Sep 26, 2010I am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.

Apr 25, 2010I'm trying to use my Droid Eris to connect my MacBook to the Internet. I'm plugged in, I turn on PdaNet on my phone, but when I try to connect from the computer end, It gives me the following error message:
"Fail to launch PdaNet background service 2, err=61"
I'm running Snow Leopard, but it did the same thing before I upgraded from OS 10.5.

Anyways, I'm not sure how to connect my Motorola Droid to my MacBook. The only thing I've tried is just connecting them via USB and nothing appeared on my screen. Jul 28, 2010When connecting my Evo to a computer, there is an "Internet Sharing" option. I am curious to know, does this cost extra monthly? I know the wifi tether is the extra $30 a month, but will this charge me the same?
I only have interest in rooting my phone if it's the only way to share internet with my Netbook. Wifi isn't all that important to me, and seeing as I've completely and utterly failed at doing the Unrevoked method for rooting... I'm hoping I won't actually have to root my phone after all.

Aug 24, 2010I can't seem to get my n1 to connect to my macbook with the usb cable. when i plug it in the phone charges but the sd card will not mount on the desktop nor does it show up in the finder. it was working fine until a week ago when i took the card out to transfer some photos. i was forced to reformat upon re-inserting into n1 and that's when the usb problems began. I've tried reformatting, rebooting, switching usb ports but nothing's worked yet.

May 30, 2009I am on the verge of upgrading my phone, at the moment I've ditched the idea of a BB Storm because of the terrible feedback and reviews on bad signal and battery life. So I am left with the Magic or the new HTC Touch Pro " out in the next couple of weeks. I'm on Vodafone UK, i will be staying with them as they offer the best of what I need in my area. I use my phone for my business, it needs to sync with my microsoft office to take my contacts and diary with me, it needs to be able to be tethered (either usb or bluetooth) to my macbook so I can use it as a modem as I edit photographs on location and ftp or email them to clients. I do not send enough through my laptop to justify a 3G usb dongle on a separate tariff and Vodafone don't do a pay as you go dongle that will work with a mac (only the contract one works I've had a play with a Magic and it seems nice, I currently have a HTC Tytn 2(tilt) so i would have to get used to using a virtual keyboard with the Magic. The Touch Pro 2 looks sweet BUT it's big. So if the Magic could achieve what I need then it may be the phone for me. SO....my question is, can I use the magic as a modem for my macbook?

Also, HTC sync manage crashes when I try to use this app to send the files. I can't use Bluetooth to send files either since apparently my mac doesn't stay connected with the phone.
