View 2 RepliesDoes anyone have trouble with getting updates for Apps you have moved to the SD Card? I seem to have to move the Apps from SD to phone, update, and then move phone to SD. Is there a way to get updates for the Apps that are on the SDCard automatically?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI put a few apps on my micro sd card (via phone mounted to pc over usb) then I opened astro and installed them on the phone. Apps work fine; but I can't update them? All it will let me do is buy them...? WTC?
The apps are 1)Beautiful Widgets 2)Office Suite 3)Switch Pro Widget
Phone: VZW HTC Incredible
Anyone know what the problem is? These apps all show update available but when I go into the market to let the apps get updated it won't let me; all it will let me do is buy...?
I've noticed this since I've updated to Froyo (many weeks ago) but I don't know if it's related to Froyo or just some random coincidence. Whenever I update an app that's stored on my SD card I get the "Failed to install application" error. It's easy to fix just move the app to the phone, but it's kind of a pain in the backside. Is there an easier fix? Or should I just keep all apps on the phone and use the SD for photos and music or something?I have a non-rooted HTC Incredible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA basic Gmail account has 7GB of space. Let's say that I consume 1GB of my space...that's WAY more than the 228MB of free space on my phone.
When Gmail sync occurs, does the data actually reside on the phone, or is it just a mirror to the Gmail system?
I wanted to try and connect to an bluetooth device using the HID profile using an android phone. The phone I'll be using is the vibrant and according to samsung it doesn't support the HID Profile ( http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=560&AT_ID=281257 ).
Now my question is this, where does this "profile" reside? Is it on the hardware level or on the software level ( I assume the latter from other sources that I have read ). And if it is the latter, can HID implementation be created using RFCOMM communication over bluetooth (this is the only seemingly viable method I can see in the android bluetooth API).
I just want to make sure I understand the technology before I try and implement something that may not be possible.
My question is simple enough: how can I get the application name instead of the application package to appear on the manage applications menu. do i need to set something in the manifest?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my HTC Desire for about 2 weeks. I have searched through the forums for info...but between threads getting off track or just not understanding anything, I thought it would be easier to ask basic questions about my particular issues.
1) What is root? I have the 2.2 update, I am happy enough with HTC and my carrier (Telus) and I don't need tonnes of room right now.
2) Speaking of room, I try to put my apps on my SD card with the 2.2 update but only Google Earth and Night Sky are able to do it. All of my icon packs etc. wont go to SD. I'm pretty sure I have lots of room left so I dont think this is a huge issue.
3) Battery issues. I didn't do the first full charge as I had to use the phone asap when I bought it. I don't have much going on with my phone, no active wallpapers, just weather toggle and clock, text and a few phone calls, check a couple websites, maybe a video here and there, and sometime use GPS for maps. I keep my screen on zero percent and I soft touch the power button to go black screen when i'm idle. I turn off gps and wifi when not using them. With that said, I cant keep the phone idle and off charge overnight without it going to zero. After a charge I lose 10-20% in the first hour. I have never lasted a day on a full charge.
4) After playing around with customizing my phone with icons and widgets I am done. All I need this phone to do is make phones calls, text and check my favorite websites. I use my tracks when I go running and listen to music when I run. Thats all I want it to do. Its a phone so I would love if it could keep a charge in case of an emergency. I was late for dinner the other night because my battery died and I couldn't even call to say I was late! so....
5) What do you recommend I do with my phone to keep it as basic as possible and powered up?
6) What are the key apps to make this the best user experience?
7) When in my pocket I lock screen but once I found that I had 23 unsuccessful attempts to open screen from jiggling around in my pocket lol. Is there anything to help me with that?
Android includes a database engine (SQLite). In general, do the applications keep/manage their own databases (files) or is there a unifying database manager?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using SenseHero and in the past I've restored nandroid backups a few times. I've also wiped the phone before restoring a backup. But after I've used Titanium to re-install apps, the manage applications shows apps that have been uninstalled. When I select them in manage applications, I get a FC.I've investigated a bit, and it seems manage applications thinks the apps are still installed for some reason. If I find the app in Market, then Install and uninstall it, it no longer shows in Manage Applications. Is there a way to force a refresh of Manage Applications? I don't want to have to install/uninstall all the rogue aps.The main reaons for wanting to sort this, is so that when I backup/restore from Titianium, I don't have this issue and I can create a Nandroid backup that is correctly up to date.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing a new rom I checked the 'keep my phone backed up with google' check box and it started installing apps that I hadn't used for ages. Now I dont want these apps so I reflashed and didnt tick the box but my question is, is there a way to view a list of the apps that are backed up and possible delete some of them from the computer?
