Motorola Droid X :: Use Titanium Backup To Delete Apps That Are Safe For Delete Like Amazon.mp3 Etc?

Jul 23, 2010

Last night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:

1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?

2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?

3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?

4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?

HTC Droid Eris :: Clock / Built In Weather Widget?

May 14, 2010

How many people here are having an issue with the clock/built in weather widget here? I for one am. It force closes, thereby rendering it useless and freezing everything up. Anyone find any solutions yet? I really love that clock widget and want to keep it up there with updated weather, fix for force close problem on weather widget on 2.1!believe i just fixed thbis problem.goto applications, sort by name. goto "weather provider" and clear data.then, i added my widget again. i tapped it, but the clock came up instead of weather. on the desk clock, tap the area under the clock where the weather WOULD be. then you have to add a city. i just added trenton, because it's in NJ, and it wasn't picking up my GPS location yet..after adding that, a few seconds later it realized where i was via GPS, then bam, i refreshed and everything was fine and no more crashing!

HTC Eris :: Rooted 2.1 OTA / Now Purchased Apps Arent Available

May 26, 2010

I'm new to the whole rooting scene but everything seemed to go flawlessly following the 1.5 to latest root directions, but after rooting my purchased apps are no longer shoing in the downloads section of the marketplace. . I ran a search for the app and the pro version (Tapatalk) isn't even showing anymore, just the free version. Just out of curiosity I followed the directions to revert back to 1.5 stock and upgraded back to the OTA 2.1 and the app shows up again. Anyone had this issue before or know of a fix fo rit?

HTC Eris :: Remove Unwanted Apps With Rooted 2.1

Mar 16, 2010

I am looking for a bit of info and/or a tut on how to remove apps with the rooted 2.1 for the Eris ( BTW thanks to all the dev's for their hard work). I have installed the rooted 2.1 with out a hitch. I have been looking around to find out how to uninstall a few of the apps (amazon, stocks, tweet) and found people that say to use SDK's ADB or terminal. I understand what the terminal is and the SDK that google offers is but not the ADB. I also understand that there is a chance to brick by removing the wrong things. So I don't want to just make a careless mistake.

Motorola Droid :: Moto Droid Rooted Or Eris Rooted

May 11, 2010

Currently I have an Eris with v3 Leak meaning I can't root. But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:

1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.

2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.

3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.

To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.

Android :: Apps Built With 1.5 Get A Black-backgound Icon In The Market

May 1, 2009

We've rebuilt a couple of our apps with the 1.5 SDK (but targeting 1.1).

The Market seems to have a bit of trouble with the background of the icons. They appear correctly (with transparent backgrounds) on the desktop, and they appear correctly when the app is downloaded from the Market and installed on the device.

However, they appear on black (not transparent) backgrounds in the Market uploader web page, and in the Market application on the device.

It looks to me as though the Market has a problem when it extracts the icon from the .apk at upload time, with .apks built by the 1.5 SDK.
