View 4 RepliesHow do I turn on Exchange calendar sync? I can't find the option. I have my Exchange email setup and everything is working fine. When I set it up I told it not to sync my contacts and calendar because I usually sync my work calendar with Google Calendar Sync. However, I am now using Office 2010 Beta at work and Google Calendar Sync does not support it.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the android community by less than 24 hours. I got rid of my iphone 3g for the HTC incredible, as so far its been great.I'm looking to have my gmail set up on my HTC using their exchange, or push email (rather than imap). I've got that set up, but had to download a new mail client to do so, as the built in mail client wont allow me to sync my work calendar (only the calendar) though my corporate exchange, and have gmail set up with exchange as well.I was wondering if there is an exchange calendar only app, or an email app that will sync my corporate exchange calendar. I do no like the interface of the email app I downloaded. I would like to use the built in email app with android 2.1 for my Gmail, and a different app to sync only my work calendar.Note, I do not want to sync my work calendar to google calendar, and then to my phone. I'm less than impressed with google calendar, and thats one more hoop to jump through / point of failure.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new HTC Hero.I am currebtly syncing with Exchange using the Exchange sync app that come with the Hero.I used to us RoadSync from DataViz on my Nokia which was great. There are a couple of features that I miss.
a) I can't set different sync schedules for different times of day lie I can in RoadSync.
b) I can't seem to access the Exchange Global Address List like I could in RoadSync.
So.
1) Does any one have experience of using the Beta of RoadSync on Android. Is it any good ? Does it have the features above ?
2) Can anyone recommend any other Exchange sync apps ?
Also, is there any way to force exchange sync, roadsync or any app for that matter to use a particular connection, i.e. 3G or wifi only ?
I am looking for the best way to sync my Outlook with my Droid 2. I am a single user, don't have MS Exchange or Google Apps. I want to be able to update both in Outlook and on my Droid and have them sync.... with the least amount of problems and applications.
I don't mind paying a (moderate) fee, but it seems like TouchDown and some of the other recommended apps require MS Exchange.
2) If I do need MS Exchange, what's the best way for me to do that?
3) I remember reading that the upcoming Droid Pro (for Verizon) will have the inherent ability to sync Outlook and the Droid (I'm not positive but I believe it will) - does this mean that there will be a 3rd party application, or an update to Froyo 2.2, that will be released afterward to allow this with other Droids?
ANY help or suggestions would be appreciated. I've spent hours and hours trying to come up with a solution (as I know others have), and I'm hoping someone can enlighten me.I am leaving on a trip in a few days and I have to get my Outlook synced before I leave.I'm desperate.
For some reason I can't sync my google exchange account. My calander syncs fine, but my mail won't. It keeps saying "synchronization is experiencing problems." Anyone else have this issue as of today? I am just trying to figure out if its my phone or something on googles end.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSay you are in your office, sitting at your computer. So you don't need your phone to notify you every time you get an Exchange email, or every time you have an Exchange calendar event, because its all popping up right on your computer screen anyways. But you do still want to receive notifications for your non-Exchange email accounts and calendar events (e.g., Gmail).
Can Touchdown be closed or "turned off" (or maybe just killed using a task killer) while you are at work, so you do not receive notifications about Exchange emails and calendars, but you do still receive notifications for all your other accounts? And then as soon as you leave the office you can just re-load Touchdown so that you start getting phone notifications again for your Exchange account?
Is there an easy way to accomplish this without using Touchdown if you are using just the native Exchange ActiveSync built into Android (sense UI)?
I hate getting notifications on my phone 2 seconds after I've received them in the Outlook on my work computer, so this is why I ask these questions. With BlackBerry (what I currently have, but I want to switch to HTC Incredible) it is easy to manage notifications this way, but I'm curious if I can do it on Android.
We have a client running Exchange 2003 SP2, and a few users would like to sync their Android phones - a Motorola Droid and an LG Ally, both running Android 2.1. Both phones give us the following error when configure a sync account:
This Exchange ActiveSync server requires security features your phone does not support.
I've made sure that Exchange ActiveSync is working, I've tried allowing unsupported devices in Exchange System Manager, adding the users to the device security exclusion list, but I'm not coming up with anything that will allow the Android devices to sync.
I'm a developer writing an application to sync Outlook 2007 contacts with GMail. These are regular local-PST contacts, not Exchange, and yes, for now I'm exclusively focused on Outlook 2007 since that's what I have available. I may look at older versions (which I own) if this one works out. Anyway, I've tried most (all?) of the sync apps and didn't enjoy the experience. I've done the export/import thing and consider that a temporary fix. So I decided to do something about it myself.
The application I have today runs in the background and periodically pulls contact data from both systems. It can identify matches using a variety of prioritized criteria, and it has a way to systematically decide what data needs to be updated in each contact list. It can write changes to both sides. So it's largely done -- except for some decisions about that sync methodology.
The tricky thing about sync is that the GMail and Outlook contact data fields are totally different.
For example, GMail allows unlimited e-mail contacts which are tagged as Home, Work, and Other. By contrast, Outlook only supports three e-mail addresses, and they're not tagged at all. What should a sync app do if the GMail account has four addresses, but only three Outlook slots to store them?
A different example: GMail also supports unlimited phone numbers, also tagged with about six categories. On the other hand, Outlook can handle sixteen phone numbers, each with a fixed category. Some are a bit odd, like Radio Telephone. What should the sync app do if the GMail account has three Work numbers? Outlook only has Business 1 and Business 2...
Granted, these are what programmers call "edge cases" -- they won't apply to most users. But I'm hoping to find some people with large, complex Outlook address books who will weigh in with opinions about how they'd like problem cases handled.
Here is a comparison of the contact data in each system (exlcuding largely similar fields, and excluding the vast array of Outlook fields that simply have no GMail equivalent)--
E-mail Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: 3, not tagged at all
Phone Numbers:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Mobile, Work Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other
Outlook: 16, one each of Primary, Mobile, Car, Home, Home 2, Business, Business 2, Assistant, Callback, Company, Business Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other, Radio Telephone, TTY/TDD
Postal Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: 4, one each of Home, Mailing, Business, Other
IM Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as GoogleTalk, AIM, Yahoo, Skype, QQ, MSN, ICQ, Jabber
Outlook: 1, untagged (probably should equate to MSN, but...?)
Generic "Other" Field:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: No direct equivalent
Web Address:
GMail: No direct equivalent
Outlook: 1, not tagged
The contact name is a special case. GMail does a poor job importing Outlook contacts since it leaves the name blank on business-only contacts. I guess Google devs only talk to their friends. The app I've written will fix your imported list in GMail by substituting the company name if the name is missing. Lots of little stuff like that is easy to do. It's the "unlimited" lists in GMail and the many places where there isn't a direct correlation that are creating questions in my mind.
When something doesn't quite match up should the app simply not do anything? Or would you prefer a partially successful sync? What about some sort of manual conflict resolution? What other options would you like to see in a sync app? (Limited to sync activity and contacts -- I don't plan to mess with ToDo lists, calendars or anything outside of contacts.)
I have ran into a couple of my users having problems syncing their Outlook contacts via Exchange 2007 ActiveSync once their number reaches into the thousands. When I reduce the number of contacts in their mailbox down, synchronization resumes. Does anyone know of a limit that android has on contact synchronization? I've seen this on both the Droid X and Incredible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a Exchange 2007 HMC setup. We are unable to sync contacts with android versions 4.0.4 and forward. Contacts simply do not apear, and no errors are shown on the android device. (SDK emulators and Samsung Galaxy S3, and NEXUS have been tested and we cannot get them to work)
Android version 4.0.3 and below are working fine.
Activesync on IOS and Windows phone, and older Android devices seem to work fine.
Our setup is very small. CAS,HUB, MBX on same server.
We only have Exchange 2007 SP1 - Rollup 6 i am afraid. Would the issues perhaps be because of that?
Have access to an android 4.0.4 or higher and Exchange 2007 HMC or not.
I can't get my android to sync up with exchange from within my network where my exchange server is located. From any external network, it works fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus One running the stock Android 2.1. I've got my normal gmail account that works flawlessly, and also my company's email hosted on google apps. Both accounts are set up, and both work for email, but only the gmail account seems to be able to sync my calendar. Is this a limitation of Android, a setting in the calendar, or a problem with the built-in calendar application? If I can't get the corporate calendar to show up, it seems like a pretty big limitation.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new around here, but I thought I'd appeal to the knowledge-base to see if anyone knew of an app that might help me.
Basically, it's pretty simple. I want to be able to control how frequently my Exchange email syncs based on what time of the day it is and/or my location. Does Locale have this functionality? Just reading the documentation, I don't think it does, but I'm not too anxious to spend $10 to find out. Could there be a plugin or something for Locale that would do it?
My basic beef with my Eris is that when I'm at work, with my email running and I get an email, even if I retrieve it and mark it as read, my phone will still beep and retrieve the email when it does its sync cycle, (which I have set to every 10 minutes) so I'll basically get the email twice, even if I've read it on my computer 10 minutes before. I'd like to be able to set it so that I can control how often it syncs when I'm at work, either based on the time or location.
Is this possible? Anybody have any suggestions?
Will the Android 2.1 update for the Eris finally allow Exchange tasks to sync with the phone? Will I have to go with some 3rd party paid app like Touchdown to get this? I don't like the idea of non-native apps that may not integrate as well.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I am a proud owner of a brand new Nexus One. I love it, but have hit a small hitch.
I am previously an iphone user and got quite a lot of use out of syncing my work (exchange) calendar onto my iphone and using it on the go to keep track of meetings and such.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this is native functionality in Android 2.1? I was able to set up my work email account with active sync, and that works fine... but when I look in the Accounts area of settings and select my work email, there is no option to sync Calendar.
I have read that you can use the google calendar desktop application to sync your outlook (via plugin) to your google calendar, which the Android device could then pull down... unfortunately, like many users in a professional environment, the IT group here refuses to give me admin privileges on my work computer. I tried installing the google calendar app into a non-protected directory, but when it tries to activate the Outlook plugin it simply fails with an error listed as 1008. Upon looking that up, it of course says it is user privileges related.
In addition, if my work PC is off, I wouldn't get those new meetings pushed to my device anyway... so that is a big hassle as well.
Is there a free way to get this done WITHOUT the google calendar desktop app? I have all the account info I need (hell, I already set this up many times on my iphone over the years)...
EDIT: Also I would like to state that I don't want a separate calendar app... I want to use the base Android one. I'm fine with getting an app to enable that, but I don't really want to have 2 different calendar apps to go through...
Is Exchange ActiveSync enabled by user? device? device type or device OS? I'm asking because I'm going to an employer who said they only support Exchange corporate email on Blackberry or iPhone. I just purchased a Samsung Epic Android phone under Sprint. As far as I now there is no Enterprise email plan for that phone. But it does run ActiveSync. Why would an employer limit the devices allowed to access email and can they really enforce that? Is the limitation usually a function of what devices can run Active Sync? Also, if they do allow my Android, what beyond entering the the user, pw and exchange server do they need to do on my phone? Can they put a policy on my personal phone?