If not, what is a way to manage these? Im guessing that I could start with a fresh rom, let it install the backed up apps, then manually uninstall them and let it sync back again - would that work?
I was using the facebook app and clicked a youtube video link and decided to make youtube the default app to launch for this specific action. However, I later decided that I want it to launch the link in a browser (so I can read comments) instead of playing instantly after clicking the link.
I tried "Clear defaults" under settings>applications>manage applications but there is no settings for youtube. I tried to clear defaults for facebook and my browser, and tried reinstalling the facebook app but no luck.
I used to be able to clean my cache from settings manage apps filter ETC... but now with 2.2 I cannot , anyone know how ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a very happy KaosFroyo 37 user, but I have some misc questions.(sorry, this item is a sort of double-post) Do any of these lockscreen widgets work with Froyo? When I was running Android 1.5 and 2.1, I would keep my screen pattern-locked most of the time, since it lives in my pants' pocket and I want to avoid it activating accidentally. Then when I get into the car and place my phone in a cup holder, I would unlock the phone once and click a widget which would leave it unlocked (for easy access to GPS, etc.) for the duration of my ride, when I would lock the phone again and put it back in my pocket. Now with Android 2.2 I can't do this with the lock pattern, because apparently the security mechanisms don't permit it; one must re-enter the lock pattern several times, which is very time-consuming. Is there another approach for 2.2 users? I don't need very strong security, just want to avoid accidental phone calls and other accidental activations.
While (Android's) Manage Applications worked for me initially, now it only works the first time after a reboot. I.e., I can run it once, but on any subsequent attempts it will hang while attempting to populate its app list. As workaround I purchased Quick App Clean Cache, which is nice in its own right, but it would still be nicer not to have this problem. Also I'm not 100% convinced that Quick App Clean Cache is always giving me the complete set of options for an app, e.g. to move it to an SD card. Have others encountered this problem? I could probably generate a logcat for debugging purposes.
Most apps will let you move them to the SD card in KaosFroyo 37, even though I haven't checked the CyanogenMod option to permit these.I guess that there are a few more apps which might copy more completely to the SD card if I used this option. Can anyone shed any light on this option and whether it's saves any memory, and whether it induces any instability?I'm always careful not to copy widgets to the SD card.Battery life is a continued mystery; clearly much worse than before I rooted. Apparently the CPU tweaker isn't recommended (I guess it uses too much battery life trying to figure out whether it needs to adjust the CPU speed), and the battery life tweaker on the XDA forum described doesn't provide a very clear strategy. What do folks recommend? [ Correction: I had read a pretty incoherent writeup somewhere on XDA, but now see Collin_ph Battery Tweak RC1 for Cyanogen / Darch Froyo roms (possibly others) - xda-developers which is well-written. I will try this approach, but welcome your experiences.
Maybe some of you know but this is for those that don't, you need the below Download this software to your PC and install it http://www.fjsoft.at/en/highlight.php Install this app on your phone [url]
Turn on USB Debugging then connect your phone via USB to your PC don't Mount the SD Card then run the program you installed It syncs Outlook 2007 contacts I don't know about earlier versions though check the settings and set advaned options the way you want Sync Outlook to phone Sync Phone to Outlook Sync both You can tick ones in the list that yo do not want syncing Explore how this works before you do any full syncs so you know its doing what you want You can also Messages - inbox, outbox, draft Apps - Start, Delete, also Install from your PC Files - Phone, SD Card Calendar Alarms Calls - Missed, incoming, outgoing
I have tried it for a couple of days and it works great the best all round android phone explorer, it is free but has a donate option which to be fair.
I want to ask where does the defaults values of memory min-free values of a Rom reside? I mean what file I would have to edit to edit those values?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i just loaded one of the new ROMs based on todays OTA.
I did the nandroid. I did the titanium. i flashed using rom manager and selected clear cache/data.
ROM loaded perfectly.. and when i went to titanium to restore, nothing was there!
I plugged the phone into the computer, and i can't even view the card.
I can browse the phone's memory, but not the cards.
I'm hoping there's some adb command or something that'll fix this...
No can someone tell me how to partition my sd card so that I can run apps right from the card rather then the phone memory?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone is telling me my internal storage is nearly full, whereas I have a 4gb microsd card which is not being used.
How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?
Does it actually work? I still have to manually update the apps I put on auto update.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRather than asking about how to move apps to the SD card, which I'm sure has been done to death, I'm wondering about what happens when your phone finally gets an OTA update that allows native SD apps. Will Google provide something that will allow you to easily port your crowded apps over to the SD card? Or are we all going to have to just suck it up and reinstall everything?

It is the Pure Calendar Widget.
