Android :: Sharing Contact Via Text Message

Did a bunch of searching but can't seem to find a solution. A friend texts and asks me if I have so-and-so's number. On the blackberry, I would go to my contacts, shift-roll to select the phone number, and paste it into a new text message. I'm looking for the most efficient way to do this on my droid x. I have found the copy command in different places (sometimes via the menu key and other times via a hold click) but I don't see where I can select specific text. I know there is a feature to send an id card or something like that, but those don't seem to work with a lot of phones.

but I would like to know if the message sent in a text message can be forwarded to another contact on my phone, and if so, how do you do it? Checked the owners manual, and could not find it.

I must be missing something really obvious, but can someone tell me how I can send a text message to more than one contact in Handcent please? If I manage to do this, will all the recipients of that message be able to jointly read what everyone says like an email or facebook message? Maybe I'm asking too much?

when you get a text message from a new number and you long click it, click add to contacts it just brings your current contact list no option for adding a new contact. Is there a way to add a new contact from a text message?

I recieve a text message from a friend that has their address in it, and I want to add this address to their contact. How do i go about doing this. I have tried to figure out how to select(highlight/copy) text in a SMS but have not found a way.

Liking my new phone and feeling quite happy about the small format.
Though I've found a lack in my or the phones abilities:
How do I attach a contact to a text message or an email?
I'm using Roadsync email
How I do it now is: Navigating to the contact I would like to forward, edit it, mark and copy the phone number, paste it into a text/email, write the name of the contact and press send.
Features I also would like to see in the future:
Have the Roadsync application use the "Full Name" field instead of the "File As" field, when syncing contacts with MS-Exchange.

Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

I've recently noticed that on both the HTC Magic (aka MyTouch) and Samsung Galaxy S it's possible to share contacts details via QR Codes.Both the aforementioned smartphones had the latest Barcode Scanner (by ZXing Software) installed. It's simply a matter of going into the address book, hit the menu button and select the "share contact as barcode". As a result, a fullscreen QRCode is displayed containing all the relevant details of the selected contact, ready to be scanned and saved by another smartphone.Now, why can't my Desire do the same?I have Barcode Scanner 3.51 installed, but the "share as barcode" options is nowhere to be found in my address book/contacts list.The only workaround I found is to share contacts directly from inside B.S., but (other than being slower) this method shows non-grouped contacts which is a PITA.Is this a Sense-related matter?What about yours?

In my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

I have noticed in the text message app if I create a new message and click the icon button next to enter recipient to choose a contact from my contacts there are contacts from just about everyone who has emailed me on my gmail account! This is not ideal at all.. I Would like just the contacts in my phone to be available. How do I remove all of those gmail contacts.

I have my Google account also setup on my wife's phone so we can share purchased apps. However, everything else is shared too. For example, even though I have sync for everything on my account turned off, my calendar still showed up on my wife's phone until I disabled it in the calendar app. Also, I can't remove my Google Talk account from her phone so my messages show up on her phone.
This is on a pair of stock Samsung Galaxy S3 phones.

I've just started using Handcent on my HTC Desire and I was so impressed with it.But I've just seen that when I want to creat a new message, and I start typing the recipients name into the "To:" box, it isn't bringing up any of my contacts.The "messages" program that comes with the phone doesn't have this problem. any ideas?

On my new Android phone I setup my Google Voice number and set it as my primary number to use on the phone. I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding
an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM
with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -
Dear, I have tried to purchase some products from a business company, I have attracted by high quality products, low price and enthusiastic services, I think if you are free, you can go to see: styleele.com, picking your interesting <<followed by a link here>>
I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).

It wont let me choose contact when starting a new message. Usually when i start to type a contact name it auto finds contacts with those letters. I get nothng now. I uninstalled and re-installed but it happened again.

How do you tell if a person received a message on the Eris, besides using the option of having a message sent back 2 u. Its frustrating because I am not sure if my messages are going through or not.

i am a youth sports coach and i need to be able to setup a direct message shortcut to my contact group. Has anyone been able to do this? i can setup indivdual short cuts but not a shortcut for a contact group. Am i doing something wrong? Also, is there a way to change the label on the direct message shortcut?

Is there an Android app anywhere that will count how many SMS text messages I have used to date in a month? I have found a data counter which tells me the amount of data going through the phone via WiFi and the mobile network, but as these are both unlimited on my plan, it's no use. However I only get 300 minutes and 300 SMS messages each month included in my plan and would like to know where I am with those at any time.

I had a weird problem this afternoon with the stock texting app.
All of my text threads got erased when I went to reply to someone. The weirder part is that a few hours later, all of my texts had the mail symbol with a green "i" next to it, signifying that it was pending. People receive the messages, but mine all have a pending status.
