I got the email last night about the new swype beta. I could not find an answer anywhere so I thought I would ask here. The swype version I have has a skin that I found someplace (i can't remember where) do you think this one will expire too or will I be able to keep it? If this is in the wrong place please move it. I know it is not evo specific.

Just got swype the other day and loving it. The only thing I don't know what to do is have it auto space after a period. Having to hit space is very annoying
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am very impressed with Swype and just amazed that it is able to correctly guess what I am trying to type most of the time. But I have a question. What is the correct way to add a period? It seems that when i first started using it, if I used a period it would automatically add a space and capitalize the next word. But it doesn't do that now. I get no space or capitalization and have to add the space manually.

I do not want to use a server, because I am making a game that shouldn't need permissions. I would like the expiration data to survive an uninstall, but I am ok if it doesn't survive a manual edit of the database. Do an application's database entries get deleted when an app is uninstalled? How about preferences? Local files? Other methods?

- Currently there is no mechanism built into android that allows an app to be closed. I see that you can close the main acitivity, but the user can always press the back button and go back into the app.
- After trial period, the user can always un-install the app and re- install it. What do I do to prevent this from happening?
I've got some Buttons that I want to make un-clickable (but still appear on the screen) until another process (thread) has finished its work ? How would you do this ?

View 1 Replies View Relatedim working on a audio profile switcher for android and as part of the entire project, i have a service that is running in the background using the following timer code:

What im noticing is that the timer is not honoring the dynamically generated next update interval period...the nextUpdateInterval is declared as private static long which is initialized to 30000 (30 seconds) for the first run....then once a profile is found, i do some math and update the nextUpdateInterval...i have converted the nextUpdateInterval value back out to hours/minutes for debugging purpose, and the calculation is working as expected...like it shows me in hours and minutes, when the next timer execution should take place...

then once a profile is found, i calculate the elapsedTime like so:

One example scenario: Profile of 'Work' is set from 9AM to 4:30PM, the service/app is executed at 2:02PM (EST), my toast message is executing constantly (indicating the 'run' method in the timer is being executed) and is acting as a count down telling me how much time is left...in this case 2:28 and decreasing...ideally this should not display until the 2:28 is up...

What I use this for is I may be listening to a Netflix or HBO GO movie (yes I know, "listening") and I want the phone to shutoff after 30 minutes.
I was having a hard time finding any app that does this. Google searches just showed me results of shutdown problems, and the apps I came across were to reboot the phone.
Any JB keyboard that allows you yo disable the period like the gingerbread keyboard from before? I hit the period too often and bugs me to no end.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I do the incorrect pattern enough times, will it lock me out of my Droid for an extended time period? How long? How many tries do I get? The reason I ask is because, the Droid (ANNOYINGLY) suffers from a slight lag when brought out of sleep mode. Basically EVERY TIME I try to wake it and quickly enter my pattern, I will be halfway through it and it will hit a lag spike I guess and stops reading that I am touching it, and the first half of the pattern I was entering will be counted as an incorrect pattern, and as I continue to finish the pattern, the second half will be counted as an incorrect pattern. Basically, I use up 2 tries, and I would hate for this to happen, and then I go to enter the actual pattern and I just make a mistake, and use my last try up. So do you get only 3 tries?

When entering in text and using the predictive text entry, when you select the word it always enters a space...if you're saving something it will append that space to the end of the filename making you have to hit the "X" Delete key to erase it. Is there any easy way to not have it input the space automatically (didn't see it in settings?).
Also how do you tell it to automatically put a period at the end of the word etc? I've done it by accident before but no idea how I did it!
I am working on a VOIP based application. I need to capture the audio from mic at 8000 hz sampling rate, get the 20msec packets, encode and send the packets over the network.
Can somebody tell me how to configure the mic for the desired sampling rate?
