Someone send me a message text when my gadget is switched off. I swith it on and I receive the text. The time of it is not when it was sent but when i switched on the phone. With the old phones it did't happen.

If someone texts you late at night and your phone is off, when you turn your phone on the next morning you get the text and the date and time shows the time you boot up your phone. You would think it would have the actual date and time the peson sent the message. Am I missing something?

View 7 Replies View RelatedIncoming texts (not using handcent) in the notification bar are 4 hours behind. When I click the text the time is correct once the text app launches, but the notification time is always off by 4 hours. I saw someone mention an offset??? Where is that and is that only for Handcent? Will that affect the time in the actual text app? Because that time is right.

It puts the conversation all over the place and makes it very difficult to follow. I does not happen with my friends with Verizon when we text each other.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if anyone else was having this issue or may know what could be causing it. Recently all my alerts in the notification area have their times off by 5 hours. For example it is now 8:22PM my time, if I were to get a text message now the alert would have a time of 3:22PM. The other strange thing about it is that when I view the text message inside the text messaging application the time is correct. I just noticed this problem the other day, but it's possible it began when I updated to 2.2 the earlier in the week. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEdit: Well, it looks like I found what the problem was. Apparently the time without signal being stuck at 50% is a known android bug that a lot of phones have. Tried the fix posted at the bottom of this thread FWIW: New LG Ally has 50% Time Without Signal Bug
and it seems to be working for me, phones been on for 10 minutes and my time without signal is reporting at 0%
Original Post. Am I just not understanding what it means? I looked at the cell standby information about an hour ago, and I panicked when I saw that it said the phone had been on for 1d 5 hours since I turned it on, and the time without signal was 50%.
I rebooted the phone to get a fresh reading tomorrow before running back to the at&t store to get my money back, and after the phone had been on for a few minutes I went to check the info again, and saw that the phone had been on for 8 minutes, and the time without signal was 50%. Now service isn't amazing in my house but I generally get 3 bars at my desk, with it fluctuating between 2-4. If I pick it up and hold it, it'll drop to 1-2, sometimes losing signal completely very briefly (thank you antenna design). But, the phone had been sitting on my desk untouched, so it seemed really strange to me that it would have been without service 4 minutes out of the 8 it had been on.
Went into my display settings and set the display to stay on for 30 minutes, and have been sitting in the phone status screen now watching the bars (going between 3-4 now for the time I've been watching it) and the signal strength (going between -97 dBm 8 asu to -81 dBm 16 asu). I haven't been sitting here staring at it, but I've been glancing at it often enough that I feel confident in saying that the phone has not lost signal in the last hour. However I can go into the cell standby details screen right now, and it's reporting the Time on as 1 hour 9 minutes, and time without signal.....50%. Am I missing something, is it trying to say that it's been without signal for 30 minutes of the last hour, or am I misunderstanding what "time without signal" means (though it seems pretty straightforward).
Anyone else noticing this on their phone?
I switched recently from a black berry to an Android 2.3 powered device - Samsung Stratosphere on Verizon.
Email invite messages from Outlook for meetings do not show the calendar detail. Specifically, I can not see the date and time of the meeting invitations. I can perform actions to "Accept", "Decline", or Tentative" the meeting invitation. Unfortunately, there isn't any meeting detail so I don't know when the meeting is scheduled.
This is very frustrating and makes the Samsung Stratosphere or possibly the Android platform not fit for corporate environments. If I can not get this to work I will be switching to an iPhone and I will recommend to my entire corporate enterprise that we avoid Android based Smart Devices.
The Black Berry BEZ environment also provided information on meeting conflicts when you are sent a meeting invitation.
All text messages that I receive are 6 hours ahead of the actual time on the phone. Does anyone know how to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the magic yesterday and so far I'm loving it. Just have a couple questions about texting. When I receive a text it usually tells me the time in eastern time though I'm pacific. However, my sent messages come up with the right time. This makes it so that threaded sms is kind of useless. Everything is all out of whack. Also, every once in a while it just won't even give me a time and there has been once or twice(after fiddling with it for a bit) that it gave me the right time but it just went back to the wrong time right after. Could this be a problem with the phone or is it rogers' fault? I'm assuming it's getting the time from the network and they have it wrong(meaning I can't fix it) but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.
Also, is there any way to make it vibrate when I receive a text? I feel dumb for asking this as it seems like it should be something really obvious but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I get this, which freezes my text messaging, every time I turn off my screen and then turn it back on to go to send a text. It's rather annoying, as it happens many times. I've read many other people having this problem, but their issue related to high volumes of stored texts. I deleted all mine, and the problem still persists. I turned off the phone and turned it back on, cleared the cache, and checked the task manager. I can't seem to find the issue. I have a Droid Pro running GB, and it happened just the other day. I only downloaded the Amazon Market App in the last few days I don't really want to download a free text app because I, personally, love the stock texting app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy s 3 on sprint with cm10 installed. I use handcent for my text messages but obviously the standard messaging app is still installed and when I open it I can view all my text conversations going all the way back to when I got my phone.
How can I back these up in a text file or otherwise so I can store them on my laptop?
Today, one of my text message conversations showed an icon on the right hand side that I was unfamiliar with. It was right about the date/time stamp and looked like an x button. I was thinking maybe it meant the conversation had reached a limit because no matter how many additional texts I sent or received from this person, the number stayed the same (204). But when I restarted the phone, the icon had gone away and the number started increasing again.

It goes like this. I just received a text message from a 570 number. I click the notification, and it opens to a new text message draft. I click back, to go to my messages, and there's nothing there. Then I close the messaging app, and my text messaging widget has a little 1, signifying I have a text. I even delete all my text messages, and it's still there.
I do know people from the 570 area code, but why am I receiving ghost texts from them, and how do I fix it?

It's my first smartphone (and touchscreen) Im not too familiar with any of the lingo that Im sure is needed to get my question answered, BUT...
My phone went through an update NOV 13th. When I woke up it was like having a new phone. Im comfortable with it now, but I dont really know what any of the icons that appear in my (text) message threads are.
I had a few red triangles with "!" exclamation points pop up. After some online research I found it to mean a message had not sent. I learned how to delete them and everything has been okay, no icons off to the side of message threads except the attachment paperclip. Until today. I was conversing back and forth with my dad via text. After I had sent my last message to him a blue box with a white 1 (one) in it came up next to the message thread. this box only appears when im in the message home screen, that shows all the message threads, not when that specific thread is open. Along with the box, at the top of the message screen, where it says "messages" with the "+" off to the right hand side there is a blue 1. Im sure its related to the blue box/white 1, considering it was not there prior.
