I was looking around the forums as I was thinking of rooting my G1, but while I saw a few things about a wifi tether and one or two other things I noticed there was not an updated definitive list of apps or how-to's with regards of what can be done, just a few post saying a few things.I did try searching but I could not find one so if there is (or ifthi is in thewrong section) I appologise

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my phone and got carried away deleting apps. I am not the quickest when it comes to computers so I started deleting everything in red. Yes I really did do that. Now I cannot download. I cannot use my dialer. I think I deleted up to about C before I said uhoh I may be in trouble here. I rooted because I hate the phone. I liked my iphone better as it was quicker and had better email. Those are my main two things. Figured if I rooted I could get rid of the lag and set up a better email. Well here I am. I need help or this thing will be taking a jump out my truck window soon. Help me like this phone please.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy s phone with darky's ROM v10.0 RC final. evidently it is rooted but some apps don't recognized it as a rooted phone. first, when i ran the superuser it fails and said com.noshufou.android.su is failed to work...and then theres a notificaTION that su binary is outdated but i tried to update it a million times but always failing, tried this su update fixer but still negative results. downloaded busybox installers the first one also failed to install busybox saying the directory where i want to put it has a problem, tried to put it to other option directory but still negative. the other busybox installer says that my phone is not rooted. how come this happens when titanium backup recognized my rooted phone.

I'm really getting annoyed by some of these apps like google talk storage, alarm clock, and calender launching themselves when they have no business at all running.And even regular apps do this which baffles me why people make apps that launch themselves I wish we had user acccount control I bet someone will make this type of app for rooted devices one day.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI still have some apps and my phone and wifi seem to be working fine.I don't have Market, Rom Manager, Titanium (but I DO have SuperUser). When I USB my phone to PC - the PC doesn't see either the phone pr the card although I haven't reinstalled HTC Sync). At this point, I don't really even know if I'm rooted or have busybox.I'm really puzzled as to what I should do next:I don't know whether to do a phone restore from Settings or, perhaps from Recovery? Or whether to find a RUU (Is there one with the updated radio or with Froyo? Or, I guess I could wait for the OTA - but that's a wimped out way out and it might not even work at this point. Or, do I want to try reinstalling Rom Manager and do the permission fix - then reflash one of the Froyo Roms. But would that get me Market back? In all cases I'm gonna have to reinstall most of my apps since most resided (at least partially) on the dead sd. Fortunately appbrain has a record of all my apps. - but, from what I understand, there's no way to install the Market, except via HTC/Google/Verizon.

A - Is it possible to upgrade to the official 2.2 firmware on a Rooted device
B - If not, can a rooted phone be derouted and then upgraded via FOTA
C - If this is possible, Will my phone data be wiped (ie loose all apps, sms etc)
Re Apps
D - What are the best apps out there to backup apps, settings, SMS and other data?
E - Re the App backup packages, when the apps are restored, will they be recognised in Market for updaes etc?
F - If not, is it possible to backup a lit of apps to automatically/manually restore them from Market.
I'm still a little confused as to what the situation is here. With a rooted Android phone, are all non-free market apps unavailable, or just ones with copy-protection? For non-free, un-protected apps (are there any?), can they be purchased directly and installed on the phone without going through the market?

1) How can i move apps to my sd card?its a 16gb sandisk...i have already tried folder mount, apps 2 sd and APPMGR 111, but they are either not compatible for my device or dont work/let me install them?

I never had this problem on my rooted N1, however once I rooted Evo - it cannot see apps like NYTimes, bTunes, and basically any other app that's copy protected. I have read on XDA-forums that this has something to do with Market being affiliated with 'build.prop', but unclear as to what the fix for this will be, if any Right now, I am thinking of going back to stock because of this..
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the whole rooting scene but everything seemed to go flawlessly following the 1.5 to latest root directions, but after rooting my purchased apps are no longer shoing in the downloads section of the marketplace. . I ran a search for the app and the pro version (Tapatalk) isn't even showing anymore, just the free version. Just out of curiosity I followed the directions to revert back to 1.5 stock and upgraded back to the OTA 2.1 and the app shows up again. Anyone had this issue before or know of a fix fo rit?

I have installed the rooted 2.1 with out a hitch. I have been looking around to find out how to uninstall a few of the apps (amazon, stocks, tweet) and found people that say to use SDK's ADB or terminal. I understand what the terminal is and the SDK that google offers is but not the ADB. I also understand that there is a chance to brick by removing the wrong things. So I don't want to just make a careless mistake.

But when I am rooted or on a custom rom, they don't work. I know this is because I am rooted/modded (because the app makers indicated they check for root access).

I am on the current .37 update.I downloaded dragonbox from the play store, and it loads but nothing on the screen responds to touch. Is there a way I can force this app to work on the Nabi? Or is this an issue with the software? (I'd be willing to get to the bones, rid the Monarch UI, etc. to have better functionality of the Nabi).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm asking this because HBO Nordic which recently became available in Scandinavia won't allow me to use my rooted ASUS TF101 for streaming. The HBO Nordic app says "Service is not available on this device because it has been modified."
I'm thinking one of two options might work:
1. Revoke one or more permissions
2. Modify build.prop

I should add that HBO Nordic works on my Galaxy Nexus which is currently unrooted but has an unlocked bootloader.
I have nexus 4 rooted and have lot of apps, now yesterday i got galaxy note2 as a gift. And i want to transfer all my apps plus the data to note 2. How to transfer apps with data (Galaxy note 2 is still not rooted).
