My Hero is rooted but I need to know the EASIEST way to remove the apps that were on the phone when I purchased it. I have read several posts that look difficult, so I need to know the easiest way to do it.

I am looking for a bit of info and/or a tut on how to remove apps with the rooted 2.1 for the Eris ( BTW thanks to all the dev's for their hard work). I have installed the rooted 2.1 with out a hitch. I have been looking around to find out how to uninstall a few of the apps (amazon, stocks, tweet) and found people that say to use SDK's ADB or terminal. I understand what the terminal is and the SDK that google offers is but not the ADB. I also understand that there is a chance to brick by removing the wrong things. So I don't want to just make a careless mistake.

I have chompSMS as my txt app. I took a look at the pre-kitchen, but I use a mac so wanted to see if there are any other alternatives.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering, can the Gmail and Messages stock applications be removed? I tried to do just that, but then a warning pops up saying "it can't be done". And I've tried the stock uninstaller and third party ones. And if it can be done what happens then? Any complications like... i dunno, deleting Gmail connection to my phone, or SMS network settings? I don't want either of that obviously. I use the stock Mail application for all my email accounts, so Gmail is plain redundant, and i also use Handcent SMS third party app for my SMS, which makes the messages stock app also redundant. I don't mind about the bit of space they take, but it's just annoying when i receive an email from Gmail, both apps activate and i get two notifications. And same thing happens with SMS too.

And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.

However, I have noticed with fresh 2.3.3 that there is a lot of junk on there that I don't want or need, like "coin," "battery," "Dice," etc. Since these are system apps I can't remove them through the uninstall app. Does anyone have any idea of which of these sense apps are safe to remove through adb and which are not?

I'm trying to get rid of the standard music player (Rock On from SlideMe is still a tad glitchy, but it's mostly fantastic for it's ineffable ability to land artwork for every album and the last.fm tour finder) and also Sprint Navigation (pointless with Google Maps).

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere's been a lot of comparison between the stock Hero and Moment but I was wondering if anyone has played with both a rooted Hero and Moment. Becoming more and more set on switching over to the Hero.Rooted & got CL14 on my Moment last night thanks to zefie, numus, and the great guys at sdx, but maybe I just had my expectations too high as I didn't see a large improvement over the stock kernel & ROM, esp in speed (did fix the battery meter and improved battery life thank god!).I understand rooting a Hero makes it faster but by how much? How does it compare to a rooted Moment running a home replacement app (like PandaHome)? This way I feel it's comparing apples to apples in terms of experience, as opposed to compared to a rooted Moment running stock home.Ever since I got the Moment, I've been trying to get Sense-like stuff on it (like a lot of ppl haha). Coming from the less-sophisticated BB Curve, I was surprised when stock Android didn't support things like Facebook integration (I know it's coming in 2.1, but HTC has it now).
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've just root my Desire using the unrevoked v3.21, and i intend to remove the bloatware like teeter, stock, talk and plurk once and for all. so i went to the market and download the root explorer and titanium backup. When i try to uninstall using the titanium backup, it freeze and reboot my phone, and the bloatware are still there. so i tried using root explorer to delete the apk and the odex in the system/app folder, but after i've deleted them, i reboot my phone and see they are still there. Is there any ways to remove the bloatware for good? I've search around and came across this "adb shell" that can be use to remove the bloatware. May i know how it works?
