Media : Stream MP3s Off Of An FTP?

Jul 4, 2010

This would be my first post here now. Anyway, here's my situation: I have a NAS where I store my MP3s and I can access it anywhere through its FTP server capability. I have already been able to access the FTP using And FTP and download files from it to play, so I'm good there. But what I would really like to do is be able to open and play the files remotely and basically just stream that song from the NAS/FTP server instead. Anybody know of a way to pull this off? Or am I going to have to bug some dev to program an app for me that does that?

Media :: Mp3s Play In Wrong Order On HTC Desire / How To Set?

May 4, 2010

I'm using a desire, which is fantastic but I've got one issue. Using the default music player - just called 'Music' when I play an album the tracks seem to play in a random order. The player seems to be reading tags properly , correct track names and artwork etc and if I look at a tracks properties in the player software I can see that it is reading track number info. I don't know if there is a setting I have got wrong but it would be great to get songs playing in right order. Other than this the Desire is great.

Media : Most Mp3s Won't Play / Install More Codecs On Android?

Jul 1, 2010

I have copied about ten albums of mp3s onto my HTC Desire but only about one in five of the tracks will actually play. Windows Media Player doesn't have a problem with any of them.

I've tried playing with the default music player and Meridian with the same result. Has anyone seen this?

Is it possible to install more codecs on the Android? Is that even the problem?

Media : Send / Email Mp3s Files To Another Person?

Nov 21, 2009

Has anyone found a way to email or otherwise send mp3 files to another person? I tried the "Explorer" file manager which allows emailing files. I can email from gmail to another account. When I access that account with the standard email client, there is no option to save the audio file (or even just open) as there is for receiving image files. When I send from my non-gmail account to gmail, the file gets truncated to 5MB and can only be previewed within the gmail client. I tried the K-9 client but I can't set it up with my non-gmail account because you cannot select a port for the incoming server (only the outgoing). Thanks for any suggestions.

Media :: Doesn't Synching Music Delete From Phone?

Aug 28, 2010

I went into the synch area of Windows Media Player and marked a bunch of my music file not to synch any more. So I figured on the next synch of my Droid X (Android 2.1) the corresponding files that were already on the phone would disappear. But they didn't. Shouldn't they? Do I have to go through and manually delete them one by one from the phone?I'm not sure Windows Media Player's approach to setting up a synch list makes sense at all. Is DoubleTwist or WinAmp less confusing?

Android :: Transfer Mp3s And Photos

Jan 11, 2010

I finally switched to the droid after many years with my Iphone because I couldn't take the dropped calls anymore. I am pretty happy happy with the phone although I think it still needs a few updates. One of my biggest issues is how difficult it is to sync mp3's and photos to the droid. I have done plenty of research and the 2 best solutions for a mac seem to be Salling media and doubletwist. Both of these freeze during syncing and have never completed. I Find it really aggravating that there is no similar app to itunes or any easy way to sync.

HTC Hero :: MP3s Not Transfering Correctly?

Mar 14, 2010

OK, so I've scoured this site for any possible answers, but to no avail. When I transfered my mp3s to my Hero, most of the artist's names are listed (and their songs when you tap their name), but there is a good portion that are automatically categorized under the "various" and "unknown" categories. However, 95% of all my mp3s were acquired the same way via Lala.I've taken the sd card out and put it in my reader, and then dragged /dropped onto the card and then put the card back in. I've mounted the phone (that sounds so bad!), opened up the directory, dragged and copied my music folder to the card. Each time I've done this, I deleted all the music to start over. This is trivial I know, but for someone that is OCD like myself, it is driving me crazy having to go to either of these directories to look up a particular artist.Any ideas? Do I need a new MP3 player? Should I do something with the MP3s before I transfer?

Motorola Droid : Setup MP3s As Notifications In Other Apps

Sep 11, 2010

I've had my Droid since November and I guess I went into autopilot since because I never had a problem doing this. But now that I had to replace my phone, I no longer know how to set any 'ole mp3 file as a notification or ringtone in other programs.

For example, I used to be able to go into the messaging or Google Voice app and from there choose the "select ringtone" and then be given a list of apps I had that let me browse through ALL of my mp3 files. Now when I choose "select ringtone," I'm only able to access the system ringtones and notifications.

So what app do I need to download that'll enable me to browse through all audio files for any app's notifications and ringtones?
