View 3 RepliesThis isn't anything special but it looks promising and fun. If you don't know how to write code or just lazy. Google Android have come up with something. I saw it on this site. looks fun. Might try it: Google Unveils Android App Inviter, Create Android Apps without Writing Code.

However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs
I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.
Is there ANY way to make the LED lights stay on until I check it?
Also, are there any apps that can change the color of the LED light?
Never programmed anything, but I'm interested into making apps. Anyone care to point me in the direction I need to start?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
Just wondering if there is a way that i could make all my apps run off of wifi only (as i don't have a data plan) and this way i could un install the apn switch i use. Not sure if there is any way.

How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
Does Flash make something like Google Earth more responsive? I have 10.1 installed running froyo and I can see macro media animations now on my website using Dolphin HD. But I wanted to know what else it will do.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to make certain apps private, hidden or locked on the menu screen. I have lil brothers and nephews who I don't mind playing games or watching movies on my phone; but I don't want them getting into certain "adult" apps or my fake call and sms apps. I believe it's possible to do b/c there's an app called Call Log (Secret Monitor) that has in its description "No icon in the list of applications. Completely hidden at you eyes". I downloaded it just to check and it really doesn't appear in the menu. So does anyone know how to do it for any app that we choose?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am building an app that scrapes information from web pages. To do that I have chosen to use an HTML scraper called J soup because it's so simple to use. Jsoup is also dependent on Apache Commons Lang library. (Together they make up a total of 385kB ). So Jsoup will be used to Download the page and parse it. My question is if the use of these simplifying libraries, instead of using Androids built-in libraries, will make my app slower? (in terms of downloading data and parsing). I was thinking that the internal libraries would be optimized for Android.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)?
I realize this is somewhat of a ridiculous request but I have read blogs of people being enticed by google and offered a free phone to convert their web apps into Android apps. So I figure there is no harm in asking.
I am also wondering what the cost of the developer phone is once you pay your $25 to enter the android market place as a developer through the developer account.
How can I remove the 2nd one with all the Sprint stuff and make it apps that I download? Right now it appears to be some music player and other apps.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got my first smartphone and downloaded some apps off the play market. However, an icon never appeared on my home screen that links to them. I can access them by opening the market back up, searching for the app, and running it there. But I can't seem to figure out how to make a shortcut.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect to the student's wifi network, it requiers to configure the proxy with authentification. Well I'm fine with that, and the browser works all right, but all of the apps which require internet access aren't working. I also noticed, that when I'm configuring the proxy in the settings, it actually says that the HTTP proxy will be used by the browser, but not by some of the apps (in my case none of the apps work, including the pre-installed apps like android market, youtube or google maps).
So my question is that is there any way to make the apps work with the HTTP proxy? I should say that I found this thread on this forum:
[URL]
but I had trouble understanding it. Also if this matters, I'm using an Asus Eee Pad Transformer running android 3.2.1.
I was looking for an application that make two things:
- First, you can't switch off your phone without the password (useful with nexus 4, because you can't unplug the battery without utils)
- You can't restore your phone without the password
These actions could be activated always or by your activating them on a website (like apps that allowed you to locate your phone)
This would be useful if your phone is stolen, you could locate your phone if it's stolen because the the phone wouldn't be switched off or wiped
I looked for an app like that but I didn't found it..If no, is there an hardware restriction?
I've been adding, and uninstalling, I've been noticing some installed apps that I don't seem to be able to add to my screens, or use.
I was wondering what these were.
They are: -
Rosie Utility
Teeter
and
Street View (Okay I KNOW what this one is, but how do I add it to Google Earth/Maps)
Also I've noticed that on the pattern lock screen. There is a message that says, "This phone belongs to". How do I personalise this with my name?
As above, are there any apps that can do this?A big bug bear of mine is that if im loading a particularly slow web page and want / need to be doing something else, if I open another app, effectively sending the browser to thr back ground, loading of the page stalls until the browser is called up again. It's not a big deal, but being so used to my blackberry loading pages in the background, I kind of miss it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I want to upgrade my Droid from the older 2.0.1 build of Pete's Bugless Beast ROM (1.2) to the newer ESE53 based 0.8 version. What I want to know is how to keep all of my data and apps and stuff when I make the upgrade, because according to his instructions you have to use his nandroid backup to go from the older 1.2 BB to the new 0.8 BB. I tried following his instructions once before, and while I was able to successfully upgrade to the newer ROM, I lost all of my apps and data and ended up just restoring from one of my own nandroid backups back to 1.2.

I realize other people might not want this but I want whatever app I was using to completely close when I tap the home button. There is one app that puts an X on your homescreen that closes everything when clicked. That is a little better but I want to go one step further and have the home button do the same thing. Is there anything out there for that?

Since joining this forum I've been surfing around looking at what a desire is capable of and I want to utilize it potential. I was wondering if someone could help me customize my phone the way they are in the show us your homescreen thread. I want to customise it with a variety of apps and hopefully have a finishing product like everyone else has. I've tried searching around but can't seem to find a guide. I would love to know how to do cool things to the phone and open to opinions and advice by anyone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLately I can be outside in Central London with 4 or more bars showing on my HTC Desire but can't make or receive any calls. This happened in the Putney area last week and yesterday I was in Camden so I thought it must be a network problem until my mate with an Orange iPhone sat next to me and starting making calls with no problem. Anyone else finding this? The phone says its dialing on the display but seconds later it says call ended. I do try various different numbers just to check but get the same results.
