Nov 26, 2009Are there many people who are interested in Beta testing apps? What would make you want to Beta test something?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI wrote a simplest test based on android.test.ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2.
CODE:..............
I got 'no JUnit3 tests' info when trying to use JUnit4-only tests under android 1.6
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been exploring the Android test package and I'm very confused on how to implement functional testing for endpoint-to-endpoint.
Consider the example below, I have 4 activities: 1. A Contact List Activity 2. A View Contact Activity 3. An Add/Edit Contact Activity 4. A Sync Contact List activity
I want to automate a few tests that will go through multiple test cases simulating a user experience: From launching the application, to selecting 'Add contact;' opening the add contact activity, entering data, saving it, going back to the list activity, and verifying the new contact was saved properly.
As I understand it, ActivityInstrumentationTestCase<T extends Activity> and ActivityUnitTestCase<T extends Activity>, are only useful for testing single activity functionality.
But what if I need to switch between 2 or more activities inside a single functional test case?
Never programmed anything, but I'm interested into making apps. Anyone care to point me in the direction I need to start?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am building an app that scrapes information from web pages. To do that I have chosen to use an HTML scraper called J soup because it's so simple to use. Jsoup is also dependent on Apache Commons Lang library. (Together they make up a total of 385kB ). So Jsoup will be used to Download the page and parse it. My question is if the use of these simplifying libraries, instead of using Androids built-in libraries, will make my app slower? (in terms of downloading data and parsing). I was thinking that the internal libraries would be optimized for Android.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)?
I realize this is somewhat of a ridiculous request but I have read blogs of people being enticed by google and offered a free phone to convert their web apps into Android apps. So I figure there is no harm in asking.
I am also wondering what the cost of the developer phone is once you pay your $25 to enter the android market place as a developer through the developer account.
I know I saw the app here just don't remember what it was called. I don't want to backup the apps, just want a text file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect to the student's wifi network, it requiers to configure the proxy with authentification. Well I'm fine with that, and the browser works all right, but all of the apps which require internet access aren't working. I also noticed, that when I'm configuring the proxy in the settings, it actually says that the HTTP proxy will be used by the browser, but not by some of the apps (in my case none of the apps work, including the pre-installed apps like android market, youtube or google maps).
So my question is that is there any way to make the apps work with the HTTP proxy? I should say that I found this thread on this forum:

but I had trouble understanding it. Also if this matters, I'm using an Asus Eee Pad Transformer running android 3.2.1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis isn't anything special but it looks promising and fun. If you don't know how to write code or just lazy. Google Android have come up with something. I saw it on this site. looks fun. Might try it: Google Unveils Android App Inviter, Create Android Apps without Writing Code.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to make certain apps private, hidden or locked on the menu screen. I have lil brothers and nephews who I don't mind playing games or watching movies on my phone; but I don't want them getting into certain "adult" apps or my fake call and sms apps. I believe it's possible to do b/c there's an app called Call Log (Secret Monitor) that has in its description "No icon in the list of applications. Completely hidden at you eyes". I downloaded it just to check and it really doesn't appear in the menu. So does anyone know how to do it for any app that we choose?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just got my first smartphone and downloaded some apps off the play market. However, an icon never appeared on my home screen that links to them. I can access them by opening the market back up, searching for the app, and running it there. But I can't seem to figure out how to make a shortcut.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was looking for an application that make two things:
- First, you can't switch off your phone without the password (useful with nexus 4, because you can't unplug the battery without utils)
- You can't restore your phone without the password
These actions could be activated always or by your activating them on a website (like apps that allowed you to locate your phone)
This would be useful if your phone is stolen, you could locate your phone if it's stolen because the the phone wouldn't be switched off or wiped
I looked for an app like that but I didn't found it..If no, is there an hardware restriction?
Just curious, found a couple that I would like to have (sports related) that Android Market doesn't have anything close to.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I want to upgrade my Droid from the older 2.0.1 build of Pete's Bugless Beast ROM (1.2) to the newer ESE53 based 0.8 version. What I want to know is how to keep all of my data and apps and stuff when I make the upgrade, because according to his instructions you have to use his nandroid backup to go from the older 1.2 BB to the new 0.8 BB. I tried following his instructions once before, and while I was able to successfully upgrade to the newer ROM, I lost all of my apps and data and ended up just restoring from one of my own nandroid backups back to 1.2.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSwiping to close each app all the time is inefficient for me. I realize other people might not want this but I want whatever app I was using to completely close when I tap the home button. There is one app that puts an X on your homescreen that closes everything when clicked. That is a little better but I want to go one step further and have the home button do the same thing. Is there anything out there for that?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is kosher, but I wanted to see if anyone would want to test an app I built. I don't want to release an app to the market without getting out all the bugs I can, but I'm a lone developer trying to build apps on the side in my free time. I don't know many people with Droids, so I'm trying to reach out to the community. I built an app I call "Next Track on Shake". Not a good name, (and I'm up for suggestions for a better name) but I can't think of anything else to explain its function. I listen to alot of music, usually on shuffle, and I hate having to wake the phone up, unlock the screen, open the music player, and change the track. The new versions of Android require PIN or Password when you use a corporate account, and that adds another step in changing tracks. I built an app that allows you to shake the phone, whether awake or not, and it will move to the next track for you. I also added the ability to customize the shake; you can set how hard or how fast you need to shake the phone to change the track. The default shake is a good setting for most people, but alot of people jog with the phone on their arm or hip and would need to adjust the strength of the shake so as to not accidentally change tracks. I've also added the ability to stop/start the service when needed, and I display an ongoing notification when the service is running. When the phone is rebooted, the app checks the preferences, and only starts the app if you had the service running before reboot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have created an app which needs some testing done. I have tested it on the HTC Hero (UK version) and the HTC Tattoo. Worked well on both the devices. I wanted to test it on the newer android phones like the Droid or the Nexus One. If anyone could help me out with the testing, there is a link to the .apk file below. This app does functions like silencing the ringtone when the phone is flipped, switching on the speakerphone when in call etc.

They are a company that has apps to place their software on smartphones to make them into rangefinders. They have an app for the original Moto Droid. If it works on that one would it work on the X?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI thank HTC for trying to take Blackberry's notification LED and implementing on our Desire
However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs
I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.
Is there ANY way to make the LED lights stay on until I check it?
Also, are there any apps that can change the color of the LED light?
