View 2 Replies View RelatedMy browser got a bit out of whack (for some reason the default Google search page stopped displaying the search field). Also the 'data' was taking up almost 10MB and I'm running low on application disk space (dammit they have to find a way to let us store apps on our sdcards) Anyway.. I did a "clear data" thing on the browser, thinking this would only clear temporary internet files, but it reset everything (wiped out my favorites and saved passwords.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Iocean X7S phone, which runs perfect except one problem. X7S has opportunity to save apps to either internal storage, phone storage or external SD-card. Every location works as saving files. However, I can't use phone storage as apps saving location. There is Phone storage and SD card opportunities in Settings -> Storage -> 'Default write disk' . However, whichever I choose as primary, there doesn't happen anything. If external SD card is mounted, there is "Move to SD card" button in apps and a tab 'SD card' in Settings -> Apps. If I unmount SD card, there disappears opportunity to choose primary save location, SD card tab and button to move app another location. However, there reads 'Phone storage app 0.00B' and 'Phone storage data 0.00B' in apps instead of 'SD card app and data' when SD card is unmounted. So I think it is some kind of software issue.
I have tried factory reset different ways without any result, there is still only opportunity to keep apps in internal storage or SD-card. In storagesdcard0 is external SD-card and sdcard1 is phone storage.
I have set the install location of my phone to external. Even though I am installing apps to ad directly, I can't install apps higher than the internal free space left.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy GF is getting a new phone and we are having real trouble remembering her Google mail password!
We have tried all the recovery options on-line, but Google are pretty useless at recovering passwords and its driving me insane!
Now, on her old phone, it all still works, and Im just wondering if there is anyway at all as to recover or dig out the password from in the phone somewhere!
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default storage locations for video or photos taken with the Moto Droid?

View 3 Replies View Related few months ago I read somewhere that android stores the wifi passwords in plain text (seems to be known since 2010:[URL] Because I don't want my wifi password to be stored that way, I searched for a way to store the wpa passphrase. This wasn't difficult, because android usese wpa_supplicant, means I just had to find out my passphrase and replace the plain key in /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf with it. Everything still works fine and my phone is able to connect to wifi.
Now my question is: is there a way to store every new wifi password this way? It's annoying to have to edit the wpa_supplicant.conf file manually. One problem is, that it seems like android doesn't have the wpa_passphrase binary included, even if the source code seems to exist in the wpa_supplicant repository ( [URL] how to build the code (I'm not familiar with the ndk), I could try writing an app, which replaces all plain text passwords with the passphrases. But it would be awesome, if it were possible to integrate this feature in a custom rom, so no more passwords are stored plain text.
Visiting www.google.com on the Android browser (or even with an android spoofed user-agent), presents the option to "Share Location". When clicked, it uses the GPS/Cell phone towers to figure out the location. I tried the google.loader.clientLocation but that only works using the IP address. Is there a method to tap into the Android OS and access GPS data from a regular web application (and not an Android application) similar to the way Google does? [Perhaps Google uses the Google Gears app on Android to access this data.]
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way that a webpage can make a request for the users location from the android / iphone device ? Since all I need is the users location, I am trying to figure out if there is anyway I can bypass developing a native app and use some nifty html5 call to just get the users location so all a user would need to do is visit my webpage and provide permission to access his/her location?

I am using an Android and I have downloaded several media files using xscope, but I can't figure out how to make them my ringtone. I use ringroid to organize my ringtones, but I can't get the files I downloaded through scope to show up in ringroid. I know it is a stupid question, but I'm not phone savvy so if anyone knows how to move these downloads to the proper location to use as ringtones.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated my nexus to Froyo, when I'm using the browser it will start to take up all of my available memory causing me to get the low storage warning and sometimes stop me from getting text messages. The only way to free back up the memory is to go force close the browser, which is sometimes using up to 80 mb of data. Ive already tried a factory data reset and also went into the recovery and wiped and clear the cache. I never had this problem in 2.1 and its really annoying.

I tried all my various passwords, including the null and it didn't work.
I don't remember if my phone sends notifications for emails because i only made the gmail account when i bought the phone (therefore it isn't my primary account and no one sends emails to it).I have wifi connection and also 3g connection on the phone.
I am thinking the gmail account did not sync, therefore my new password isn't working. How can i sync the account, or do i have a workaround on getting this to work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy guess is, it is through GoogleBackupTransport.apk (/system/app/GoogleBackupTransport.apk) ?
I had a look at Google's Developers Guide to Backup , but it is unclear if this applies to the backup of WLAN passwords as well, nor if the mentioned "backup transport" is indeed GoogleBackupTransport.apk.
So, if I remove GoogleBackupTransport.apk, my WLAN passwords won't be uploaded ?
I've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).
The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.
Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.
So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.
For the record, I have already restarted my phone several times, and even taken the battery out to be sure. Anyhow, I have upgraded to Froyo 2.2 and after that update, I updated my Dolphin Browser. I have Google as my homepage, and now, every single time I open Dolphin, and it goes to Google, I get a popup from Google saying it wants permission to know my location. I have made sure the green check mark is checked, that indicates it wants to remember this action. Yet every time I log on, it asks me for my location each and every time.

The only problem I have noticed is that the browsers can no longer access my location. I put the location service back on the phone but no luck. I've noticed when I use something that needs GPS the gps icon appears but it doesn't stay there all the time.
