Android :: Transfer Mp3s And Photos
Jan 11, 2010
I finally switched to the droid after many years with my Iphone because I couldn't take the dropped calls anymore. I am pretty happy happy with the phone although I think it still needs a few updates. One of my biggest issues is how difficult it is to sync mp3's and photos to the droid. I have done plenty of research and the 2 best solutions for a mac seem to be Salling media and doubletwist. Both of these freeze during syncing and have never completed. I Find it really aggravating that there is no similar app to itunes or any easy way to sync.

I have a Desire and I'm trying to transfer MP3s and video across in Windows Explorer. However I can only seem to get around 100MB of files across then I get the error message:
Cannot read from the source file or disk
I'm using a 16Gb card that worked fine in my G1. Windows reports that there is over 14Gb free. I've tried formatting the card via the phone and using other software to transfer the files eg Doubletwist but I still get the same problems.

I have connected the phone to the pc and the photos aren't in the memory card memory so I gather they are in the phones memory. How do I set the phone so that photos get saved to the memory card rather then the phone?

I spent a considerable time and effort attaching photos to all my 100+ contacts. These photos were crops from larger photos so, stupidly in hindsight, I did not preserve any of them. I would like to copy all my contacts, complete with photos, to another phone. Copying the simple contact info is easy via the Gmail export/import procedure, but that does not copy the attached photos. Is there a simple way of copying contacts complete with photos?

Have had my X10 for a couple of days, and so far so good. Does anyone know how to download photos from my laptop to my phone using the USB cable? I can download music from my pc to my phone. I can download videos from my laptop to my phone. But when I transfer photos, just normal jpegs, when I go to Mediascape and photos, nothing is there? Where do they go on the phone, I cant find any folder that has them in?

I have copied about ten albums of mp3s onto my HTC Desire but only about one in five of the tracks will actually play. Windows Media Player doesn't have a problem with any of them.
I've tried playing with the default music player and Meridian with the same result. Has anyone seen this?
Is it possible to install more codecs on the Android? Is that even the problem?

This would be my first post here now. Anyway, here's my situation: I have a NAS where I store my MP3s and I can access it anywhere through its FTP server capability. I have already been able to access the FTP using And FTP and download files from it to play, so I'm good there. But what I would really like to do is be able to open and play the files remotely and basically just stream that song from the NAS/FTP server instead. Anybody know of a way to pull this off? Or am I going to have to bug some dev to program an app for me that does that?

Just trying this out on photos of photos. And yes it works. These are my own shots taken with a DSLR, they are printed and hanging and I used my Captivate to photograph them off the wall. The first one I instantly re-tagged because I didn't realize the exact name of what I photographed. Another way to do this is to use a flickr app, like "Just Pictures" that can push shots to Google Goggles for analysis, but I was just trying this straight from my wall. Goggles by nyer82, on Flickr. OK, so I've scoured this site for any possible answers, but to no avail. When I transfered my mp3s to my Hero, most of the artist's names are listed (and their songs when you tap their name), but there is a good portion that are automatically categorized under the "various" and "unknown" categories. However, 95% of all my mp3s were acquired the same way via Lala.I've taken the sd card out and put it in my reader, and then dragged /dropped onto the card and then put the card back in. I've mounted the phone (that sounds so bad!), opened up the directory, dragged and copied my music folder to the card. Each time I've done this, I deleted all the music to start over. This is trivial I know, but for someone that is OCD like myself, it is driving me crazy having to go to either of these directories to look up a particular artist.Any ideas? Do I need a new MP3 player? Should I do something with the MP3s before I transfer?

Yep. SO I bought a bunch of MP3s from the Amazon store. I was clearing ot some folders of apps I had uninstalled, and accidentally deleted the storage folder for the Amazom mp3 purchases. Oops.
Is there anyway to get them back without paying again?

I can't seem to make Amazon MP3 download to the SD card.As I understand MP3 downloads should go to the SD Card by default. On my phone (non-rooted) it keeps on creating "amazonmp3s" folder on the phone internal memory storage to save downloaded files. Amazon MP3 app doesn't have a setting to save to the SD. How can I fix this? Am I missing something?
