I really like the way Chroma Doze works so reluctant to switch.

General :: Samsung S4 - App That Shuts Off Phone After Set Period Of Time

Aug 4, 2013

Any app that will automatically shutoff my Samsung S4 after a set period of time?

What I use this for is I may be listening to a Netflix or HBO GO movie (yes I know, "listening") and I want the phone to shutoff after 30 minutes.

I was having a hard time finding any app that does this. Google searches just showed me results of shutdown problems, and the apps I came across were to reboot the phone.

Motorola Droid :: Unlock Pattern For An Extended Time Period?

Feb 1, 2010

If I do the incorrect pattern enough times, will it lock me out of my Droid for an extended time period? How long? How many tries do I get? The reason I ask is because, the Droid (ANNOYINGLY) suffers from a slight lag when brought out of sleep mode. Basically EVERY TIME I try to wake it and quickly enter my pattern, I will be halfway through it and it will hit a lag spike I guess and stops reading that I am touching it, and the first half of the pattern I was entering will be counted as an incorrect pattern, and as I continue to finish the pattern, the second half will be counted as an incorrect pattern. Basically, I use up 2 tries, and I would hate for this to happen, and then I go to enter the actual pattern and I just make a mistake, and use my last try up. So do you get only 3 tries?

Android :: Frame Animation Or Movie File For Short Interactive Movie Application

Jul 22, 2010

In a nut shell, when the app is loaded, it will play a short movie (maybe a few seconds at most @ 12-24fps). I will then have 2 buttons displayed on the screen, and depending on what button is pressed, it I will play another short movie (5-10 seconds). While waiting for the user to make a decision, the movie will be looping.
The movie source is stop-motion photography so it's already chopped up into frames. My question here is if I should use a Frame Animation technique, or if I should use a Movie player for this. All in all perhaps there's less than 100 still frames that make up the stop-motion. I was going to go the Frame Animation route, but I wasn't sure if having so many individual frames would kill the app so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any insight.

HTC Desire :: 100% Awake Time - Short Battery Life

Apr 19, 2010

I got the fantastic Desire friday and I'm really enjoying it so far coming from iPhone and Hero.

Unfortunately I've run into a little issue: Up time and awake time (in Settings>About phone>Battery) are almost the same, meaning that the CPU never correctly throttles down when the phone is asleep. This is causing battery life to be rather short - On average I get 10-15 hours out of the phone with moderate settings.

By going to the battery info console (type *#*#4636#*#* in dialer) I managed to figure out that the calendar in some way is running and preventing the phone from sleeping (Partial wake in top dropdown). I did a factory reset and it hasn't seemed to help. There are 2 calendar related apps running: Obexservice and connectivityservice.

HTC EVO 4G :: Sound Stops Working After A Short Amount Of Time?

Jul 20, 2010

I downloaded an application named Todderlock so my children could just meddle around with my phone while they sat in my lap. However, the sound stops working after a non-specific amount of "dings" when either tapping the shapes around the screen, or when dragging your finger along the screen to make the same type of noise, but much more rapidly.

Thinking this was an application problem, I had my wife download Todderlock on her HTC Hero, and the sound works without issue.

So, I shrugged that off and went looking for other neat applications to download...I downloaded Bug Squash I, II and III and they all suffer from the same problem: after squishing X amount of bugs, the SFX stop (the music continues however), and I have to restart the application to enjoy the sound for as long as it lasts.

I was getting suspicious, so I loaded up Robo Defense FREE and the same thing happens when the turrets are firing...after X amount of shots fired, all sound ceases to work.

I have not been able to find a similar problem with the HTC Evo on Google or here on the Android forums, considering my wife's Hero works without issue on all the sound issues I am having.

As far as I know, phone notifications and ringers continue to work after the application has "disabled" the sound. I have not reset the phone to factory settings or anything, but I have restarted the phone itself numerous times, and the problem still persists.

HTC Hero :: Short Time To Answer Call Before Caller Is Directed To Voice Mail

Jan 4, 2010

One thing I've noticed with my HTC Hero (Sprint) is that I have a very short period of time to answer an incoming call before the caller is directed to voice mail. When I do answer the phone people are routinely telling me that it rang 4 or more times before I answered even though, from my perspective, I answered it rather quickly. Could this have something to do with using downloaded ringtones? Perhaps, while the phone should be ringing, instead, it is loading the ringtone off the sdcard.

Android :: What's "proper" Way To Time Animation Frames?

Mar 16, 2010

I have a project that requires a view to be animated whenever the user performs a certain action - perhaps twenty frames or so, with a total duration of a second. There's more work required than just updating the view, so the animation classes are not helpful.

Right now my test program uses a very simple method: I have a handler that is called to start the animation. The handler's handleMessage() method calculates the new frame, invalidates the view, and calls sendMessageDelayed(obtainMessage(0), 50); However, the animation isn't smooth - especially, for some reason, in landscape mode. Portrait mode seems much better (on a G1, if it matters).

This suggests to me that this isn't the right way to... handle... this problem. What would be a better way? Calculating time deltas? Starting a new thread whenever the animation starts and having it repeatedly calculate and invalidate instead of relying on the handler, even though it means creating and destroying a new thread every time? (most of the time the program is idle; the user interacts with it every few seconds, typically). Starting a thread and leaving it running?

Whether that's the right way or not, what's the most accurate way on Android to measure time, and to sleep for a specific duration?

Android :: Animation.start - Or Animation.startNow - Does Not Start The Animation Immediately

Aug 30, 2010

I have a strange issue - from time to time the animation that should fade out my control (ImageButton) does not kick in immediately. I am using the fadeout animation to hide it and then in myListener on its end (onAnimationEnd) I put new resource as the image on the button.

Somewhere in my app code:

Animation a = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this,R.anim.fadeout); a.setAnimationListener(new myListener(location)); buttons[location].setAnimation(a); a.startNow(); // regardless if its start() or startnNow() it will work in most of the cases but not 100% reliable I actually can see in debug Log when its late, happens after few more clicks

Then in myListener.onAnimationEnd(Animation a):buttons[location].setImageResource(R.drawable.standard_button);

Seems there is a rule that the every 4th or 5th animation does not start ...

I get no space or capitalization and have to add the space manually.
