I have the Motorola Droid and I would like to find a way to get my phone to vibrate when I get a new text message while I have the sounds off. I have my phone set to vibrate mode but it only vibrates when I get an incoming call. Verizon said this was normal but there might be an application to change alert settings and such.

1) My ringer, when someone calls me, starts off quiet for a few seconds then goes to full volume. The ringtone I have doesn't do that by itself, it must be a setting. Is there a way to make it ring full volume as soon as someone calls me?
2) Is there a way to make the phone vibrate when receiving a text message either while the phone is on vibrate or on normal volume.
When i receive a text message the phone doesnt sound an alert or vibrate, really annoying having to keep checking the phone to see if i have any messages. The software is all up to date, ive reset the alert tone in the notification settings, and im afraid thats all my knowledge used up. Ringtone sound is fine and it also vibrates for that.

1) Vibrate on Notify: On
2) Vibrate on Ringer: On
3) Silent Mode: Vibrate
I am at work and i cant figure out how to turn off the ringer sound while keeping the sms sound everytime i turn the ringer off it for a to silent mode.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero - no sound or vibrate for text notifications I have had my Hero for about a week (first Droid!). I am no longer getting sound or vibrate text notifications. I get sound for email notifications, but no vibrate. The LED indicator is working fine. I don't really care about the email notifications, but I need the sound and vibrate for texts! I have checked the forums and found several threads where downloading Sound Manager resolved the issue. It didn't work for me. I have also checked Settings> Sound & Display > Notification Sound. There is a tone selected. I tried a battery pull as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the HTC Incredible and one of the things I haven't been able to figure out is how to set incoming phone calls to vibrate, yet play the notification sound. None of the profiles seems to make that combination happen. If I switch it to silent, no sound or vibrations happen for calls or notifications. In the vibrate profile, both calls and notifications only vibrate. In normal mode, I can't get calls to vibrate only. If I slide the call ringer volume all the way down and slide notification volume up, it switches it to silent mode. If I have call ringer volume up one notch from silent, it still plays the ringtone. Is this something I can accomplish or do I have to have silent calls only if I still want notifications played?

It will randomly restart Text Notifications NEVER make sound no matter what i do. Home button does not work, neither does the search button.
I've tried rebooting, re flashing, downloading other things. Still to no avail. A little help please?
I am currently an iPhone 4s user and really like the way that the switch toggles between no sound (vibrate) and sound. I leave me phone in vibrate mode for most of the day and in the evening I tend to switch it to sound so I can hear the alerts from around my house when I don't have the phone with me. I am thinking about switching to an android device (S4 or HTC One) and have a few friends that haven't been able to duplicate the behavior of the iPhone. They get sound with vibration or some other weird combinations that wont work for me. Is this a limitation of the OS or is it device specific? I basically want everything to vibrate (Ringer, SMS, Email) with the option of changing everything to sound, no combinations of the two. I also need to distinguish between types of messages by using different vibration patterns.

I looked through all the other threads and they didn't help.
I've gone through the sms settings and turned vibration "on"
I even have it in vibrate mode. that didn't work.
regular mode. didn't work.
I fixed it just in case anyone else runs into this problem:
Download "sound manager" open the app, click your "menu" button and click "vibrate options"
You'll see that vibration notifications are turned off.
When the phone is on vibrate and I receive a text there is no notification, no vibration or indicator light. Samsung says there is no fix for this. Is there an app I can download?

The phone will vibrate for calls... Rooted, running the latest Lithium Mod ROM with Chevy's ulv 1.2 kernel. I normally keep my phones on vibrate in order to be discreet of any incoming calls or notifications at work. However, when I am talking on the phone and I get a text, the phone vibrates. Is there a way to make the phone just beep or play a sound instead of vibrating. I must admit, it can freak you having the phone buzz in your ear.

It will vibrate a fair amount if the volume is on, but when I put the phone to vibrate only, the ONLY thing that vibrates is the ringer. I find this to be a general annoyance with Android I think. Before my eris would play the notification sound within a second of the vibration. Now, my phone lags for about 2 or 3 seconds, vibrating first, then ringing. use the native SMS program, and I don't want to have to download any new apps like chompSMS or anything, I just want my phone to start working again.
