Someone mentioned this elsewhere but thought I'd put this up. Some apps will tell you when you open them that a new update is available, some won't and some don't tell you about the update consistently. I found a way to see if your apps are updated...

I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?
Does it actually work? I still have to manually update the apps I put on auto update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

1) I recently installed couple of apps from getjar.com, but I don't see any options to update those Do I need to keep track of the updates myself?
2) I created a folder and have lots of apps shortcut, but once the folder is big enough, I can scroll but it jerks and background becomes dark, any1 else facing this problem?

I keep getting "Download Unsuccessful"This did coincide with me switching to Gmail instead of Google Mail but I switched it back and things still don't work so I don't think that this is the answer. I have plenty of room on the phone & SD card.

How that would work for a pre-installed app? As an initial thought I think I could pop up a message letting the user know there is a new version ready, but if I could avoid unnecessary request to the server it would be better. If a google engineer comes across this please give me a hint as you do this for Google Maps.

Went to the app store and noticed there was an update for a couple of the apps that I had installed. that got me wondering, what if i have a large amount of apps, I would then have to search for them individually in the store to update them! This seems like it would be a total pain. Im I just doing something wrong, like a setting or a menu im not seeing? Or is there an app that can find updates for apps that I have installed? Ive seen app managers but all fail to mention any sort of automatic updates of any kind.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this since I've updated to Froyo (many weeks ago) but I don't know if it's related to Froyo or just some random coincidence. Whenever I update an app that's stored on my SD card I get the "Failed to install application" error. It's easy to fix just move the app to the phone, but it's kind of a pain in the backside. Is there an easier fix? Or should I just keep all apps on the phone and use the SD for photos and music or something?I have a non-rooted HTC Incredible.

2 days ago I got an android (htc hero) and I would love it if anyone could give me some basics or someplace to go so I can get the hang of things.
I'd like to know about how to use/get themes, apps that are a must, if I should update my firmware, etc etc. If anyone has tips or can point me in the right direction, please do so.
I just got the 1.6 download and found out my ADC2 app is not working anymore. Works fine on 1.5 but people with 1.6 can't log in. Guess that explains the sudden drop in new accounts being created (We got around 70 testers before numbers plummeted to 5 to 6 over the weekend). :( If Google planned to release 1.6 in the middle of a contest, they should have informed developers and given them the tools to test their app on this platform. We spent months on creating a high quality app for this contest and now people can't even judge it! There are probably hundreds of other developers that spent sleepless nights working their butt off to finish before the deadline just to have their chances decimated by google. All I can say is that I'm extremely disappointed in the way Google has handled this entire contest and I think it is extremely unfair and inconsiderate the way they are treating developers that they are supposed to be attracting to the Android platform.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI uploaded the new updates to the application in the market. There was no error message shown. It seemed that the uploading was successful. However, the version name and the app itself were still the old version. FYI: lost the original private key or the keystore file. I generated a new keystore file to sign the app. I also met the minSDK problem and solved it by set the minSDKversion in the manifest file. There must be a way to update the app. I don't want to upload the app as an new application since there is a large base of existing customers.
I've noticed this before but haven't given it much thought, but I've noticed that it seems that certain apps are running in the background for no reason. I usually notice this by checking task killer. However, just now while using another app, I got a force-close error for ShopSavvy, which hasn't been used in several days.
Why would something like this run randomly in the background? Is it part of an update check? Any ideas?
I am rooted with apps on sd, they no longer show in the market. Is there a way to manage and update the apps that reside on the sd card?

That being said, with nearly every app I add, I am adding more time needed to update the phone. If I let it go for a few days it takes a lot of time having to click 2-3 times per app to update. Is there anything out that will allow me to update all apps that have newer versions with a single or at least fewer number of keypresses? I looked through past threads and saw some older ones but nothing recent on this issue.

I have been reading of similar problems in other threads but mine is different so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions
Heres what happened
I followed the backup instructions perfectly (INFO: The backup and restore i have on my phone wasnt on the phone originally, it was added by the sony ericsson Computer software about 2 weeks ago so i assume this is the most recent version)
I then downloaded the update. I turnt the phone back on, and logged into my google account as it instructed, and performed the restore.
My apps were not there. My contacts also didn't return.
Now, if this is because my backup and restore was the wrong version, is there nothing i can do? Please dont say my only option is remembering all my aps and downloading them again. What about the ones that were paid for?
One side effect I've noticed from the recent update: it seems like some apps are just gone from the Android Market. The one I know for sure is the MLB.com At Bat 2010 app. AppBrain still lists it (in fact, it shows that it got a price drop about 10 hours ago), but scanning the QR code, searching for it in the Android Market, even trying to install it from AppBrain all lead to the same thing: The item could not be found. I don't know if this is happening with other apps or not. I do know for sure that the MLB.com At Bat 2010 app was there before the update as I was trying to decide whether I was justified in spending the money to listen to the playoff games at work. But now it's just gone without a trace.Anyone else notice this or other apps missing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried the AppBackupReinstall app when I switched EVOs and reinstalled all my apps. But now when I go into the Market it doesn't show any as installed so it doesn't check for updates. The only ones it shows are the purchased apps or the ones I installed from the Market. I can even download the same apps that are already installed and it will download and overwrite them. Any way to back up free apps so they can be reinstalled AND show up in your Market Downloads?
