View 3 Replies View RelatedI accidentally (sure!) removed all permissions on a folder in / so now the system can't even read it to display it in root explorer. I've searched pretty hard and tried chmod and a couple other ideas in the terminal but nothing so far has worked.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my Xperia U (on rooted 6.1.1.B.1.54).Yesterday I accidentally removed downloadprovider.apk and downloadproviderUI.apk ... and I couldn't use googleplay anymore...
So I tried to get these apps in the folder again.. but they weren't "installed" And I accidentally changed my system/app folder's permissions to something bad. I had to remove the battery but now the phone does not start. There is a logo loop... What can I do?
Basically, it's a permissions problem. I've tried using Permissions fix on CWM but with no luck. As FAT doesn't have a permissions subsystem, seems like there is no problem with it, but as EXT4 has it, everytime the phone creates a new file/folder, it cannot read its own file.
Although I can connect and see the files on the computer, they're marked with a padlock. It means I don't have permission to access it.
I can regain access to the file and the phone can read it back again, but it's a pain in the place if everytime the phone creates a file, I have to put it back to the computer and redo the permissions sets. It can't even view it's own files. I've already tried to set the SD card root permission to myself, and with everyone capable of read/write access. But unfortunately, newly created folders aren't affected by this.
As far as it looks like, it creates a 'user' for every app that makes the file.
For example, the folders on that picture were created by the camera software, so the user of both is "10041 - user #10041". It has R/W access, but nobody else has access to even see what's inside.
I really enjoyed the transfer speeds with EXT4 (I'm on Ubuntu 12.04), even inside the phone and outside, using USB cable and apps feels snappier. I don't want to go back to FAT32..
I'm using a Motorola Atrix 4G and Morrisoft CM7 latest buid (Custom ROM).
Just to clear things up: Device CAN read and write files under EXT4, but it trips on its own tail by settings permissions badly.
This seems to be a bit of a vexed issue: see
http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa...
Like the person who started that thread, I need to get a unique ID for a device, without using scary permissions for TelephonyManager. I've tried
id = android.provider.Settings.Secure.getString(getContentResolver(), android.provider.Settings.Secure.ANDROID_ID);
but that just produces "android_id" on my phone. I'm using a Nexus One and Android 2.1.
I ask because I have an app that I want to launch with permissions that apply to it at that stage but I am planning to release an update that will need more permissions, but I do not want users to not install the original app because it does not make sense to have a certain permission for it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use "adb -d shell" command to start a shell on device (android dev 1 phone ) from my vista command line. But whenever I try giving such command it does not open any shell or interaction on the phone device. But instead it goes to the next line in the cmd as '$'. any help would really appreciable. I have installed adb_usb_windows.
Previously I used work well with the emulator. Using adb command never troubled me. But now with new device, I am not able to open a shell using adb -d shell command on the phone.
So my phone is rooted and I want to know if when I run an antivirus will it show my root or apps as viruses if they have superuser permissions? Because when I run antivirus it shows several viruses. If I clean them idk what it will do. And when I say several I mean like 50 to 100 files show infections.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am trying to sync a rostering app between two devices using dropsync. The .db files that need syncing are in the /data/ data/com/databases directory. Using Root explorer I can change the permissions to give full rw permission to others. The two .db files will then upload to the dropsync server. The problem is that whenever the app is opened and anything modified, the permissions change back to default and thus dropsync can't access the modified .db... Is there anyway to change this or am I wasting my time? what is the 'sticky' box option in RE?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe permissions say that you must agree to allow them to delete files from your storage including your SD card; must agree to allow them to extract any information from your phone, etc. In other words they can do any thing they want with your phone and the data in it.
Is there any way to not grant these permissions and still get updates?

However it's keep bringing IOException at

I'am trying to use a large DB file. It's as big as >8MB. I built it using sqlite3 in Mac OS X, inserted UTF-8 encoded strings (for I am using Korean), added android_meta table with ko_KR as locale, as instructed above.
However, When I debug, it keeps showing IOException at
CODE:..............
I suspect it's caused by trying to read a big file. If not, I have no clue why.
I tested the same code using much smaller text file, and it worked fine.
Can anyone help me out on this? I've searched many places, but no place gave me the clear answer, or good solution. Good meaning efficient or easy.
I will try use BufferedInput(Output)Stream, but if the simpler one cannot work, I don't think this will work either.
Can anyone explain the fundamental limits in file input/output in Android, and the right way around it, possibly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted samsung captivate with sideloading enabled. After experimenting with different wifi tethering apps from the unofficial market, I began experiencing difficulties with my wifi connection. Even after uninstalling every app that I thought was changing the wifi state, the problem still persists. I can turn on the wifi and it will act normally for about 30 seconds before turning off without user intervention. In dmesg, the error is as follows: 'mmc1: Got command interrupt 0x00060001 even though no command operation was in progress.' Is this caused by an app or is this a more complicated problem?
View 15 Replies View RelatedEvery time I flash a new ROM on my phone, whether it was my old Galaxy S2 or my current Galaxy S4, Google Play recognizes that it is the same device as before and installs all the apps I previously installed on the phone.
My android stick computer (Minix Neo X5) does not behave this way. Every time I flash a new ROM, regardless of whether it is an official ROM from the developer (Minix) or a custom ROM with CWM, Google Play does not recognize that it is the same device as before and I have to go through the arduous process of installing all previous apps.
Is there a file or folder that I could backup on my stick computer and restore after flashing that will let Google Play recognize it properly? build.prop?
