I select the option Mount System, it just acts like i didn't select anything. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I do not like windshield suction cup mounts when using a GPS in my car.
I always used a dashboard beanbag mount with my Garmin GPS.
I just bought the Droid X Car Mount and I can now use my Garmin beanbag with it by inserting the ball joint into the back of Droid X car mount - fit's perfectly.

I've been through three different car mounts so far, they of the "universal" variety... one with rubber side clamps, one padded, both with feet underneath... none of them were to my liking... didn't hold my Epic well enough, either fell out (thankfully while I was monitoring it) or felt like it could if I hit too big a bump. My question is if anyone has found a really good car mount yet, specifically for the Epic preferably? I prefer a windshield mount, but I'm willing to consider other options if it's sturdy and I can position it decently in my car.

I am trying to update my Galaxy i7500 with the following tutorial:
Easy guide to updating to Galaxo!
I have installed the ADB drivers, and have gotten to the point where I need to start loading files onto the phone, however; I am now unable to mount the phone via USB. On the phone it says "USB connected", but the device does not appear in my computer. I should mention I am doing this from windows XP, so I was not able to follow the guide exactly, however the drivers did seem to install successfully. Currently in the device manager I see "ABD Interface > SAMSUNG GALAXY"

I was fine last week.I got a update this weekend and now it will charge but it wont register that the usb is even there. I found and tried this but it did not work.
When I connect my phone to my computer via USB, it doesn't come up as an external drive, it just charges it.
USB Reference Thread
Quote:
To mount your phone as a drive on your computer you need to open the notification that appears in the notification bar on your phone and select the mount option.
If you don't get the notification, then disconnect the USB cable go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and uncheck the USB debugging option. Exit settings and connect the cable again.

I'm trying to mount my SD card on my MacBook Pro with the stock USB cable. I had a Moto Droid before my Fascinate, and I knew what to do there turn on USB debugging, then drag down the status overlay and tell it to mount. Voila, drive appears on desktop. Here, though, I can't get that to work. I have debugging turned on, I've told the phone to mount the card over USB, but my Mac doesn't see it. This is a stock Fascinate, about two weeks old and not rooted. I', I've tried both USB ports on my computer, and that hasn't made any difference.

I started having this problem today. When I connect the phone to my pc, the SD card does not mount. I've tried rebooting the phone, unplugging/replugging the usb from the computer and phone, debugging mode on/off on the phone, and clearing all of the device entries from the Windows registry. The error in event viewer shows: Event id 11: The driver detected a controller error on DeviceHarddisk2DR27. Error I get is 'please insert a disk into removable drive (drive letter)'

I had to get my moment replace because the screen screwed up. I had Easyteher on my phone prior to getting this one and worked good, it was working when first I hooked this phone up, it let me mount it to my computer and easytether worked fine. Then I don't know what happened. My computer doesn't see my phone anymore, and when I plug it into the computer is doesn't say "usb debugging connected" like it did before. Also when I pull down the notification bar and press menu it doesn't do anything. I thought that was how I mounted my phone before. The only thing that it does is charge the phone when I plug it in to the usb. I have tried on 3 computers, one using windows 7, Vista and XP, and not one of them worked. I seen that other people had this similar problem but I couldn't find an answer. My phone is not rooted either, please help me This is driving me nuts, I need to use my computer at work, and this is the only way I can get internet connection.

I lost my original microUSB cable that came with my Samsung Galaxy, and I went and bought a new one.
But, it seems like data doesn't sleep to work with this cable? Is that possible?
The phone is charging though, but I don't see a new drive popping up in my computer like usual, and I don't see the option of mounting the SD card on my phone..
Do I need a special kind of cable?

I downloaded the .zip file located in this thread. Every time I attempt to "reinstall packages" it won't work. Yes, I renamed it to update.zip, yes my phone is rooted. The error message simply says "Installation aborted" then "Unable to mount" upon a second attempt. I'm running the Axura ROM 2.0.5 using the Zeam launcher.

I've tried both the manual method as well as the Easy, one-click, auto root out there, but I can't get root to take on this device. I think I'm probably overlooking something simple. What I need to know is. Well, everything from start to finish. When I connect to my PC, I have enabled USB debugging. Should I allow the SD card to mount or keep is in "charging" mode? I have experience with the manual methods where you access ADB Shell and copy/paste commands. That's how I rooted my Hero. But I think the connection is not right somehow. I'm seeing a lot of failure messages.

OK so i updated to the newest 1.6 from BH_man's release. When everything looked good i tried gallery, but it kept Facing on me. When i looked around and found out that i had to make a new folder called SD on the card. So after doing that it would stay at the Loading screen. I could Back button out of it but then it would say i have no pictures. Then for some reason i decided to reformat the card. Bad move. After i went to setting >unmount> then format, i cant get it to mount the card again! I dunno what to do

I've just recently jumped ships from iphone 4s to samsung galaxy S3. Unfortunately i'm having a problem mounting it on the iMac. It does not show up, the internal storage or the sd card storage. Tried switching on MTP (Media device) and PTP (Camera), but that does nothing, Even tried switching on debugging USB, but that didn't work as well. At the moment relying on synching data using the browser, using applications like "iSyncr", and using Windows 8 Beta, which apparently works fine. But there is the hassle of boot camping, changing from OSX to Windows. I know there is a way round it, but that is to root your device, and install an app SGS3 Easy UMS. But that will be my last resort.

Okay, so if you are freaking out, or can't figure out why your new Epic isn't being recognized by your computer, calm down. Some of you are probably already searching for drivers. Ya I already went through that freak out when I got my Vibrant. Okay, to mount your phone, and have your computer recognize the internal/external memory, do this:Connect your phone to your computer via USB. Give it a few seconds.Next, PULL DOWN your notification bar. Next, tap your finger on "USB CONNECTED"You then get a message asking if you would like to mount. Tap "mount" confirming you would like to do so.Enjoy, your computer should now recognize the internal/external memory.BTW, reverse this process before pulling the usb cable out. Always remove a cable safely, otherwise the data can get corrupt. Don't just yank your cable out.Edit: some of you may also find the following useful. Hopefully the Epic is similar to the Vibrant in these setting
