Swiping to close each app all the time is inefficient for me. I realize other people might not want this but I want whatever app I was using to completely close when I tap the home button. There is one app that puts an X on your homescreen that closes everything when clicked. That is a little better but I want to go one step further and have the home button do the same thing. Is there anything out there for that?

I upgraded my Galaxy S2 (Straight Talk) to CM10.
Now whenever I press the home button, it brings up CM10's home screen.

I understand that trying to capture home button clicks is a hack, but I need to atleast close my current activity when the user clicks on home button. Is there anyway I can tell the system to close this activity is the user clicks on home button? If so how can I do that? I need to do it as I am listening for location updates and I want to stop the updates and also need to trash any location that was available to me previously. I need to do this just in case any user while in that activity clicks on home button and changes the location settings.

things like Skype, amazon MP3, City ID ... etc. my battery has dropped significantly since 2.2 and i think it's because of these many new apps running in the back ground. anyone know how to stop these apps from running?

i am using a MIUI-based rom and replaced sidekick with googlesearch, however, it also removed the sidekick recent apps/task manager without replacing it with the stock recent apps list

Hey everyone, I'm sort of new to this but I figured I'd give it a shot to see if anyone might have an answer.
This happens fairly frequently actually, but I'll be in an app (any app - it's not really particular) and sometimes it'll just randomly shut me out of it and return to the home screen. As it does this, the home button blinks and vibrates incessantly until I hold down on it - at which point it brings up a sort of mini-list of six apps (the last six apps I've opened, I suppose). Once I clear out of that list, then the phone resumes working normally.
I initially thought it had something to do with the memory and running too many apps at once, so I downloaded Advance Task Killer and run that occasionally...only to find the same problem occurring, sometimes RIGHT after I kill all the apps.
Has anyone else had this happen? Can anyone help me out?
Is there something I am not finding, I like to have Google as my home page and at times I want to bounce back to the home Google page to start a new search, I have to go back to my favorites and pull the google page back from there. Is there a trick to make the browser go back to the established home page from within the standard browser interface so that it is not a multiple click task?

It will randomly restart Text Notifications NEVER make sound no matter what i do. Home button does not work, neither does the search button.
I've tried rebooting, re flashing, downloading other things. Still to no avail. A little help please?
ok so to make a educated decision, i downloaded from the market, home++ and GDE. so technically with default home app, i now have three to choose from. noticed that when press my home button it wants me to decide what home app to use and all three come up. does this mean that all 3 are running? is this sucking the life out of my phone? i have heard the whole android moves memory to running apps thing so i am wondering should i remove one of them since i cant remove the default one?

I am using LP so i don't know if it is part of Android or the launcher but I found this pretty neat.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the motorola droid. I got the handcent app because I really like all the customization options within it. However, lately I have been having this annoying problem. Sometimes when I have just sent a message, when I press the home button to return to the homescreen, it goes home but all my apps have vanished. I can go through my menu and replace them all to where they were, or I can reboot the phone and that usually corrects it. It is still annoying and is really putting me off the app. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know if there is a specific cause or how I can correct it?

I am using LauncherPro on my Android 2.1 (CyanogenMod 5.0.8 DS), but with ADW launcher it showed the same behaviour.
I just wanted to know how do you make a pop-up text/messag after the start up of an .APK like saying "created by blah blah blah" and then after that the app or game loads normally. Just something like would make the .APK made by you. I saw one of this in modded game, saying "mod made by ...." So yeah, that's it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night, one of my apps, flow free, wasn't working properly, and then it forced closed, then I think most of my apps did, like Samsung homepage, gmail, software update, android phone, log provider etc. I have a Samsung galaxy y Gt-S5360T, I haven't changed anything like ROM so I think it will still be in stock rom. After these apps have forced closed, it will turn off, we'll more its like it just turns itself on again. And then the problem just starts over. While this is happening, I can't really do anything, well when the force close thing isn't up, then sometimes I can start going into things, but never get a chance to do anything because the force close things either take me back to the home menu, or it turns off, sometimes, instead of having apps on the first page, and the call log, contact book, and messaging on the bottom, it just has the menu key, that's it. And even when I haven't unlocked it, it turns itself off and on again.
My SIM card had a problem, so I recently changed that to a blank and had it working with my old number and balance. And because of this, it was last night, I saved my contacts to my phone, rather than my SIM card.
Is there any way of fixing this( have already tried turning it off and on, and taking the battery out and putting it back in again) without losing my photos, songs, saved messages and contacts? And if not, is there any way of saving them to something else, even though my phone won't let me do anything? So what can I do?
When using a home replacment like Helix, Home++, etc. does the android home still run in the background and reduce performance? I had a lot of stuff on my stock home but just switched to Helix so how do i stop/disable stock home if it is running?

In fact, I've removed all beautiful widgets from all my home screens and home screen replacement apps. Yet for some reason I get the weather thing in my status bar as if I had Beautiful Home running. I've been with my Droid 4 for about a week, but it has slowed down for some reason.I'm suspecting that it's due to all those open apps, which I don't know how to close.How do you close all apps? Is there task manager? I come from the Windows Mobile world, and, as archaic as the OS was, it was very easy to bring up the task manager, just like in the Desktop Windows OS, and close any or all apps to reclaim memory and speed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my inspire last night and everything went good then i started messing with an app called "andriod overclock" I went to extras then i dont remeber exactly what I clicked but i dragged it all the way to the left..i rebooted the device because it said it was required. now when I try to open an app i get an error saying something like force close? my phone is also like 10 times slower. i can still open some apps but most wont. if i open the settings it closes after about 5 seconds.

Issue:Recently, I switched my s duos from official Stock OS/ROM to PMP Ultra 8.5.1 for better features an usability. As I could see that after installing some apps(~8-10 in count), apps such as Gmail(while opening particular email), Link2SD, Gallery gets shutdown as soon as try to open them.
This issue happens after some time rebboting cell, and persist until next reboot, I could see that I have enough space and RAM available to manage yet more apps.
I'm looking for something that will close apps (and the commands that make them relaunch) in an automatic way (i.e every time the said app is beign activated).
I need something non root ( the apps being closed are not an internal part of the rom), preferably free, and that is trustworthy (security wise).
I want to set double click event of my button to return to the HOME .... where to find the file to edit to do this?

Is there anyway I can do this? I have tried button remapper but there's no option for apps only core functions such as home, back, menu, etc.

Is there a possible way to completely terminate app on home button press? Because everytime my friends use my phone they didn't realize there is a back button.. So they just presses the home button like they were using idevices.. This would hog the memory with the running apps and i have to constantly close them everytime they finish playing.. ICS does have this feature but im running GB atm..
