Love the X10 but cannot get mediascape to work, get force close message each time. Sony not responded to any of my emails and when I called they were not that helpful, could only suggest I restore to factory settings. Do not really want to do that.

I upgraded firmware to R2BA023 yesterday and everything seems to work fine until today.
Whenever i open mediascape, i get 'the application playnow (process com.sonyericsson.playnonowstore.android) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again. i have tried these options below but nothing works
- from manage applications
. mediascape --> clear data, clear cache, force stop
. mediascape plug-in manager --> clear data, clear cache, force stop
. playnow --> UNABLE to clear data ??
- recycle phone a few times --> power off and on
- delete task manager to make sure this app is not auto-killing mediascape
I get the force close pop-up everytime i launch mediascape. i supposed i can do a HARD reset, but i try to avoid this as i have to re-install everything.
For some reason, everytime I try to access my Mediascape it gives me an error message saying that "The application Playnow(process com.sonyericson.playnowstore.andriod) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Then it makes me force close. I have tried to reset the phone to factory setting as recommend by sony and it is still not working. Can anybody help?

Ok, so, I mount the phone, and there's a folder (music) that I made, and it has the songs in it. BUT, when I go to Mediascape, I get the error message, "Memory Card Unavaible".

I have been having problems with mediascape since I got my x10. Originally I had music on there and then tried to put movies on but the movies would not show up. Then I took the music off and the movies showed up. Then I tried to put my music back on and only half of it shows up in mediascape and any extra videos I put on don't show up. Also if I delete music or videos the file stays in mediascape and says "No license. File Skipped". Is there a way to do a full refresh on mediascape so everything shows up or disappears the way its supposed to? Is there something I am doing wrong? They are on the memory stick because apps like RockPlayer and Astro can see them. Realplayer and mediascaple cannot.

One thing I noticed with the X10 is that, theres no EQ Control in Mediascape. so when I listen to music with the X10, the sound quality is just brutal compared to the iPhone.
Does the X10 have EQ control, and I'm just not able to find it, or do they not have it?
I'm a new user of the X10i and everytime I click on the mediascape feature, I get the message "sorry! The application PlayNow (process com.sonyericsson/playnowstore.android) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
It's been like this for the last 2-3 days.

I just switched from my 3GS to an X10, this being my second attempt with an android phone, first one being an HTC Dream that work gave me (I ended up selling it because of hardware speed, bugs, etc.) and I'm so far enjoying it. It's been bumpy but overall this is a pretty sleek phone. 1) Is there a way to change the album art for multiple albums at once within mediascape, its kind of a hassle doing one at a time? I have copied files directly and I have used Media Go. I have converted the files to mpeg4 with many different conversion programs and I still cant get any videos to show up. Is this a known issue? Is there some kind of setting that I'm missing? I've tried to transfer files from my old phone tthat were in 3GPP format and I converted that. Also I have tried other video files that were not on my old phone and I have had no luck. I have transfered music and photos with no problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile transferring songs onto the SD card, there were M3U playlist files in those folders. After deleting them off the card, they still appear in Mediascape. Doing a long press on the playlist only brings up the slide with the album art (like on timescape), and no option to delete.
Is there anyway to delete these?
I seem to have quite a big problem, which renders my Mediascape pretty useless. The short version is that after mediascape has been playing music for appr. 5-10 minutes, it closes down and of course the music stops. Now does this suck bad or what? I've just tested this by leaving the phone lying on the desk playing music, and even then it just stops after a while. Does anyone have the slightest clue to why it's doing this? Anyone experiencing something similar. This is a very big issue imo. I could mention that I'm using the Timescape home screen, since I'm kinda "testing" the features of this phone... I have only been able to reproduce this error using the Timescape home screen - using the normal homescreen I've been playing music normally. So what's this SE.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNow I've looked in a lot of places and none of them can specifically say if these are compatible with the x-10. The only thing I found was that the Jaybird is compatible with the iphone... which isn't useful. So does anyone have any experience with these or just know if it works? Ideally, Jaybird can load/play from mediascape (or even the Pandora app but that might be asking for too much), and if a call comes in, the watch vibrates, I look at it to see the caller ID, and I press a button on the wireless headphones to take the call.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor some time ago I updated my X10 to Android 2.1 and today (a week later) I noticeed all the sudden that Mediascape has linked alot of my pictures stored in my phone to some of my Facebook contacts automatically. Of course Mediascape got it all wrong, linking my children to old friends I haven't met in several years etc. This raises a couple of questions:
1. First - how do I disable Face recognition service entirely. I find this very unuseful since I have found it not that good at identifying persons even when trying to learn.
2. How come that Mediascape did this automatic link between my Facebook contact and my pictures?
3. Is there a way to clear this linking data that Mediascap does. It's pretty time consuming to have to go through all Facebook friends and select the image and Delete the link between the photo and the friend.
I guess Mediascape must have downloaded images from my frieds facebook galleries and analyzed them somehow. However this isn't something I want my phone to spend time doing. The battery time of my X10 is poor already, it doesn't need to do image processing - at least I should have the option to turn this off?
Overall I find Mediascape pertty crappy. Mostly because it's performance. I guess the ideas behind it is good, but the implementation isn't near good enough.
For example, slow browsing between images. Compare with iPhone, Samsung galaxy, HTC phones, older SonyEricsson phones such as W715 or C905. All these perform much better. Is there a way to remove this or use another media viewer?
Is there anyway to turn off the recently viewed, recently taken section of the photo part of mediascape?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i'm connected to my router at home via wifi, the connection randomly drops from time to time. My laptop and TV is fine which are both running via the internet. The setting is set to stay connected always, even when the screen goes black.
Does anyone have a resolution for this? Perhaps static IP? if this is the answer, what should the settings be?

Since updating to 2.1 I can't find out how to easily close explorer. Now I have to go back all the pages until it closes when I get to the first page.

I wonder because my old phone (Nokia 5800) allows one to have more than one application open at the same time, and it has a function to enable one to check what's running and to close anything that you don't want to run. Is it the same on the X10? If it's only possible to have one app open at the same time, that answers my question, I suppose - if I open another application, the previous one will be closed. That seems to be the case, but I checked the other day what was consuming so much battery and it turned out to be a game (Labyrinth Lite) which seemed to be running in the background. I've deleted it now, but I'd like to have a clearer understanding of how to check easily what is open.
