Nov 2, 2010I thank HTC for trying to take Blackberry's notification LED and implementing on our Desire
However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs
I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.
Is there ANY way to make the LED lights stay on until I check it?
Also, are there any apps that can change the color of the LED light?

Sep 23, 2010I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.

I have lil brothers and nephews who I don't mind playing games or watching movies on my phone; but I don't want them getting into certain "adult" apps or my fake call and sms apps. I believe it's possible to do b/c there's an app called Call Log (Secret Monitor) that has in its description "No icon in the list of applications. Completely hidden at you eyes". Aug 10, 2010I am building an app that scrapes information from web pages. To do that I have chosen to use an HTML scraper called J soup because it's so simple to use. Jsoup is also dependent on Apache Commons Lang library. (Together they make up a total of 385kB ). So Jsoup will be used to Download the page and parse it. My question is if the use of these simplifying libraries, instead of using Androids built-in libraries, will make my app slower? (in terms of downloading data and parsing). I was thinking that the internal libraries would be optimized for Android.

Nov 30, 2011When I connect to the student's wifi network, it requiers to configure the proxy with authentification. Well I'm fine with that, and the browser works all right, but all of the apps which require internet access aren't working. I also noticed, that when I'm configuring the proxy in the settings, it actually says that the HTTP proxy will be used by the browser, but not by some of the apps (in my case none of the apps work, including the pre-installed apps like android market, youtube or google maps).
So my question is that is there any way to make the apps work with the HTTP proxy? I should say that I found this thread on this forum:

- First, you can't switch off your phone without the password (useful with nexus 4, because you can't unplug the battery without utils)
- You can't restore your phone without the password
These actions could be activated always or by your activating them on a website (like apps that allowed you to locate your phone)
This would be useful if your phone is stolen, you could locate your phone if it's stolen because the the phone wouldn't be switched off or wiped
I looked for an app like that but I didn't found it..If no, is there an hardware restriction?

Jul 21, 2010As above, are there any apps that can do this?A big bug bear of mine is that if im loading a particularly slow web page and want / need to be doing something else, if I open another app, effectively sending the browser to thr back ground, loading of the page stalls until the browser is called up again.It's not a big deal, but being so used to my blackberry loading pages in the background, I kind of miss it.

Mar 12, 2010So I want to upgrade my Droid from the older 2.0.1 build of Pete's Bugless Beast ROM (1.2) to the newer ESE53 based 0.8 version. What I want to know is how to keep all of my data and apps and stuff when I make the upgrade, because according to his instructions you have to use his nandroid backup to go from the older 1.2 BB to the new 0.8 BB. I tried following his instructions once before, and while I was able to successfully upgrade to the newer ROM, I lost all of my apps and data and ended up just restoring from one of my own nandroid backups back to 1.2.

Jul 10, 2010Lately I can be outside in Central London with 4 or more bars showing on my HTC Desire but can't make or receive any calls. This happened in the Putney area last week and yesterday I was in Camden so I thought it must be a network problem until my mate with an Orange iPhone sat next to me and starting making calls with no problem. Anyone else finding this? The phone says its dialing on the display but seconds later it says call ended. I do try various different numbers just to check but get the same results.
