Android :: Message Sent Time?

Jan 11, 2010

I finally bit the bullet and switch to the HTC Eris from an Env. I am a heavy texter and live just outside of the service area for Verizon. I have downloaded and am using (and happy with) handcent. I have done some searching between this forum and a few others and have not been able to find an answer to my questions regarding sms messaging. It is very likely that I just wasn't searching for the correct terms, and I did find some answers and others that contradicted themselves, so I apologize in advance for starting a repeat thread if any thread nazis want to lecture me on the rights and wrongs of forum etiquette.

1. Is there anyway to see what time a message was sent? On my Env it would tell me what time the sender sent it as well as the time I received it. I like being able to know when mesages were originally sent.
2. Delivery reports. I get what this does, I've seen that some people have said that it really isn't accurate, but does it really have to send the report as a text message? is there anyway to just get a log or confirmation within messaging details?
3. along the same lines I see that under MMS, there is an option for a read report. Is there anyway to get this for sms?
4. Also, if there are any other texting tips/tricks

HTC Incredible :: View Original Message Sent Time?

Aug 24, 2010

One feature of my old Env2 that I really miss and can't seem to find on my Incredible is to find the original time that an SMS message was sent. If I have my phone off for an hour, and turn it back on and receive a text message that was sent at some point in that hour, how can I find out when exactly it was sent? I don't see the option in Handcent or in the Stock Messaging app.

Motorola Droid X :: Text Message Notification Time

Sep 9, 2010

Incoming texts (not using handcent) in the notification bar are 4 hours behind. When I click the text the time is correct once the text app launches, but the notification time is always off by 4 hours. I saw someone mention an offset??? Where is that and is that only for Handcent? Will that affect the time in the actual text app? Because that time is right.

Motorola Droid X :: Text Message Alert Time Incorrect

Aug 26, 2010

Just wondering if anyone else was having this issue or may know what could be causing it. Recently all my alerts in the notification area have their times off by 5 hours. For example it is now 8:22PM my time, if I were to get a text message now the alert would have a time of 3:22PM. The other strange thing about it is that when I view the text message inside the text messaging application the time is correct. I just noticed this problem the other day, but it's possible it began when I updated to 2.2 the earlier in the week. Any ideas?

General :: Outlook Calendar Message Invite Missing Date / Time On Droid Mail

Nov 14, 2011

I switched recently from a black berry to an Android 2.3 powered device - Samsung Stratosphere on Verizon.

Email invite messages from Outlook for meetings do not show the calendar detail. Specifically, I can not see the date and time of the meeting invitations. I can perform actions to "Accept", "Decline", or Tentative" the meeting invitation. Unfortunately, there isn't any meeting detail so I don't know when the meeting is scheduled.

This is very frustrating and makes the Samsung Stratosphere or possibly the Android platform not fit for corporate environments. If I can not get this to work I will be switching to an iPhone and I will recommend to my entire corporate enterprise that we avoid Android based Smart Devices.

The Black Berry BEZ environment also provided information on meeting conflicts when you are sent a meeting invitation.

HTC Desire :: Message Alert Icon Shows Message - But No Message

May 26, 2010

I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.

Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.

My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.

Android :: GetFromLocationName Always Throws IOException First Time - But Is Successful Second Time With Same Input

May 29, 2009

My calls to getFromLocationName() always fail the "first" time I start my app. I catch the IOException which has reason:

Unable to parse response from server

Then I make a second call and it succeeds. Once things are "awake" all future calls to getFromLocationName() succeed, it's just that first one, and there is a ton of latency.

I haven't run this on a device yet, just in the emulator. This seems like a network problem, but it is so reproducible I'm thinking I'm not initializing something properly. I'm using Android SDK 1.1.
