I have an ArrayList connected to a ListView with an onclick event that loads some extra info about each list item. When the list fits inside the screen (no scrolling) it works fine, however, when the list becomes long enought that I need to scroll I get the "Force Close" message.

I believe I accidentally (as a dumb noob) deleted the TelephonyProvider.apk and the Sprint_Promotion.apk apps. I got them on my SD card and have been trying unsuccessfully to reinstall them all night on package installer but I keep getting this wonderful "process com.android.phone" force close message. I managed to get my phone into airplane mode thinking if I disconnected it from the internet I could stop the error messages and do the installs off my SD card but to no avail. I'm trying to do it through Package Installer.

Every day, at random times, I get an error message for com.smithmicro.DM. It forces closure. This happens several times every day. This problem began when I completed my Froyo OTA update. I don't notice any 'symptoms' following the message but still, I don't think this error should be occurring.

Anyone else having issues with the phone and a system error message with something about com.htc.provider and it only gives you the option of a "force close" button. Sometimes that is all that happens and once you hit the force close the message goes away, at least for a while. Other times when this happens it deletes all of your text strings. I have 2 lines and 2 droids, both were having the same issue, did the factory resets, went to the store with both and finally gave in and took 2 refurbished phones to try and fix issue, both refurbished phones started doing the same thing immediately. I am in process of arguing with verizon about not wanting another eris to replace these.

I am facing one problem in message view. Bacically what I need to do is in message view I want to mark any telephone number or web address in different color. Can anyone please tell me where exactly the text is been written in Message View? On clicking this items it should launch appropriate event. If anyone touches a telephone number it should launch the dialer or if it is a valid email address then it should launch the Compose message event and so on.
Another question is whether to display message is Android uses the WebView?

I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.

I developed a Android-Homescreen-Widget and got a weird problem: The "Open"-Button in the Market grayed out because there is actually no Application to launch. So, many people complain because they don't realize that my package is a widget. They even give me a bad rating and I want to avoid that by giving the people a hint what they should do. A first-line-hint in the description (written in Uppercase) didn't help at all, so I'm searching for a better solution. Is it possible to display a message directly after the installation of a package in the android-market?

For an example of what I'm looking for, hit the Home button while you're composing a message in the Gmail app. A little message will pop up at the bottom of the screen for a moment that says "Message saved as Draft."
I can't figure out how to display one of those messages myself, and I'm not sure what to call it so I can't do a search for it.

I looked for any information about onTap event processing for itemized overlays in this group. There is a lot of useful information but I could not find the answer to one question.
The tutorial by Mark Murphy on itemized overlays, http://androidguys.com/?p=1413
describes how to generate a Toast message whenever an onTap event occurs. In his case, the custom itemized overlay activity is included in the main activity. In my case, it is not. My custom itemized overlay activity is included in the application package as a public activity.
This means that the line Toast.makeText(NooYawk.this, items.get(i).getSnippet(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); will not work "as is".
I have had trouble in correctly identifying the context for the Toast. Attempts to use the main class' (the one calling the custom itemized overlay class) context have not worked. I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest how I could resolve this issue. Incorporating the custom itemized overlay class in the main class is not a desirable option.
Alternatively, I would appreciate any suggestions for generating a display of the title and/or snippet information for markers on a map.
The onTap event works fine (Log.i statements in the onTap method display the correct information for each marker tapped)

I am implementing a custom dialog to form an about screen with a simple look and feel (which may become more complex once I get it working). I have a xml layout that loads some text and an icon from R. However when ever showDialog(int) is called I get a force close. I followed the instructions as per the dev guide:
http://developer.android.com/intl/de/guide/topics/ui/dialogs.html
Code is as follows:
@Override
protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { Dialog dialog;
switch(id) { case DIAG_ABOUT:
dialog = new Dialog(getApplicationContext());
dialog.setContentView(R.layout.aboutdialog);
dialog.setTitle(R.string.about_title);
dialog.setOwnerActivity(this);
break; default: dialog = null;
} return dialog;
} DIAG_ABOUT is defined as private static final int DIAG_ABOUT = 0;
The Log cat shows the following trace:
